It's an epic piece and has a darker and grittier feel than previous bond songs, a move away from the traditional, more orchestral approach and a reflection of what the new 007 film has to offer. Scissor Sisters ‘Land Of A Thousand Words’ have to settle for second place slot, while Take That takes a dip to No.3 with ‘Patience’. Its be a hectic year for James Morrison, already had a No.1 with ‘You Give Me Something’ and now his brand new release ‘The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore’ shoots up 15 places to No.7, a truly beautiful ballad and an ode to that point in a relationship where no matter what you try it just doesn’t seem to work anymore, starting with a haunting murmur that builds to a powerful vocal crescendo. “It’s Christmas†as Noddy Holder hollers on ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’ the highest new entry of 6. The greatest Christmas single of all time form for the first time in 20 years, as it is still one of the best and best-loved Christmas party song, in at No.19. Other Xmas tracks entering the chart from The Pogues feat Kirsty MacColl ‘Fairytale Of New York’ and Wham! ‘Last Xmas’. The View, Sharam and Queen vs. The Miami Project are the other new entries in this week’s Top 40. Take That manages to sit at No.3 for a second week while Razorlight with their indie dancefloor anthem 'Before I Fall To Pieces', the follow-up to 'America', both of which are taken from their acclaimed eponymous second album ‘Razorlight’ up to No.7. The biggest climber of the week goes to Scott Matthews ‘Dream Song' showcases Matthews's bluesy, high-pitched tones perfectly, while employing strings and an almost Indian, mystical sound to create a beautiful, delicious wall of sound effect that flow around his soft vocals rather wonderfully. Taken from his debut album ‘Passing Stranger’, jumps 13 places to No.9. Girls Aloud return with their own unique take on the 80's classic 'I Think We're Alone Now’ up 2 places to No.10', originally recorded by Tiffany, taken from the girls' chart-topping ‘The Sound Of Girls Aloud’ Greatest Hits album. The highest new entry of 5 comes in at No.19 for U2 'Window In The Skies' is the second new recording from the band's collection 'U218 Singles', while it may not be an automatic U2 classic, it has a fresh and urgent sound to it. The Automatic, Evanescence, Amy Winehouse. Nerina Pallot and this year’s X Factor winner - Leona make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40. The View ‘Same Jeans’ and U2 ‘Windows In The Sky’ are just hanging outside the top 10. The highest new entry of 6 comes from Eric Prydz vs. Floyd ‘Proper Education’ at No.4. Prydz builds on the epic nature of the original Pink Floyd hit, moulding it into a bouncy slice of crossover brilliance. Using both the original vocal and other musical elements of the 1979 hit, ‘Another Brick In The Wall’. The original song itself, brings sentimental value, Christmas 1979 was an emotional time for me, and this track changed my life forever. The Guillemots, Just Jack, David Gilmour, Norah Jones and Big Bass vs. Michelle Narine, make up the rest of the new entries inside the top 40 this week. 'Window In The Skies' is the second new recording from U2’s collection 'U218 Singles', climbs 10 places to No.2. Dundonian 4 piece,. Kyle Falconer, Kieren Webster, Peter Reilly, Steven Morrison, The View 'Same Jeans', is taken from their debut album 'Hats Off To The Buskers', which is due for release in late January, casually climbs up the chart to No.3. The band initially based themselves at The Bayview pub in the Menzieshill district of Dundee, not too far from their native Dryburgh. From this pub, the band took their name. 'Annie Let's Not Wait', the new single from Guillemots is a thing of beauty; beguiling, intriguing and with a hook as big as Texas, climbs 11 places to No.9. Taken from their Mercury nominated, gold certified debut 'Through The Windowpane'. Filled with the sort of energy that made the band one of the most talked about bands of the past year, this is the perfect sign off to 2006 and an even better introduction to 2007. The highest new entry of 6 comes from My Chemical Romance returning back on form with ‘Famous Last Words’ in at No.15, after their surprising No.1 smash ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ from last year. Fall Out Boy, The Klazons, Spaceboy Cowboy feat. Nadia Oh, Keane and Little Man Tate make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s top 40. My Chemical Romance follow up to ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ with ‘Famous Last Words’, climbs up another 9 places to No.6, taken from their studio album, ‘The Black Parade’ is a concept album that combines elements of rock, and punk with melodramatic balladry to create the band's most sophisticated work to date. Already infamous for biting chunks out of various unlikely musical influences, spattering their lyrics with a who’s who of cult literature and then ending up with a music that’s poundingly catchy, driven and unique, Klaxons prepare their main assault on the charts with the anthemic new single 'Golden Skans', up 22 places to No.8. A hypnotically sweet pop harmony is the backbone of the track, a sweeping, shiny dream of a song. 