If it's a certified platinum, surely it's sales will be 600,000+

Trickle sales from 2004 to 2013 I presume.

I've changed it to 588k+

Could be platinum shipped or better still passed the 600k mark. :cheer: Brilliant sales as they mostly Cds not 99p downloads.

Loved this and still do. I always felt (and I think probably we'd all agree), that this was the start of Will's career proper.
Still absolutely love this over a decade on. Easily my favourite Will single, was quite obsessed at the time and loved seeing the music video on TV.

Wasn't at all sure when I first heard this but my husband said it would be a smash hit. He said the same about Jealousy. I'm sure it's release alone led to around a million sales for Friday's Child. :yahoo:

I remember Eg White saying that it was Will's vocal delivery that truly made the song.

Your husband must be a male version of Mystic Meg, TT. :heehee: And as for Eg White, despite his having been around for some time, didn't he also say it was the start of his career big time. After LRN everyone wanted a piece of him.

My hubby said the same TT. I loved it from the beginning...still do

As for not selling more...the record label grossly underestimated it's appeal and most of the shops had sold out within a couple of days and you couldn't just download it as you can today. The album came out the following week and sold 200K+ every week right up until the New Year so obviously the GBP were so impressed with LRN they bought the album....loved seeing those sales mounting up every week :yahoo:

Yes Will really helped propel Eg (Francis White) into the spotlight as a songwriter. I have his album released a few years backs and although it contains some very clever lyrics I can see why he never made it as a singer.

We've had so many LRN performances over the years. What is everyone's favourite? His first performance and return to Pop Idol will always be special to me. After that he had nothing to prove when so many wrote him off after the first album.

Loved this song the first time I heard it, and I still do.

Always stops me in my tracks

My husband was the opposite. He didn't wasn't keen at first then he came to really like it! :D

I love the video too

Well I loved the song from the first clip I heard and was over the moon when I heard it in full. :cheer:

I'll have to have a think about my favourite performance of it and come back. I do love the PI rendition also TT, and the audience reaction was amazing!

I used to think the recorded version couldn't be bettered but since Will changed bands I must say that I have enjoyed it even more live as I love the way he's developed it.

Thanks for that TT. :D Happy memories. I know he's done different versions, many, many times over the years, but I think that was the first time he sang it on TV, and it still remains my favourite.

Despite the fact that he had a bad cold he was brilliant, and I loved the belt he put behind that long "Please", which of course wasn't on the CD, which I think was due for release the Monday following that performance. Never forget the hullabaloo because there were not enough copies.

I've always loved LRN and I also loved his Pop Idol return version  I remember hearing the first few verses on Will's OS and couldn't wait to hear the full version.

I also remember a TV programme which reviewed new singles, (cannot think what it was called) but this horrible young chap just looked at the single cover saw it was Will's and through it straight in the bin  I'll never forget that...........

But Will had the last laugh didn't he. i remember the gags going around saying he'd better leave right now, yet he's here over 12 years later with a successful music and acting career.

This release also gave us two fantastic B sides penned by Will.

Cry

and Ticket to Love

I always regret not attending the Exeter gig. :( I wasn't quite as mad in those early days travelling the country.

Will also gave a fantastic performance of this on the Will & Gareth tour. Such a pity it didn't make his debut album but I suppose it just didn't fit.
