90 Florence + The Machine Spectrum (Say My Name) [Calvin Harris Remix] 80

Calvin delivers once again with his take on 'Spectrum'. Florence's vocals are amazing as always, which really makes the song. Of course, I wouldn't love it as much if it wasn't for the dance beat, so thanks Calvin for that.

89 Rihanna Pour It Up 81

Urban jam of 2013 is at #89, and it really shows how good Rihanna is when it comes to making sexy songs. What I love about her is that she is so diverse. As a popstar, she doesn't only make the best pop songs but also the best RnB ones too. And remember Drunk in Love fans which female popstar used the trap beat first :)

~

88 Basto Gregory's Theme 81

Taking the elements of Avicii's 'Bromance' and somehow making it better, is Basto with 'Gregory's Theme'. I'm still not sure as to who Gregory is, but who cares when the song is this good. Progressive house at its finest.

~

87 Nicole Scherzinger Wet 82

So yeah, Nicole isn't just good for her looks, but is able to make good songs too, although recent efforts have been disappointing. The song is generic, but very sexy and danceable.

86 will.i.am T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) [feat. Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez] 82

will.i.am drops another hip-hop great, and the J-Lo and Mick Actual Jagger appearances just add to the iconicness of it. The rapping is great, and the beat is nice and bouncy. What's not to love?

~

85 Agnelli & Nelson Everyday 82

So yeah, the oldest song in this section by over 10 years, but what a song this is. It's a 7 minute long trance instrumental (a vocal mix does exist but it's not my preferred version) which isn't particularly remembered but is amazing anyway. Take a listen if you love 90s trance.

~

84 Nero Me & You 82

What an anthemic tune. Dubstep at its absolute best. It's very difficult to separate Nero's 3 big hits in terms of which I like the most, as they are all equally amazing, but this is the lowest of the three in terms of play count.

~

83 Emma Hewitt Colours 83

And now slowing down the tempo... It's probably not deserving of a place in my top 100, but it's wonderful despite that. Very chilled and downbeat, and the vocals are flawless.

~

82 LMFAO Champagne Showers (feat. Natalia Kills) 83

LMFAO  There was a time when I really loved what they were putting out, and despite this being a disappointing follow-up to Party Rock Anthem, I loved it anyway. Can they come back? plz.

~

81 Baauer Harlem Shake 84

And another novelty song up next. This is a well-produced trap song though, which I only discovered when the song and dance went viral. So thanks YouTube for that.

80 Nelly Furtado Big Hoops (Bigger the Better) 84

Nelly Furtado brought the swag and it was a comeback I could really get on board with. It still is my favourite of her songs, so of course it had to flop in the official charts. :/ (still annoyed)

~

79 Nero Promises 85

Nero's first and only UK #1 single, well to be honest it did surprise me that it got there and still does. It's basically a pop song but it's done Nero style so of course it's amazing.

~

78 Nero Guilt 85

Nero appear again! This is the last time you'll see them in the countdown though. Guilt is very well produced, something which I can't say for a lot of other dubstep songs. I actually went to Nero's Welcome Reality tour and as you would guess, their songs sounded really good at the event.

~

77 Chase & Status Blind Faith 85

This is another big tune, this time from Chase & Status who can make great songs when they want to. Obviously this is one of them. The female vocals in the chorus sum it up really, there's nothing to hate about anthemic dance music like this.

~

76 Madeon Icarus 85

The breakthrough hit from Madeon still is, by a long way, his best. The intro in particular is one of the best of its genre.

~

75 Nadia Ali Rapture (Avicii New Generation Remix) 85

Avicii shows us how to turn a decent 00s dance hit into a 10/10 club banger with this remix of 'Rapture'. It's classic prog house Avicii, and as much as I love his new stuff, I hope he remixes more songs in this way. Well he kinda did with his remix of Lay Me Down, but that's his own song so it doesn't count.

~

74 Storm Queen Look Right Through (MK Remix) 85

This was the real turning point that got me into deep house, everything about this song is amazing. I love an RnB voice on a dance track, as Waves and this show, but it is MK who really turns the song from okay to brilliant with the deep take on it.

~

73 DJ Fresh Hot Right Now (feat. Rita Ora) 86

Let's not forget that it was DJ Fresh who started the drum n' bass revolution with this. And what a song it was, so much energy in it and a lovely melody as well.

