I think they'll revert back to the old way of adding up the jury and televotes next year because it is wrong that winning a country's televote equates to no points at all.

The juries will stay, until there's a winner that didn't win the televote.

Maybe the countries participating in the final only should be all jury votes and the countries who dont make the final be purely televotes, could that work?

or make it population based, just announce total votes cast per country with the running totals on the leader board.

on the one hand Russia's votes would count for a lot (as would the UK's and the rest of the Big 5) but all those teeny tiny eastern block countries (and a few western even tinier less-than-the-population-of-Dorset countries) would have much less impact. I suspect this year Polans would have done much better under that system, the winners would have been the same, and Russia much worse.

Pure speculation and no chance of ever being adopted cos the little ones would all pull out, of course. :o

It would also make it near impossible for a large country to win, because they can't vote for themselves, but they're casting more votes for other people than they're eligible to receive back.

Good god, we've had this system for five years now. Can people stop using the result to call for a radical change in the system to their preferred way just because a few jury members didn't like Poland? It's hardly much of a reason to uproot it all or scrap juries entirely. The simplest solution would just be a small reversion to the 2009-2012 jury/televote system.

tirren where is ur polish pride???? i know u were hookin ur balloons up for jesus and churning butter as soon as u heard that opening note

(ps i honestly didn't know there was massive jury things involved oops, i think it should be abolished because taste is subjective and who is to say the juries know so much better that there should be so much weight in their choices?)

I like the juries doing full rankings as it has significantly reduced the effect of diaspora voting, even more so than the top 10 ranking version did. I bet everyone imagined that Portugal's 12 points was going to Spain this year, but they didn't!

I would like to see juries with more people in though, at least 10 or maybe even 15. This way, if all 10/15 jurors do put the countries in very similar orders (such as Azerbaijan and Belarus this year) then there is no way it can be called a coincidence and they should be invalidated just as Georgia's apparently were this year. The only problem this leaves is the tactical voting as seen in particular by the jury in Armenia this year.

It's never been perfect and it never will be perfect. But the fact a song can win the televote and then not receive any points from that county is ridiculous.

If I've worked it out correctly, with the top 10-only voting system, Portugal would've given 4 points to Spain thanks to their 3rd place in the televote (but out of the top 10 with the juries) giving them a rank of 7th overall. As it was, Spain were ranked 11th overall by Portugal.

I'm totally PRO-POLAND (it's been a fave since back in OH FEB) but I'm totally not in favour of deciding voting systems by how they treat songs I love.

I think the current system empowers juries too much whereas the top ten of juries and televoters balanced it out. I like the jury system because it does seem to mitigate diaspora voting where immigrant populations just vote en masse for their home country (which wasn't the case with the UK and Ireland voting for Poland, as the Polish community's oddly enough one of the most inactive when it comes to diaspora voting - they don't really seem to care about the contest), but I don't like the effective ability to negatively vote of the current system.

If be honesty, Poland don't deserve any single point with this "song".

Oh BORE OFF. I thought Eurovision died for you on Saturday? I don't want you in this forum anymore if all you're going to do is bitch and whine unconstructively about a contest you've insisted is dead to you whilst throwing out implicitly homophobic and racist sentiments.

Quite. :( I wish there was a way to make Top 2 of each ranking, jury and televote, have a slightly bigger impact on the overall result. But really Poland wouldn't have won so it doesn't really matter THAT much.

That's all I'm asking for. I just don't want juries to be able to completely pull a televote favourite out of our points because they all hate it.

I was heavily surprised by the lack of votes from Portugal to Spain this year.

So was Spain  The reaction was priceless.

My favourite reaction was the Belarusian woman's face to the Russian votes getting booed still.

I liked the Polish song!

Also where are these detailed analysis of jury/ tele splits, which page?

The eastern nations need to at least TRY and make it look like they vote fairly! The most difference is 5 points while, for example, in Sweden someone put Poland Top 5 and the other person - bottom 5!
omg in Armenia people also voted for Austria but the juries KILLED it completely ugh
