Another interesting bunch with the actual DNQs placing higher than the finalists. Cyprus and that middle aged hoe with a coma inducing ballad finished 2nd to last; Croatia and their boy choir schtick also didn't work and the song placed 13th. Georgia and that embarrassment of an entry finished only 15th despite almost closing the show. Malta was the surprise Top 10 (#8) and Romania's Cezar (hom)owned the audience but finished 13th.

Montenegro came 12th in their semi; Hungary managed 10th place in the final, Takasa flopped in the semi; Dina Garipova and an INCREDIBLY hypocritical song from Russia was 5th in the end, and Bulgarian Elitsa & Stoyan who initially came 5th in 2007 with 'Water' now DNQd and missed the final by at least 18 points. Oops

In reality Ireland came in last in the final while here they are opening the Top 20 with one of the smallest divergences in here. Italian sausagefest came Top 10 in the final while Serbia crashed in the semis and couldn't make it further. Eythor Ingi lipsynced for his life but came in only 17th. [Now sashay away]. Belarusian Alena towards whom AlexRange doesn't seem to have a lot of feelings which is perplexing to say the least! I mean she's blonde and female. Just afraid of FEMALES WITH BALLS (in this case a giant disco ball) I guess. :(

What the FUCK at Estonia and France being top fifteen?!

Why ever not? A nice ballad in the cutest language on Earth and a refreshingly dark fem ballad from France don't strike me as the sort of things propping up the top 30.

 

(that they're two of my favourites is nothing to do with this)

 

I'm more suprised at Moran, it wasn't that special of a ballad, really, and Belgium, as much as I've grown to like Love Kills it still feels as anonymous as ever in this lineup.

So putting L'enfer et moi in first slot was like the most ridiculous and unjust thing of ESC2013. Who even does that?! UK's dire entry finishes in 12th place. If it wasn't UK then it'd be somewhere between Malta and Georgia in these rankings, too. Oops. Without the UK connection it's just an old irrelevant bitch singing terribly about something irrelevant and no1curr-y. Moving on to the fish realness, we have Israel and Moran with her packed like sardines boobs and a dress that couldn't look more desperate. The next one was big as well but only because she was preggers. Birgit and her blandfest of a song is #14. Farid's homoerotic performance closes the group leaving him and that reflection man beating it off to the beat of 2nd place in the final and only 15th position here.

Gravity is all about the key changes. And it does have a melody... it's just very complicated for a pop song.

 

Was actually expecting it to win/come top 3, so seeing it prop up the top 10 is a little surprising.

 

(I don't know this Russian version of Et Uus Saaks Alguse but taking the languages against each other I find it hard to imagine Russian harshness beats out Estonian etherealality, Mr Range)

Technically tied with Belgium, Finland win by one extra 10 given to them. While being ridiculously basic and generic and/or shit as any song AlexRange gives 9+ points to is, Marry Me is really good to listen to live. Krista has so much charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent she could blow up. Although I saw her live drunk so that might have been 5th overpriced beer in a row talking i don't know. That said, I like how this song doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Combining that with the message Krista sent to the viewers on the Eurovision stage gives me more than enough reasons to respect and adore the song even though it's musically and aesthetically terrible.

Okay, this song was good at the beginning but got a bit too irritating by the end. Always skipping it now. You received SIX (out of 13 votes) 9's and only one person decided to give poor floppy Robin a 10. Even AlexRange (kinda) liked it so that's the sign that there's something wrong right there anyway. But yeah this is the highest-placed male contestant of the year.

 

 

'Gravity' is wonderful, pleased it made it into the top 10.
