The deadline for cities/venues to submit a bid to host the event is today! Some guidelines were set out a couple of weeks ago

The venue must be available for a period of 6 weeks prior to the contest, as well as two dates in January and March for inspection with exclusive access

The venue must be covered, sound and light insulated, be air conditioned, and have a capacity for a minimum of 10,000 spectators after the stage and technology instalments are set, and a 300 person capacity for green room area for artists and delegations (can be in the hall, or adjacent to the venue)

Minimum ceiling height of 15m required

6,000 sq. ft. open area (in addition to the above) for backstage, logistics (catering, wardrobe, make-up rooms, viewing room, commentary boxes)

Appropriate press centre area for 1,500 journalists

Space for hosting the sponsors with a capacity of around 1,000 guests must be available

And it's looking like an interesting race!

One of the front-runners in the search, the Stadehalle in Vienna, has no less than 18 events scheduled within the required takeover date that Austrian broadcaster ORF outlined over a week ago. This would offer an ideal location to host the event due to the size, location to the city centre, and multiple smaller halls on-site to house the press centre, dressing rooms, and more.

The other potential venue in Vienna, the Messe Wien, will also play host to an international conference for 10,000 liver doctors during the required takeover dates.

While the conflicts within these two venues does not rule out Vienna or these locations as hosts, it will certainly make the decision a harder one. Salzburg Governor Wilfried Haslauer recently stated that the competition would not be held in his city as the event does not fit within the art forms they would like to promote.

Innsbruck now look to be a major contender as an alternative to Vienna with the Olympiahalle apparently meeting all requirements and having a capacity for 12,000.

ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster has announced today that 3 cities have been shortlisted in their bid to host the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. Hence Vienna, Innsbruck and Graz will competing against each another in order to host Europe’s favourite television show next year.

Whilst Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle is the hot favourite to host the event, Innsbruck’s OlympiaWorld and Graz’s Graz Stadthalle are also strong contenders in the grand race. One of the 3 cities and venues will host the 60th Eurovision Song Contest next year. The announcement of the 2015 Eurovision venue and host city is expected before August.

As I've said before the Vienna venue looks great from the photo I posted on the previous page so I'd love that to be chosen!

I'm hearing via Twitter that the dates have been pushed back a week to 19th/21st/23rd May as all of the contending venues should be available, this is coming from someone at ORF.
Bugger. If I'm still at my current job next year I'll be in Germany at a printing event from 18-23 May!

Nothing massive but I think the new one edges it for me.

I'm liking the new one more as well. Loving the 'song contest' font especially.

Really like those small changes, it's great to have a refresh to the logo while still not changing it to dramatically.
I like it. It's a lot cleaner, and it makes sense to have the rest in Gotham font now given they've moved so far away in the last few years from the graphics that the old font was more suited to.
yay wiener
Booked a hostel for the Eurovision week in case I go <3
Hope I can finally go to eurovision next year! Although I won't be able to book until closer to the time so I hope flights and hotels don't get crazy expensive!
