With "Love is the answer" at 4, "Happy" at 7 ,"Marilyn Monroe" rising from 10 to 8, and "Liar Liar" climbing from 15 to 10 in it's 2nd run on the chart, Pharrell Williams now has 4 productions in the Top 10. Both "Happy" and "Liar Liar" featured in my rundown of the best of 2013 and will repeat the feat in 2014. Two new entries in the Top 20 and both are Jamaican. The highest at 14 comes from Vybz Kartel who had no less than four Top 10 tracks in my chart in 2010 including one number one and two number twos, "Clarks", "Clarks again", "Straight Jeans and Fitted" and "Cake Soap" and then claimed another number one in 2011 with "Summer Time" followed by another earlier this year with "Hi". Kartel has however rather more pressing matters on his mind than his achievements on my chart. On 3rd April he is being sentenced in Kingston having been found guilty by jury by 10 to 1 in the murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams who had been lured to Kartel's house to account for 2 missing illegal guns. I'm at a loss to explain how his music career has continued to flourish despite being in prison since 2012 when he was arrested on a previous murder charge which failed to stick. By contrast the other Jamaican entry this week for Christopher Martin has absolutely no controversy ... just an old school reggae tune that's topping the chart in Suriname. Just one other matter to mention. John Legend finally departs my Top 20 this week after a 27 week run with "All of me". In total he had been in my Top 20 for the past 33 weeks as "Made to love" had a partly concurrent run of 16 weeks. Edited March 29, 201411 yr by moth09