'Golden Skans' is taken from the band's debut album 'Myths Of The Near Future'. And up 2 places to No.9 comes ‘Raoul’ from The Automatic, doing what they do best, huge melodies married to raucous, bone-tingling punk, taken from their gold selling debut album 'Not Accepted Anywhere' which also includes the singles ‘Monster’ and ‘Recover’. The highest new entry of 5 comes from Beirut-born Londoner Mika with his debut single ‘Grace Kelly’ take a light pinch of Freddie Mercury add a dash of Beck, a pinch of Bolan, stir well eh voila! Ladies and Gentlemen, please meet Mika, taken from his debut studio album ’Life In Cartoon Motion’, the sort of goose-bump-brilliant star that British pop is in desperate need of right now, and who is being tipped as a major breakthrough artist for 2007, storms inside the top 10 at No.3. Bloc party, Kasabian, Joan As Police Woman, and Mason vs. Princess Superstar, make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s Top 40. Taken from their eagerly anticipated new album 'Infinity On High', '...Arms Race' bears all the trademarks of a classic Fall Out Boy single, with its insanely catchy chorus, acid-tongue lyrics, climbs 5 places to No.9. Amy Winehouse returns back inside the top 10 at No.10 with 'You Know I'm No Good', the follow up to the brilliant 'Rehab', and taken from the universally acclaimed No.1 album 'Back To Black'. The highest new entry of 4 comes from the beautifully shape figure of Kylie Minogue I don’t usually include album tracks in my chart but for once I make an exception with a rich lavish track ‘White Diamond’ entering the chart at No.20. Metric, The Ordinary Boys, The Good, The Bad and The Queen and The Long Blondes make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s Top 40. With the Klaxons contagious single ‘Golden Skans’ which is undoubtedly more refined and ‘pop’ than its predecessors and a shiny dream of a track, stalls at No.3 for a second week, taken from the band's debut album 'Myths Of The Near Future'. Bloc Party return with a slight departure from their previous material with a mighty fine comeback single ‘The Prayer’ up 3 places to No.8, taken from their second studio ‘A Weekend In The City’ the follow-up album to their celebrated debut ‘Silent Alarm’, awesome track, can’t wait to hear more from their new album. Space Cowboy aka DJ Nick Dresti collaborating with Nadia Oh on ‘My Egyptian Lover’ climbing 6 places to No9, blending Asian and Egyptian music to make an instant dance anthem hit. The highest new entry of 5 comes from the eagerly long awaited new single from Kaiser Chiefs, with their infectious and rather loud new single ‘Ruby’ taken from their forthcoming new studio album ‘Your Truly Angry Mob’ their follow up million selling debut album to ‘Employment’, in at No.18. The Feeling, Snow Patrol, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Connie Bailey Rae make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s top 40 chart. A little bit of chart trivia the word 'klaxon' derives from the Greek word for "to shriekâ€, I did not know that. Bloc Party continue to climb up the chart to No.3, with ‘The Prayer’. Kaiser Chiefs storm inside the top 10 at No.8 with the heavily infectious new single ‘Ruby’ taken from their long awaited second studio album ‘Yours Truly Angry Mob’. A slight departure from their usual swaggering no-nonsense indie-rock, 'Me Plus One' is a wonderfully joyous pop moment from Kasabian's second album 'Empire', up 6 places to No.9. The highest new entry of 5 comes from The Fray, having charted on downloads already in the official chart ‘How To Save A Life’, is already becoming an instant anthem, in at No.20, and can also be found on their album ‘Live At The Electric Factory’. The Gossip, Kelis feat. Cee-Lo, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and the Noisettes make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40. Klaxons still remain at No.2 with ‘Golden Skans’. The Fray are a Denver 4 piece band whose single ‘How To Save A Life’ the piano mellowing the overall sound, to produce a more grown-up version of emo, climbs up to No.3. One of the best tracks around at the moment, which is bound to take the British charts by storm when the single is physically released. Kaiser Chiefs climb up 3 places to No.4 with ‘Ruby’ taken from their soon to be release second studio album ‘Yours Truly Angry Mob’. The Feeling follow up to ‘Love It When You Call’ comes this beauty ditty of a ballad ‘Rose’ climbing 9 places to No.5, one of the best bands of 2006, making their mark into 2007. Snow Patrol continue their success in 2007 from the best selling album of 2006 ‘Eyes