~

72 Armin van Buuren This Is What It Feels Like 86

Armin's had a massive few years for me, with some great tunes made, but one of them top the quality of this one. While catering to the commercial market it also doesn't ruin his credibility (Tiesto take notes) and has the Armin sound to it. The album this is taken from is one of my favourites of last year too.

~

71 will.i.am Scream & Shout 87

will.i.am knows how to get those iconic artists on his song, and the Britney feature works very well on this. It's a good party tune.

70 Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Garden 87

A great original electronica-pop song here. I love the sounds in this, it's just great to have something different and the production is very good in this.

~

69 Nicki Minaj Starships 87

Back when RedOne produced proper bangers and with a catchy chorus, it got me hooked.

~

68 Duke Dumont Need U (100%) 87

This is how you make a house tune. If his album is like this and I Got U, then it's gonna be amazing. I'm loving the house revival at the moment, as I've said many times, and this is one of the best songs to come from it. The vocals are generic but I don't care when the song is just so feel-good.

~

67 Nicole Scherzinger Right There (feat. 50 Cent) 88

And now for a song which just oozes sex appeal, showing that Nicole is at her best when she goes down the RnB route. My favourite PCD songs are Buttons and Beep so she must be doing something right with these urban jams.

~

66 Azealia Banks 212 (feat. Lazy Jay) 88

What a song this is. Fabuloux rappers over strong dance beats are always good, but this is the best. Banks has so much swagga and attitude in this song and I love it.

~

65 Passenger Let Her Go 90

Downtempo it may be, but it's beautiful, and with the unique voice, it makes for a great song.

~

64 DJ Fresh Gold Dust 90

Made up of both the original and the Shy FX edit, this is the highest drum n bass entry. It's very good, and as always with DJ Fresh songs of this type, very uptempo and fun. The vocals are a nice addition too.

~

63 Calvin Harris Feel So Close 91

It's not his best song, but as with most Harris songs, it's very good. It took a while for me to get used to his vocals on this, but once I liked them it made for a good tune.

~

62 Dev Bass Down Low (Tinie Tempah Remix) 92

Dev's voice as always sounds like half human half computer, which I like in a trashy female rapper kinda way. Tinie as always (well, at the time, not so much now) spits a good rap too.

~

61 Lady GaGa Born This Way 92

This is amazingly camp and trashy, a great comeback for her which had me very excited.

~

I did prefer the original version of "Impossible" to James Arthur's but too his credit his version is probably my favourite X Factor winners single. But then again when you're competition is Leon Jackson & Steve Brookstein that's hardly what I'd call an amazing feat

60 Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding I Need Your Love 92

Ellie's gorgeous vocals and the synth Calvin uses in the drop make for an all-round proper tune.

~

59 Rihanna Diamonds 93

Rihanna knows how to make a good tune, and this one is an example of the statement. She sings it like she means it, but doesn't go over the top, which I like in a pop voice.

~

58 Disclosure feat. AlunaGeorge White Noise 93

Whilst the vocals in this aren't the best I've ever heard, the song has the classic Disclosure sound to it which stands out as unique amongst other house musicians.

~

57 Lady GaGa Judas 94

If she released this song today I don't think I'd give it 94 plays, but at the time it sounded absolutely amazing and had everything I wanted from Gaga. The general dance-pop sound and the unique voice and lyric style made this song for me. It's very of its time, but still sounds good.

~

56 DJ Fresh feat. Sian Evans Louder 94

Well this is a tune. With stunning vocals and a big but melodic 140bpm beat of course it's gonna appeal to me. And the speed change at the end, wow. It shouldn't work but it just does, and makes the song a whole lot better.

~

55 Avicii Silhouettes 94

Did you know the singer on this is male? :o That was a surprise for me too. As for the song itself, it's your typical Avicii banger but it's slightly less in your face than Levels was, which actually works. Subtle is good imo (which is probably why I love house music more than bass music)

~

54 Robin Thicke feat. Pharrell & T.I Blurred Lines 94

I love a fun song, and that's exactly what it is. It's not meant to be taken seriously.

~

53 Rizzle Kicks Down With the Trumpets 96

This is another of those fun urban/pop songs, shame they went downhill after this (although Mama do The Hump was quite good)

~

52 Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji Pressure (Alesso Remix) 97

This is a terrific example of how progressive house should be done. I love how the beat stutters in the drop. And Nadia Ali's has one of the sexiest voices I've ever heard.

~

51 Example Midnight Run 99

Released in the peak of Example's career, after his 2 UK #1s (yet to come on this list), and it proved that he wasn't out of ideas just yet. The production in this is brilliant and Example's delivery of the lyrics suits them well.

