FORMER JLS hunk Marvin Humes is on the verge of signing a big bucks solo deal with a major record label.

 

The Voice host and Capital FM DJ hopes to put pen to paper and finalise the contract in the next week. Marv told fans to expect a new single by late summer and an album by the end of the year. But don’t expect to hear him singing because his vocals won’t feature on a single track. Revealing he has recorded over 40 songs, Marv told me: “I’m literally in the process of signing the deal right now. If it was in two weeks I would probably have signed and be able to tell you. All I can say is it will be with a major label and my project is coming together really, really well. I’ll definitely release a single this year and I’m confident I will release an album."

 

“I am the producer, the writer and the DJ on this project – a bit like Calvin Harris and Avicii who are killing it around the world. That’s where I want to be. I’m not the singer. I’ve been working on it for 18 months. Every single song will feature a different artist. I have my eyes on a lot of people and I have already recorded with a few of them. I have recorded a track with MNEK and I’ll work with all the JLS boys. JB has written one of the songs, maybe Aston will feature on one of them.I know Craig David well and we have actually talked about doing a collaboration before too.”

 

I must say I'm intrigued by this - I don't think anyone who's gone solo from a band like JLS has done what Marvin's doing. I'm excited to hear Aston's album too of course - but the approach Marvin's taking it - well it could work, especially with the people he's got involved that he's talking about. I thought he did a great job on The Voice as well - him and Emma Willis becoming presenters plus Kylie and Ricky Wilson becoming coaches really worked!

That would be pretty awesome. I'm most excited about the MNEK collaboration - I love the stuff he does on his own anyway, particularly the single he did with Gorgon City!

Interesting approach. This could work out well as he has a pretty big profile currently. I'm relieved he's not singing as his voice is so whiny.

I hope Rochelle provides the vocals to one of the tracks! She needs a solo song ASAP!

I'm interested as to what he'll be producing. Judging by JLS' singles I imagine it'll be really generic dance-pop but if he's going down the Calvin Harris/Avicii route it has potential to be good.

It wouldn't surprise me if he produced the next Saturdays single / saturdays or Rochelle appeared on his single!

Hahaha I just saw the pun there! He's actually doing a DJ set at a new club down the road from me at the weekend...debating whether to go or not!
