April 30, 201411 yr I'll be voting SNP so had to choose 'Other' in your poll. Think/hope they'll do well. Can't see UKIP doing overly much up here. Thankfully. -_- They could get a seat. I think it actually depends on whether the Tories get more votes than them (or failing that SNP, who could well pick up a third).
April 30, 201411 yr They don't poll high enough up here to keep their deposit. They ain't getting shit.
April 30, 201411 yr http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/blog/archives/8768 Good LORD. (and UKIP are on par with Conservatives and Lib Dems in Scotland amongst those certain to vote, so I wouldn't be so sure)
April 30, 201411 yr That says more about the Lib Dem vote utterly collapsing and suggests they won't win a seat more than anything else.
April 30, 201411 yr In fairness, those leads are slightly exaggerated by only taking those who say they were certain to vote (otherwise, UKIP's leads would "only" be about 4%). Even so, it's probably in the bag for them now.
April 30, 201411 yr Indeed. I think UKIP are almost certain to win, no scandal seems to be able to stop them!
April 30, 201411 yr I'm still sceptical about them topping the poll but if they do then at least it might wake the media up and make them realize they're going about this whole character assassination thing the wrong way. Hold Farage and UKIP up to the same standards as "mainstream" polticians and they'll crumble, there's no need to dig up one council candidate's old Facebook statuses. Our local Labour leaflets have started printing things like "do you want to pay to see your GP?". Simple, effective.
April 30, 201411 yr I know there's been blanket coverage of them the last week, but a jump from a single 3 point lead to leads of 9, 11 etc just seems outright bizarre.

However well they do this month, I still can't see them doing half as well in the GE, which is more important. How many people can even name their MEP? I can't! I can't see them getting a single seat next year.

May 1, 201411 yr Author I've started to watch all the Party Election Broadcasts on the BBC iPlayer. The Green Party's had me in stitches. I'm very unlikely to give them my #1, but at least they're making their 3 minute slot interesting.
May 1, 201411 yr The LieDem and the Labour bullshit arrived through the door this morning. The LieDems are claiming that they almost single handedly acquired £36m in funding for the University of St Andrews. Champion claim, but a complete and utter fallacy as the only people that have had anything to do with our extensive EU funding is the exceptionally gifted academics who put hours of hard work into winning some grants for some truly amazing projects.

I'm very unlikely to give them my #1, but at least they're making their 3 minute slot interesting. It's a shame that the fact that the Locals are on the same day probably means people will vote by how annoying the Greens can be in council rather than based on the good they're at least attempting in Europe.
May 1, 201411 yr The UKIP party broadcast makes me so angry. Such a pack of complete and utter bullshit. HOW are people buying this??? Seriously "we don't control our borders" bullshit. Last time I checked we weren't in the Schengen area and thus had full control over our borders. Except that one with Ireland but they aren't foreigners in UKIP's mind, that's why in a poster complaining about migrant workers it's perfectly ok to give the job to an actor from ROI.... The Green's was amusing, and not in a 'this is so full of shit it's hilarious' kind of way.
May 3, 201411 yr New YouGov poll has Labour 3% ahead of UKIP (and in the more interesting battle, Lib Dems at 9% just ahead of the Greens on 8%). These polls are all over the place. Edited May 3, 201411 yr by Danny
May 3, 201411 yr New YouGov poll has Labour 3% ahead of UKIP (and in the more interesting battle, Lib Dems at 9% just ahead of the Greens on 8%). These polls are all over the place. In fairness, they're roughly consistent within polling agencies, it's just when all compared against each other that they're all over (and the one that had the leads that looked deceptively huge was just a four point lead when reported like every other poll ever is, which really pisses me off considering how much has been made of it). And they're all roughly within the margin of error in terms of the figures, it's just saying it by the leads makes it sound all over the place: UKIP 33 - LAB 30 and LAB 33 - UKIP 29 both being totally reasonable within the margin of error, but it makes things seem haywire if the media reports it as a Labour lead of 4 being overturned by [insert story here media wishes to crowbar into narrative but which the vast majority of people probably didn't notice] to make a Ukip lead of 3, and then back again. Which is why in my planned dictatorship journalists will be forced to take a statistics module before they're allowed anywhere near a story involving polling, and those breaching this covenant will be sentenced to death by Karl Rove.

May 3, 201411 yr God I just noticed that. Yeah, like, the closest fight for first in any election in years totally beats out a DEATHFIGHT OF IRRELEVANCE over which party gets the sullen crossed arms left-wing protest vote to get three seats.
May 4, 201411 yr *sticks fingers in ears* In yet another YouGov poll, the Greens ahead of the Lib Dems!
May 4, 201411 yr I wonder whether the mauling the Lib Dems will inevitably get (again) in the Locals will further harm their chances of beating the Greens.
