Someone like Sam Smith or Jessie J* wouldn't have seemed marketable in the traditional sense of the word a decade ago.

*perhaps not the best examples for various reasons but it's late and I definitely think I have a point to this!

Seriously? They're two good-looking mainstream popstars in their early twenties who make extremely commercially-safe radio friendly music. Unless I'm missing the point that's been marketable since pretty much the days of the teenybopper acts of the late 1950s.

Looking at this year's #1s there's not many I see that definitely wouldn't have got anywhere near in 2004 - Pitbull or any rappers wouldn't have gone anywhere near 'Timber' or 'Tsunami', a fair few of the dance hits (My Love, Nobody To Love, Gecko) would have been huge club hits but completely missed the singles top 40, and 'Hideaway' would have been ignored, but otherwise release the likes of Money On My Mind, She Looks So Perfect, Ghost, Happy, Rather Be etc and you've got a #1 easily even then.

She's going to be performing on the national lottery tonight!

Tomorrow? And finally she's doing some promo!

Dont think its over for Leah yet- it could catch on after some TV exposure, not an orthodox route but Home is damn catchy (not as good a song as Ghost though, too 'twee')
I got to catch her performance on National lottery and it reminded me just how amazing her voice is . She also sang Wills part and it actually sounded better I really hope this does decently for her !

I've just downloaded this from iTunes, so good to finally be able to buy a Leah single!

She started off nervous with a few bum notes but got hold of it and did a decent job, have heard her do better though.

Up to #32 on iTunes so hopefully gives her a springboard to make top 10.

Fantastic article from Popjustice here that sums up how stupid BBC Radio is!

That article hits the nail on the head. Leah should have had a hit, but she didn't for all those reasons listed.