50 Disclosure Latch 100

Top 50 time and from here on it's 100+ played songs only. Well this is one piece of brilliance and originality, and the song that got me into Disclosure. With it's bouncy rhythm and fabulous vocals, it makes for an enjoyable listen and bop

~

49 Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso Calling 100

The ever-brilliant Alesso always knows how to do progressive house right. And with a Swedish House Mafia member, nothing less than a banger would have been created.

~

48 Porter Robinson Language 100

Wow is all I can say. This song is just perfect  It gets you hooked from the opening piano chords and takes you high.

~

47 Barthezz On The Move (Riva Remix) 103

A beautiful underrated trance gem which is well worth a listen.

~

46 Hardwell Apollo 104

This song reminds me of 'Language' funny enough, but it's done Hardwell style which makes for a superb record which rightfully shot Hardwell into superstardom.

~

45 Swedish House Mafia Don't You Worry Child (feat. John Martin) 104

When vocals are put to a progressive house tune, it automatically gets Thermo's seal of approval - but this song gets more than that, as it's produced so well and the lyrics are emotional especially considering that this is the last ever song they made together.

~

44 Carly Rae Jepsen Call Me Maybe 105

Well it was very addictive  Don't judge me okay?

~

43 Bingo Players Rattle 105

The drop in this! I love how it's so different to the buildup, and I love the general feel to the song too.

~

42 Loick Essien How We Roll (feat. Tanya Lacey) 106

You can't get more generic than this, but it's a fun listen.

~

41 Wiz Khalifa Black and Yellow 106

Yeh, a-ha u know what it isssss. Such a swagtastic song, I love it when rap doesn't take itself seriously.

~

Loads of amazing songs here. Florence and Calvin always work together so well, Sweet Nothing is my favourite but Spectrum is also great.

Pour It Up was a great single, shame it never did great officially :(

I'm also a fan of all the Nero tracks, Guilt would be my favourite probably

Hot Right Now is also amazing, one of DJ Fresh's best

Silhouettes is my favourite Avicii track, so so so good

Judas is also one of my favourite Lady Gaga tracks, Do What U Want is her best though!

Call Me Maybe would be one of my most played too, it was so addictive at the time.

How We Roll is also great, very catchy and I think it would've topped my personal chart at the time if I had one :P

Great countdown, I enjoy reading it

40 Loreen Euphoria 108

When I lost hope in Eurovision ever producing a fantastic entry, this came. With vocals reminiscent of Florence Welch (on her dance songs, and yes I know it's not a great comparison as this came before that) and a strong backing dance track, I couldn't deny its brilliance.

~

39 Jessie J Domino 109

Jessie J has some really strong pop songs on her, and a good voice for them. This was unquestionably her best offering, pure pop at its finest.

~

38 AWOLNATION Sail 109

The ultimate grower of a tune, its riff is the real selling point here, but the unique vocal effect works well too.

~

37 Swedish House Mafia Greyhound 109

This really works as an instrumental, I love the way it builds.

~

36 Bastille Pompeii 111

After not having been sold on their other songs, this proved that they were better than every other indie band. I even listened to their album off the back of it. Kat Krazy's remix of this contributed about 30 plays to this total, that's worth checking out.

~

35 Pitbull Give Me Everything (feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer) 111

Love this, Afrojack still had his cool production back in 2011 even if it was watered down for this song, and Pitbull's verses on this are better than certain other songs of his

~

34 Yolanda Be Cool Afronuts (Dcup Remix) 112

Most of you probably don't know this song, but if you assume that it's a We No Speak Americano rip-off then you're wrong. It's very funky and well worth a listen.

~

33 Example Changed the Way You Kiss Me 112

Another impressive Example song, not so much because of him, but because of Michael Woods' production. It may as well be Woods feat. Example.

~

32 Imagine Dragons Radioactive 113

The third commercial indie song of the section, the genre has been back on form recently as this song is very good, especially with the dubstep-esque beat and the loud vocals.

~

31 Rihanna & Drake What's My Name? 114

Such a jam, I was obsessed with it at the time, mostly because it really suits Rihanna, but I love Drake's rapping too.

30 Swedish House Mafia & Knife Party Antidote 114

Not sure how this is my most played SHM song, as I much prefer Greyhound and Don't You Worry Child - but this is a proper tune. I love the edge that Knife Party give it.

