I just watched this movie at the cinema. I have read that it had a disappointing first week in the Box Office but I wanted to watch this movie because of the official trailer! Johnny Depp (as Will Caster) was the leading actor and he was quite good for his role (as always). Rebecca Hole was the leading actress and she played the wife of scientist Caster (She was a scientist, too). She is suitable for this role because we have watched many bimbos as scientists in the past. And that was very funny. At least, Rebecca could handle perfectly her role. The screenplay was very interesting and I realised that this movie had a philosophy about Artificial Intelligence. Wally Pfister is the director of the movie and "Transcendence" is his first personal movie. He usually works about the cinematography of movies. His most notable works are "Memento", "Batman Begins" "The Prestige", "The Dark Knight", "Inception" and "The Dark Knight Rises". So, he has worked with Christopher Nolan many times in the past. And in the latter, he is one of the executive producers. The cast was very good. Apart from two leading actors, Paul Bettany, Morgan Freeman and Cillian Murphy took part in this movie. The beginning and the first half of movie were very good. However, it was a bit slow at the end of the movie. It had some cliche scenes and the scene of fighting wasn't very good (It reminded me of B movies). However, the movie was very good overall. I can't believe that it has already gotten low ratings in IMDB. I think that it deserves to be much higher. I'm sure that the fans of Johnny Depp were disappointing about this film because they thought that they would watch an adventure/sci-fi movie with him. But it was food for thought. It helped you to think more about things you know. And that was very good. We rarely watch sci-fi movies with intellectual nourishment nowadays. Surely, it wasn't the best film of the year but i couldn't say that it was one of the worst. It was a decent movie which deserves the attention of public. I hope it will manage to overtake its budget worldwide ($100.000.000)!

Actually I've seen trailers for this, I was in two minds over it, but I'm watching it tomorrow its not going to cost me anything, as I have a free voucher to see a free movie, so I give my review when I've seen it. Usually Johnny Depp's movies are a bit of a hit or miss with me, I've never seen him in a decent movie without full blown make up as Jack Sparrow.

I would suggest you to watch this movie. If you like science fiction films with deep philophical meaning (and not only visual effects), "Transcendence" will be a good choice for you. Watch it carefully at the cinema.

Saw it today, Johnny Depp was very much not doing anything OTT acting-wise, the plot is interesting, the cast is good. Negatives, a bit slow and a tad overlong, and there is one huge gaping plothole left staring at you after the finale - I'm reminded of Hitchhikers Guide "Brain the size of a planet and...." fill in your own punchline,

but suggest a nice cliched phrase like "it pays to talk" as a good moral

Godzilla looks surprisingly good and it's got the awesome Bryan Cranston in it, so I already like it. B-)
