Don't know if it has been mentioned, but this was track of the week on music channels this week :P
like the song, LOVE the video. its simple but is pure eye candy - gorgeous colour scheme and loving the scenes with the oil spill doors. pleasantly surprised!

What have you done to Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros Leah?

I mean, this isn't too bad and as the first thing I've heard from her I'm pleasantly surprised. Sample is nice because it comes from a great song but I don't know... it feels a little out of place? Cute video at least.

She said on Twitter she'll be starting a radio tour. Hopefully that should get her airplay up a bit! It's such a shame because with good airplay, this would be a massive hit! Still only in the lower reaches of the top 1000 on iTunes!

Amazed this is so low on pre-orders (I guess it shows how The Voice compares to XFactor)! I'll be even more amazed if this doesnt make top 10!! really like this song...

Snubbed left right and centre by radio stations! :(

Can't be bothered to check pop bars, but earlier it was at #595 on iTunes.

One saving grace so far is that the pre-order positions so far is better than where DJ Fresh's new single released last week was at this same point, and that managed to scrap into the top 10 despite streaming. The crucial bit now which will decide whether this is a low top 20 hit, low top 10 hit or top 5 hit will be whether TV airplay continues to increase and whether she has any good promotion lined up on TV and radio programmes.

Last week at #42 on TV airplay chart, so hopefully top 40 this week.

I wonder why it's being snubbed. Is it because The Voice UK is associated with floppy acts and they're not willing to take the risk with Leah? (even though hit maker will.i.am is on it and Becky Hill just had a #1) Is it because Naughty Boy has a song called Home and radio don't wanna play 2 songs with the same name at the same time? Strangeeeee

It's probably going to do a 'Lighthouse' (Lucy Spraggan) at best now, Lucy had no major radio station airplay but a decent sized fanbase to allow her to end up at #26 I think. I'd suggest something similar for Leah.

I think it is a nice enough song but I don't think it's convincing enough commercially to warrant support from either Capital or Radio 1. Capital rarely support acts unless they've become successful first while maybe Radio 1 don't believe in her. It's a shame because she was amazing on The Voice.

Hang on, is she even signed to a major label? That might explain why no major radio station has been on board.

I don't know what else she could've released though, the song has had nothing but praise all over the Internet plus will.i.am is featured on the single. I'm not sure what else she could've done to get support. She's signed to Capitol which I think is quite a major label, unfortunately it looks like they've let Leah down and not put enough effort it with the major stations as there is no reason why she shouldn't be playlisted.

It's actually doing rather decently on pre-orders and has been gaining rather good television airplay. The song itself is rather incredible so I can see it debuting within the top 15 tbh.

Lucy's pre-order did pretty well - it peaked in the top 150 I think initially, and despite being a single pre-order I think it was £1.99 due to it having a couple of B-sides which would have decreased the amount of pre-orders. Lucy's only support seemed to be TV airplay as well.

I think if Leah managed top 20 it would be very very good considering the support she's had.

she isn't marketable. nothing that comes from the voice has any sense of edge or credibility, her name and image do not help either and nor does a single 4 years + out of date help.

i wish ppl here at times would have a bit more perspective in terms of personal taste > music charts > publics taste

i wish ppl here would take into account the pre-orders for a track - it's gaining airplay on a daily basis and I fully expect it to be top 20 so obviously it must be somewhat appealing to some members of the public.

I do adore the song but I do think Leah is marketable and with the increasing airplay and increasing pre-orders I can see it managing to do okay in the charts - poor radio airplay will cost the song in the long term but I do think she is marketable. I would say the majority here are being realistic and are being perspective in terms of " personal taste > music charts > public taste".

Considering her non-existent radio airplay, her pre-order is doing incredibly well (compare it to the likes of 'Sirens' and 'Lay Me Down' which are reliant on TV airplay like Leah is at the moment) so that would suggest that there is a market for her. She seems a very marketable artist to me and Becky Hill has done perfectly fine from The Voice, admittedly through a different type of music.

I don't agree about her not being marketable. I think the general concept of marketability related to artists is a lot broader now than it had been. She's developed a very distinctive image which always helps and I really don't think we still live in a time where things like her name are deemed problematic and must be changed into something more snappy(!) or whatever (although there are still many examples of this happening recently, but I think it's less necessary now overall). Someone like Sam Smith or Jessie J* wouldn't have seemed marketable in the traditional sense of the word a decade ago. It works now though because the market embraces difference/non-obvious, alternative looking popstars and I also think the stigma attached to talent shows has reduced considerably and less importance is given to 'credibility' and 'authenticity' by the public (even if it's a sort of ironic level of enjoyment of talent show products by some people).

Basically, I'm rambling but I think the music matters more to consumers now and I don't believe Leah is the problem. I do agree that radio stations are probably still hesitant when it comes to The Voice-related artists, however. In my mind, the song, particularly with the will.i.am feature, is strong enough to overcome that though so I think she's been quite unfortunate with the lack of support.

*perhaps not the best examples for various reasons but it's late and I definitely think I have a point to this!

She is a marmite artist in terms of image, and Lord knows what the Americans would make of her- but at least she is distinctive image wise and vocally.

I still have the feeling this song will break through and make top 10, even 5...

I just think it's slightly bland. Don't get me wrong I really like the song (well, the chorus), I just think it's somewhat lacking for a debut single. The same can be said for Amelia's 'California'. It's very MOR and the verses just consist of her asking questions. But then you've got a point... what else could she have done? Anything too bold and "specific" could have ended up as a disaster.

I think she is just suffering the same fate as MKS due to Radio 1 being slightly narrow-minded and traditional in their ways. They didn't believe in MKS because it is unheard of that three original members of one successful group could reunite to form another successful group. With Leah, it's more like it is unheard of that a The Voice contestant can have a solo hit single.

Who knows though - maybe Leah has an amazing second single planned. Especially if she's releasing her album off the back of it.
