Posted September 4, 200618 yr I know she is quite cheesy and all that but I been listening to all of her songs today and I didnt realise how good her songs were. I know a lot of people slag her off but if you actually listen to her songs I think you may be quietly suprised.
September 4, 200618 yr Hmmmm, I rather think she qualifies as Retro my friend.... ...And, sorry, but she was pretty ruddy hideous....
September 5, 200618 yr isnt she doing a greatest hits album soon Doesn't make her any less of a "Retro" act though....
September 5, 200618 yr i think this thread highlights the damage waterman has done to the music industry....
September 5, 200618 yr I was never to keen on her to be honest. As a child I did own her first album though. A guilty pleasure. Didn't she do a song with Big Fun? I think she did
September 5, 200618 yr i think this thread highlights the damage waterman has done to the music industry.... Absolutely.. His "music" is a crime against humanity as far as I'm concerned....
September 5, 200618 yr Author Ow come on yes they were cheesy but pure pop. They PWL gave us some amazing pop songs. I knew i would be alone liking Sonia but in general i think her music was quite good
September 5, 200618 yr id suggest that 10% of pwl were acceptable, indeed some are classics like 'you spin me round (like a record)', but 90% of their output was just the same track, mimed over by some no-hoper. the point is, that us older ones saw a time where artists were creative enough to form a decent popsong, people who have something to say for themselves. many of you 'under 20's ' have only ever known a time where manufactured pap is the norm, you have grown up with it and readily accept it as 'music'. its a pity really that so many accept so little, music needs variety, characters, trends, talent!
September 5, 200618 yr Author You prob right. I was 8 in 1988 so i loved them and evrything that was released (Especially Kylie lol). But i can understand it was just manufactured stuff to older people
September 5, 200618 yr  i liked that song ermmm what was it youll never stop me from loving you :)

But i can understand it was just manufactured stuff to older people put it like this... if there was nothing ever but waterman type stuff, would we have been world leaders in music and fashion?.. no. we would have had nearly 50 years of bland mush..
September 5, 200618 yr At the end of the day there is nothing wrong with fanufactured pop music expecially by PWL. it was harmless disposable pop that people enjoyed at the time and some people have fond memmroies of now. There is nothing wrong in that.
September 5, 200618 yr disposable music for a disposable generation... theres so much more to music then a 3 minute jingle, and 'feel good' music is only 1 manifestation. but i guess a big mac has more appeal to some over a 5 course meal..

There is nothing wrong in that. Is that all you want though..? Rubbish music from a bunch of talentless tossers...? It's because of Waterman that Pop is a dirty word, he just dragged it into the gutter. Before that Pop was Human League, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Culture Club, Madness, etc, etc... These days, these bands would probably be considered ruddy 'Alternative' or summat......
September 5, 200618 yr I was never to keen on her to be honest. As a child I did own her first album though. A guilty pleasure. Didn't she do a song with Big Fun? I think she did Yes she did do a duet with them (You've Got A Friend, 1990), not the James Taylor song. All proceeds went to the childline charity.