Open’ comes another hit ‘Open Your Eyes’, they should walk away with a couple of Brit Awards next Wednesday, most definitely for their album, if they don’t there will be an outcry. The highest new entry of 6 comes from Take That, how do you follow up a hit like ‘Patience’ quite easily actually ‘Shine’ is a wonderful little ditty with Mark Owen taken the lead on vocals, taken from their million selling album ‘Beautiful World’. Gwen Stefani feat. Akon, The Killers, Cascada, +44 and CSS make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40. One track that’s really beginning to grow on me, like a rash has to be the new single from Kelis ‘Lil’ Star’ is an infectious and quite hookable sound collaborating with Cee-Lo, who is most known for being a half of the chart-topping duo Gnarls Barkley. ‘Lil’ Star’ marks Kelis’s comeback single taken from her 2006 album ‘Kelis Was Here’. The Fray ‘How To Save A Life’ and Kaiser Chiefs ‘Ruby’ stall at Nos. 3 and 4 respectively for a second week. After their comeback single last year with ‘Patience’ Take That make a return to the top 10 at No.9, with ‘Shine’, with Mark Owen taking the lead on vocals, a nice little track and bounces into an infectious chorus, that will have you tapping your toes away. British soul singer and songwriter Joss Stone is back with her brand new single ‘Tell Me ‘Bout It’ taken from their third forthcoming studio album ‘Introducing Joss Stone’ making it the highest new entry of 6, in at No.17. Nelly Furtado, The Pigeon Detectives, All Saints, Beyoncé and The magic Numbers make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40. The Fray move up a place to No.2 with ‘How To Save A Life’, while the Kaiser Chiefs remain at No.4 for the 3rd week with ‘Ruby’. Singer and songwriter Joss Stone climbs 11 places to No.6 with Tell Me ‘Bout It’ taken from her forthcoming third studio album ‘Introducing Joss Stone’, the track is fresh filled with a touch of warm vintage soul, '70s-style R&B at its best. She's back. Sophie Ellis-Bextor returns with her new single 'Catch You', which includes a hook so infectious that it that burrows into your brain just like a Blondie 80s track and stays there in a three minute spin, climbing 7 places to No.8. Destined to cause murder on the dancefloor, 'Catch You' is taken from Sophie's eagerly anticipated third album, entitled 'Trip The Light Fantastic'. The highest new entry of 5 comes from the cheeky chappie from Stoke-On Trent and he goes by the name of Robbie Williams, entering the chart at No.22 with ‘She’s Madonna, taken from his least successful album to date ‘Rudebox’. Scissor Sisters, Arcade Fire, Regina Spektor and Camille Jones feat Fedde Le Grand make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s top 40 chart. Kaiser Chiefs have finally peaked at No.3 previously been a non mover at No.4 for 3 weeks with their infectious new single ‘Ruby’ taken from their brand new studio album ‘Yours Truly Angry Mob’ released this week. Nelly climbs 4 places to No.7 with her infectious new single ‘Say It Right’ taken from her best selling album to date ‘Loose’. Gwen Stefani returns back inside the top 10 at No.9 with her infectious single ‘The Sweet Escape’ taken from her album of the same name, the track features Akon, not the best move she has made by adding Akon to the single, but it’s the only track with Akon I like. After their double Brit win The Killers climb inside the top 10 at No.10 with ‘Read My Mind’ another stand-out track from their acclaimed album 'Sam's Town', which is approaching the million sales bracket here in the UK. The highest new entry of 6 comes from Good Charlotte with their brand new single ‘Keep Your Hands Off My Girl’ taken from their forthcoming brand new album ‘Good Morning Revival’. The Fratellis, Madness feat. Sway & Baby Blue, James Morrison and Air make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s top 40. And I forgot to mention, Amy Winehouse breaks back into the top 20 after 11 weeks on the chart at No.19, with ‘You Know I’m No Good’ taken from her No.1 studio album ‘Back To Black’. Maximo Park was the highest new entry in the chart last week, this week it climbs 13 places to No.7 with ‘Our Velocity’ taken from their highly anticipated follow-up album, 'Our Earthly Pleasures, at first I was in two minds about this track, but it has literally grown on me, over the past few days. Hot off the back of their Best British Breakthrough award at this year's Brits, The Fratellis return, with their latest offering from the double platinum 'Costello Music'. With its glam tinged stomp-along-sing-along refrain 'Baby Fratelli' up to No.8, has become the lead track from the brand new Working Title/Simon Pegg film, 'Hot Fuzz' which opened as the 4th biggest British Film ever. A great band in the making with hits like this, they can do no wrong. Calvin Harris leapfrogs inside the top 10 at No.9 with his catchable and infectious new single ‘Acceptable In The 