Posted April 1, 201411 yr There's a great Pixar Monsters University short to start, then bang straight into the very pop culture-referenced, manic, knowing and Muppet-referential latest movie. To fans of the TV series (like me) there's plenty to love, and some bad jokes and one-liners that would be lost on kids. Ich bin ein berliner/frankfurter for a start, and Miss Piggy's ongoing costume changes to reflect bygone cinema stars relevant to location. It was a bit too fast-paced for my taste, and the plot too jokey at times, but just look at what you can see: a gaga cameo; a Russian hardnosed ruthless Kermit lookalike; Ricky Gervais as baddy; Salma Hayek; Tom Hiddleston as the Great Escapo; Josh Groban as singing Prisoner in box; great songs (all original and pastiche of classic styles of music); dance routines; Russel Tovey delivering stuff; singing chickens; Usher as an Usher; Zack Galifianikis eating crisps in the Tower of London; Ray Liotta as Russian gulag prisoner doing a showtune dance routine. honestly, it's wasted on kids...
April 6, 201411 yr This was excellent, a great plot, and better than I expected with the sub-par previews. The short at the beginning tho  I agree, it was absolutely fabulous.
