April 5, 201411 yr I also wonder if the mixed reaction scared the label and led to the release of two 'safe' ballads. Keep On is Will's most experimental album and vies for my favourite with Echoes. Although I love ATL I don't see it or WAI as being representative of the album. Me neither TT. I was happy with ATL as the follow up but would have loved AIW as the third single....such a great track  Still Will did sell over a million with KO and, unlike some singers ;) without resorting to rereleasing it the following year
April 5, 201411 yr Author Me neither TT. I was happy with ATL as the follow up but would have loved AIW as the third single....such a great track  Still Will did sell over a million with KO and, unlike some singers ;) without resorting to rereleasing it the following year  Yes I would have loved AIW as a single. Think About It is my fav track from Keep On but not sure about it as a single. I think many of the single choices led to Will as being labelled by some, as nothing more than a MOR balladeer. His fans of course have always known there is so much more to Will.
April 5, 201411 yr Yes we did get the impression that the single choices after SIO were changed didn't we? I can't quite remember the timing but I recall Michael Gracey telling a fan in the street they had a great plan for the video of Ain't Such A Bad Place To Be, as if that was the next single. They seemed to bring the release of ATL forward and then it was a surprise that WAI was the next one. Actually I think both really helped sell the album more so it was probably a sound commercial decision. My frustration was that they cut and ran after three singles for so long. Why couldn't ASABPTB have been a fourth. As you say jacqui, some artists just carry on releasing even if it takes a re-release of the album itself with some extra tracks to get sales over the line.
April 5, 201411 yr Author Wonder if the strategy will change under the new label or if the decision to cut short the campaigns have been down to Will. Not sure how I feel about re-releases. While it would mean more music and shorten the gap between albums it still smacks of milking the fans. Edited April 5, 201411 yr by truly talented
April 5, 201411 yr Must admit I think rereleases are a bit of a con. I can't see Will ever going along with that, he's always expressed an intention to do quality work. He was quick to distance himself from the Sony release of his Essential album.