80s’, it sparkles with high gloss, glitz and glamour; like a disco ball catching the light. Calvin has also been linked working with Kylie Minogue on her new studio album, which is due out later in the year. The highest new entry of 6 comes from Pink, ‘Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely)’ in at No.14 unfortunately this single is not released as a physical format, but its one of the best stand out tracks on her best selling album to date ‘I’m Not Dead’. Thirteen Senses, Razorlight, Christina Aguilera, Alex Gaudino feat. Crystal Waters and The Hours make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40 chart. Thirteen Senses release 'All The Love In Your Hands', the first single to be taken from their brand new studio album 'Contact', the follow up their gold-selling debut 'The Invitation' up to No.4. Unheard of until October of last year, five-piece band The Twang were the subject of discussion in the pages of the NME, the A & R departments of pretty much every record label of size in the UK whilst their demos were being played on BBC Radio One in the middle of the day. Here they are with their debut single ‘Wide Awake’ climbing up 7 places to No.8. My Chemical romance continue to climb up the chart to No.9 with ‘I Don’t Love You’ taken from their best selling album to date, ‘The Black Parade’. Not very often you find a catchy indie track from a 4-piece band Ghosts they met at school and have been together, in one guise or another, ever since. It is little wonder, that the music sounds so self-assured, and so very accomplished - ecstatic melodies, sugar-spun choruses and a precise understanding of pop music and all its infinite nuances. 'The World Is Outside', Ghosts' debut album, is packed with radio-friendly hits, such as the toe-tapping first single, 'Stay The Night' up to No.10, The highest new entry of 5 comes in the shape of Avril Lavigne with her brand new infectious and hookable new single ‘Girlfriend’, in at No.20, taken from her forthcoming third studio album ‘The Best Damn Thing’. Seamus Haji feat. KayJay, Cherry Ghost, De Souza feat Shena and The Rapture, make up the rest of the new entries inside the top 40 this week. Arcade Fire continues their success up the chart to No.2 with ‘Keep The Car Running’, lifted from their studio No.1 album ‘Neon Bible’. Highly addictive dance anthem 'Destination Calabria' has been building itself a cult following since it began life as 'Destination Unknown', a track Alex put together with his studio partner Maurizio Nari back in 2003, which features vocals by Crystal 'Gypsy Woman' Waters climbs inside the top 10 at No.6. The ‘Skater Boi’ girl Avril Lavigne is back with her infectious new single to date ‘Girlfriend’ up 10 places to No.10, taken from her soon to be release studio album ‘Best Damn Thing’. Now comes a heavy clearout, with 8 brand new entries in the Top 40 chart, the highest of them come in at No.20 for Natasha Bedingfield, a welcome return after taken the US by storm with her brand new single ‘(I Wanna Have Your) Babies’ taken from her soon to be release second studio album ‘N.B.’. Fall Out Boy, Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys, Ash, Bloc Party, Beyoncé & Shakira and Muse make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s Top 40 chart. And I almost forgot the highest faller to drop out of the chart completely… is the comic relief single from The Proclaimers feat. Brian Potter & Andy Pipkin, only spending 2 weeks in the chart and plummets from No.17 into oblivion. Which samples the Smiths classic ‘Stop Me If You Think You’re Heard This One Before’ and merges into ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’ towards the end of the track taken from his debut album ‘Version’. Maximo Park dips a place to No.2 with ‘Our Velocity’, taken from their beautifully new album ‘Our Earthly Pleasures’. Cherry Ghost better known as Simon Aldred showcases his rather wistful indie-pop tune with his debut single ‘Mathematics’, a really haunting melody of a track, climbing 10 places to No.5. Natasha Bedingield climbs up a further 10 places to No.10 The first cut to be taken from her second studio album 'N.B.' is 'I Wanna Have Your Babies', which lyrically touches on a woman's fight to reign in their natural disposition to "rush into things" in an effort to find that elusive "one", that potential father to their children. Natasha has been away from the British music scene for over 2 years, by having a successful music career, across the Atlantic, in the USA. Mika returns into the Top 40 chart, with the second new track ‘Love Today’ taken from his successful acclaimed debut album ‘Life In Cartoon Motion’. It’s another upbeat and infectious single following his No.1 hit ‘Grace Kelly’, it’s a clever little ditty which lodges into your brain after awhile. April 20, 200718 yr Author Mikey’s Reload Top 40 Chart: 22nd April, 2007 