March 25, 201411 yr HA. Really mature. Then perhaps you should get the f*** out if you aren't going to contribute anything (worthy) to the discussion? Language isn't the only thing that defines a culture, you xenophobe.
March 25, 201411 yr Author This is Eurovision. Every country sends a song which it represents their culture (like Portugal/wise people). That's why i loved 1990-99 era in comparison with the last years. Eurovision supposed to be a festival where each country would take the best of their culture for the show One thing all you bandwagoners need to realise it's that Eurovision is nothing but a SONG contest. Nowhere in the rules of the show does it state, nor it EVER did, that a song should be representative of its country of origins' culture. Broadcasters send a SONG they hope will be a hit. In this day and age it's purely SILLY to think a song will be a European hit just because it's a piece of music representative of a subculture in the north of Portugal and it's very traditional and cultural. Bollocks. It's a SONG contest and a TV show so naturally we need current pieces of pop music that can become as big as 'Volare' or 'Waterloo' and give the show back its relevance. 'Euphoria' won with a landslide because everybody in Europe seen it as a Pop song with quality. Something they could hear on the radio, dance to in the clubs and download from iTunes. No one cares if Martijna from Croatia is singing a purely balkan party number because no one but the Balkans will want to hear that after the contest.
March 25, 201411 yr Author Sabrina and Suzy are tagged as the same type of music most of the portuguese refuses to take to a european show (at least is what they say), but the true is, those songs wins at the crucial moment the national contest, because are easy songs, catchy, cheap and simple, and thats it. So if a Pimba song is so easy, cheap and simple how come you don't produce one? Did you take time to actually listen to the layers in 'Quero Ser Tua'. How about the shift in tempos? Do you really thing he just got to his laptop, pressed one button and the song was finished? There's a lot that goes into writing and producing one song, no matter how cheap you thing the quality is.

The show's viewership has grown A LOT and what used to work before doesn't anymore. Having a Marija Magdalena in the line-up would be nice but it'd surely become too boring if all countries sent the same shit each year. I used to think that it's a bad thing not having more 'traditional' songs but a LOT of countries change their approach every single year so I don't really care about it now.

I used to think that it's a bad thing not having more 'traditional' songs but a LOT of countries change their approach every single year so I don't really care about it now. And thank God they did. I live in anticipation of a Eurovision filled with songs worthy enough of being within the Top40 on iTunes. I pray to Saint Loreen, Saint Margaret and Saint Ace Wilder! ...oh, wait...
March 25, 201411 yr Believe me that i would love Euphoria, if it had Swedish lyrics too. I know..Maybe i'm an exception but i'm not a xenophobe. I listen British music more than my country's music. That's why i began my phrase like this "as much as i love British music"..But i would prefer to listen more 'traditional' songs in Eurovision song contest. If all the countries sent an english song, it would be an English festival for me. I don't think that Portugal, France, Spain and Italy send songs with their own language because they are xenophobe. They want to promote their culture across the Europe. If a song had english lyrics, it would be great to have (at least) traditional music. For example, "Rise Up" hasn't anything Greek this year when "Opa", "Aphrodiciac", "Watch My Dance" and "Alcohol is free" had something common (Language, Musical Instruments, Traditional dance e.t.c.). This doesn't mean that i hate our song. I like it actually..But don't confuse politics and a song contest. Xenophobia is something more serious and dangerous like a political party in my country. To Pavel : I don't know Russian but i always enjoy Russian songs like "Nye ver, nye boysa". I remember that one friend of mine tried to learn the lyrics that year because he loved the song. And he managed to sing it with the Russian lyrcs. I suppose that there are many other people who did the same for others songs/language. I would be happy, if a foreign friend tried to sing a Greek song too. This is the magic for me because it is another way to learn about different cultures..
March 25, 201411 yr Yeah but Eurovision isn't the only place to hear songs from different countries. I for one listen to music from all over the world for the entire year, not just same 40-something songs between March and May. and soz but there's NOTHING Russian in Ne Ver' Ne Boysia except for the language, so I don't know what culture you're referring to.
March 25, 201411 yr I guess that "Ne Ver' Ne Boysia" is a modern russian song..I didn't mean only the language. If the songs had english lyrics, it would be nice to have (at least) traditional music. And the opposite. If they had modern sound, it would be nice to have (at least) their own language. Not a "modern english song".Maybe for young people is not the only place to hear songs from different countries. But old people who don't use computer like us, it's a nice way to listen songs from different countries.

I dont produce what I dont like, Im not the kind to please the masses, if I m happy with my work I will be perfectionist until im happy of the results. the layers are like copy paste so even a kid can do it, its not rocket science. Well yes I think, because he said the song was made in less than one week. I understand your opinion about non english songs, if I was english I would have the same opinion like yourself, lets be honest ok? ;) Edited March 26, 201411 yr by Odaisul

I understand your opinion about non english songs, if I was english I would have the same opinion like yourself, lets be honest ok? ;) Erm Vulker isn't even English. So get your fact straight before drawing conclusions k? It's not about how much time you spend on a song that matters. You can get inspired, write, compose and construct a song in a week and you will get a beautiful track. You can waste 3 months working on something and it will turn out to be crap. As long as it's not something preposterous like 45 MINUTES, I think it's fair to say that a week is enough time to make a good song. P.S.: don't forget to report this post as well (or take it to the GM like you threatened, for all I care) bye
March 26, 201411 yr This discussion isn't really going anywhere is it? Indeed..But it's nice to have different opinions..If we all agreed, it would be a boring topic (or a praise topic)..I think that it's much more interesting with all of these disagreements.. :smoke: I'm waiting for your countdown. Greetings to everyone!!!

And I'm afraid I'm 100% Portuguese - thank you though, I'm glad my command of the English language confused you - so I do know what I'm talking about here, so let's be honest ok? ;)
March 26, 201411 yr Please. Odaisul's nothing without his high horse of superiority attempting to disguise his idiocy. And you can REPORT THAT all you LIKE love, it doesn't change the fact you're someone even the SAMARITANS would HANG UP ON

March 26, 201411 yr For someone who sneers at Eurovision in the vast majority of the posts they make, you certainly spend quite a lot of your time on this website in here.
March 27, 201411 yr We're pretty crap at this, but there are some songs I still like: 1. Sara Tavares - Chamar A Música 2. Anabela - Cidade Até Ser Dia 3. Rita Guerra - Deixa-me Sonhar 4. Dina - Amor D'Agua Fresca 5. Dulce Pontes - Lusitana Paixão And that's basically it.
March 27, 201411 yr reading all this now, and noticed a missed a word, when i said being english like you I meant being a english speaker. f***'s sake! Aren't you also an English speaker? TRAPPED in his own bullshit oops