~

29 Avicii Hey Brother 116

Now this is a piece of brilliance  Mixing country vocals and EDM wasn't something I expected could be done, but Avicii does it and he does it really good, making for an anthemic sing-along tune. Initially it wasn't my favourite album track but when it became a single I really got into it.

~

28 Skrillex Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites 120

The craziest song you'll find in the upper section of the chart, but it's very well produced and the noises are somehow not off-putting but add to the feeling of the song.

~

27 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Thfit Shop 121

Macklemore knows how to come up with clever lyrics, and this debut single from him was one of the best rap debuts I've ever heard, and rightfully became a megasmash.

~

26 Martin Garrix Animals 123

The now iconic EDM song takes you on a musical rollercoaster and makes you wanna go again just for the thrill of it. And all this from a 16 year old ;o (who is now 18)

~

25 Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams Get Lucky 125

Can songs get any funkier than this? After being disappointed by the lack of their signature robotic vocals I loved this for the pop song that it is, a fresh take on disco.

~

24 The Nightcrawlers Push the Feeling On (MK Version) 128

Another funky dance tune, which funny enough I discovered from MoS' compilation Funky House Anthems. If I allowed older songs to enter my personal chart at the time I discovered it, it would definitely have gone to #1.

~

23 Snoop Dogg Sweat (David Guetta Remix) 129

Gotta love auto tuned Snoop Dogg over a club dance beat ;)

~

22 LMFAO Sexy and I Know It 133

~

21 Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera Moves Like Jagger 136

What a catchy pop tune, it's no surprise that it racked up so many plays really although I prefer a lot of songs in this section to this.

gonna rush thru the rest of the countdown before I completely forget about it.

20 - 11

20 Example Stay Awake 137

A fine bassy production from Nero with rapping from Example. His singing voice isn't the best so rapping for the majority of the song is a nice change for him.

~

19 PSY Gangnam Style (강남 스타일) 138

Was my #1 single of 2012 but there are still one/two singles from that year to go, depending on if you count Titanium as a 2012 song. It's just so much fun this song is. Everything about it is iconic and rightfully so.

~

18 Alexandra Stan Mr Saxobeat (Extended Mix) 139

Notable for having a saxophone in a dance hit before it became trendy, the sexy vocals of Stan really sell it to me, as well as that sax. This is how you make a really good Eurodance hit!

~

17 Calvin Harris Bounce (feat. Kelis) 139

The song that kickstarted Calvin's comeback and his trademark formula which works so well, Bounce manages to be better than all his other works though with his choice of sounds. The vocals don't particularly make the song but they are a nice addition.

~

16 Gotye Somebody That I Used to Know (feat. Kimbra) 141

Really strong lyrics in this one and proof that indie-pop can work.

~

15 Lloyd Dedication to My Ex (Miss That) [feat. Andre 3000 & Lil Wayne] 143

This seems like a strange addition to the top 15 (not nearly as what's at #10 though! find out shortly) but it is very catchy, Blurred Lines does the job of this song better though but this got far more plays. Haven't actually listened to this for ages

~

14 Yolanda B Cool & D Cup We No Speak Americano 145

This is so good, love the bouncy beat in this and the updated housey 50s style is great.

~

13 Christina Perri Jar of Hearts 147

It's so beautiful that even a dance fan like myself was all over it at the time. Still listen to it every now and then when I'm in the mood for it.

~

12 Rihanna S&M 148

When Rihanna does dance-pop she does it really good, but this manages to be even better than her other songs of this style. Probably because it's very fun and has a brilliant chorus.

~

11 Rihanna We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris) 148

Rihanna doing full-on dance though is even better, the breakdowns make for an all-round great record and Rihanna being the great vocalist that she is really adds to what is basically a Calvin Harris record.

Stay Awake is one of my favourite Example songs, I remember rushing to buy it when it was released!

Both Rihanna songs there are among my favourites too, especially S&M!

oops I didn't even finish this countdown lol.

here's the top 10 and full chart anyway. I'll do a more up to date version of it soon

So yeah there's no competition for the top 2 as the only songs to ever get 200+ plays (and 300+ plays) finish the chart with Levels coming out on top but the very fun Party Rock Anthem close behind.

The amazing Titanium and Wake Me Up are at #3 and #4 respectively and finishing the top 5 is guilty pleasure / party anthem On the Floor by the power duo JLo + Pitbull.

The big anomaly here of course is Little Mix with their winning single 'Cannonball' which is mostly here cos I literally put it on repeat all day after they won oops.