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697078762.JPGhttp://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/7WAP220.JPGhttp://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PRERELBEDIES.JPGhttp://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1732074.JPGhttp://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/ASH05H.JPG Chart Commentary Mark Ronson remains at No.1 for a second week with ‘Stop Me’ featuring the vocal talent of Danel Merriweather, taken from his second studio album 'Version' - his dazzling, culture-clashing new solo LP that finds 14 classic tracks turned on their head and recreated into visionary floor-filler, and a non-mover for Maximo Park at No.2 with ‘Our Velocity’. Fall Out Boy head up the chart at N.o.4 with 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs', the second single from their Top 3 album 'Infinity On High', it is the follow-up single to the massive smash 'This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race'. Ash, now slimmed down to their original trio status following the departure of guitarist Charlotte Hatherley, return with band new single, 'You Can't Have It All' with a jump of 13 places up to No.5, their first recorded output since 2004. 'You Can't Have It All' shows that the band have lost none of their oft-mentioned prowess for a great melody and explodes into action, taken from their soon to be release new studio album ‘Twilight Of The Innocents’. ‘Brianstorm' is the stomping opener and first single from Arctic Monkeys' eagerly awaited second album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare', a journey through screwball punk and guitar fuelled dance floor heroics. And 'Brianstorm' is exactly that. It's very, very fast, it's loud and its bad tempered guitar rifts and drums give the song a feel of emergency, climbing up to No.7. It's a brilliant racket but it's also one of the strongest songs the Arctic's have ever written. Following on from the massive hit 'Golden Skans' and their debut album 'Myths Of The Near Future' debuting at No.2 in the UK album charts, not to mention their winning best New Band at the NME Awards, Klaxons pop a glace cherry on top of the cake with the release of their fantastic new single 'Gravity’s Rainbow', climbs inside the top 10 at No.9. Having long been regarded as the trailblazers for the emotionally engaging pop anthem, Travis can truly claim, on their fifth album 'The Boy With No Name', to have re-discovered what made us love them in the first place. Three years on from their last outing '12 Memories', and the first taster of their new material is the warm ambience of 'Closer', earning them the highest new entry of 5, in at No.19. Manic Street Preachers, Dragonette, Client and Booty Luv make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s top 40 Chart. April 27, 200718 yr Author Mikey’s Reload Top 40 Chart: 29th April, 2007 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697078762.JPGhttp://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/7WAP220.JPGhttp://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PRERELBEDIES.JPGhttp://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/ASH05H.JPGhttp://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1732074.JPG Chart Commentary 2007 seems to be the year of long chart runners at No.1 at this point last year I had 9 different tracks at No.1 and Snow Patrol were No.1 at the time with ‘You All I Have’ notching up 3 weeks at No.1 in total. Hardly any change at the Top 3, Mark Ronson spends another week at No.1 with ‘Stop Me’ taken from his studio album ‘Version’ vocals on the single are by Daniel Merriweather. Maximo Park remain at No.2 for the third week running with ‘Our Velocity’, it’s the most played album ‘Our Earthly Pleasures’ on my sound system at the moment. Natasha Bedingfield is another non-mover at No.3 for a second week with ‘I Wanna Have Your Babies’ taken from her new forthcoming studio album ‘N.B.’ Mika ruled the No.1 spot for 5 weeks early this year with ‘Grace Kelly’, he returns with another infectious track with ‘Love Today’, residing at No.8, taken from his platinum selling debut album 'Life In Cartoon Motion'. The album went straight to number 1 on its initial release. Last time Travis were in the chart were 3 years ago, and the first taster of their new material is the warm ambience of 'Closer', up to No.9, taken from their fifth studio album ‘The Man With No Name’. Bloc Party follow up to ‘The Prayer’ with ‘I Still Remember’ makes the second top 10 hit for them, at No.10, taken from their second studio album ‘A Weekend In The City’. The highest new entry of 5 comes from Snow Patrol back with a new single ‘Signal Fire’ in at No.6, which is a slow moving soft rock haunting ballad, which give me goose bumps every time I listen to it and used as a theme track to the motion picture ‘Spider-Man 3’. Linkin’ Park, Gym Class Heroes, Lostprophets and Therese make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40.
