Russians Are Shaving Their Beards In Reaction To Conchita

Remember how people in Russia and Belarus launched petitions to ban television stations from broadcasting Eurovision if Wurst took part?

And how the audience at Eurovision didn’t exactly give Russia the warmest of reactions during the contest?

Well, this is how Russian broadcaster Andrei Malakhov responded to Wurst’s win, tweeting he was “shocked” at the result.

it won't be a big loss if Russia leave Eurovision tbh, would much prefer that than the banning of LGBT people in the contest

Oh, Russia will never withdraw. Not over this at least. Maybe if one day the entire Top 5 is filled with drag queens and flamboyant gays then yes but not now. Either way, I don't quite care as well - I won't stop loving Eurovision because of something like that.

Storm in a teacup. A very tiny homophobic misogynistic teacup.

All incredibly ironic and ridiculous though given Russia gave Conchita 5 points and it finished Top 3 in the televote! Yet they all make those omg we sawww funnaeeee memes etc. stating that conchita's victory was EUROPE'S decision. Haaaaaaaaa

Any gay, lesbian or indifferent in Russia probably voted in secret for Austria. Russia is a terrible country for anyone who is indifferent and this day and age it is not acceptable. I remember the day my brother told me he was gay and he was so nervous and stressed and as i said to him, it doesnt make the slightest difference once your happy.

I don't understand this. The Russian televote alone would have given Conchita 8 points. It's like the left hand is doing one thing and the right hand is doing something completely different.

Sounds like a vocal minority getting their panties in a twist.

I couldn't care less if Russia left, they never send anything I like anyway.

It's basically just the right-wingers in Russia. I'd pay only slightly more attention to it than a statement from Ukip reported as 'British demand 'straight' Eurovision' ought to get.

Russian authorities forbid supporting Conchita Wurst, drag queen who won Eurovision

Prohibition relates to the fear of clashes between gay activists and people who defends anti "gay propaganda 'law.

The Russian authorities banned the holding of a parade in celebration of the victory of Austrian Conchita Wurst drag queen in this year's Eurovision, arguing that they want to avoid clashes between gay activists and the population defends anti "gay propaganda 'law in the country.

"Rise Like the Phoenix," the theme that led to victory Conchita Wurst, eventually rising to the first of the themes of the Russian bestseller iTunes store table. See the video below.

The victory of bearded drag queen would open to criticism by Russian politicians, Dmitry Rogozin, deputy prime minister, saying that it showed "the supporters of European integration the European future: a bearded young girl."

Vladimir Zhirinovsky also, nationalist politician said in an interview with a Russian TV channel: "there is no limit to how we feel affronted It's the end of Europe Became wild Already have men and women have this....." Zhirinovsky goes even further, adding, "fifty years ago the Soviet army occupied Austria. Made a mistake in freeing her. We should have stayed."

Remember that in 2013 Russia implemented a series of anti "gay propaganda 'law, arguing that these laws were made to protect minors.
