This movie released in my country yesterday. It is based on a true story and it seems very interesting. Three teenagers were convicted for killing three young boys and subsequently sentenced to life in prison. It's directed by Atom Egoyan. Reese and Colin have the leading roles. I will go to watch it the next week.

 

Now I watched the trailer for this earlier ahead of the UK release this week and it looks really intriguing and I love a bit of Reese but the score on Rotten Tomatoes is really low (but the same can be said for "A Million Ways To Die..." and I really enjoyed that so what do they know).

 

Between this and "Belle" though, I'll probably choose the latter instead.

I noticed that it has an average score in IMDB too. The story reminds me of Stephen King's novels which it's a good reason to watch it but I guess that it will have many cliches and naive conclusions. Nevertheless, my friends want to watch this movie.

I watched this movie at the cinema today. I wanted to watch “Devil's Knot” because I found the official trailer very interesting. “Devil's Knot” is based on a true story. Three teenagers were convicted for killing three young boys and subsequently sentenced to life in prison. Atom Egoyan directed the movie. Egoyan is a recognizable director worldwide and five of his old movies have had a nomination for the Palme d'Or in the Cannes Festival (Exotica, The Sweet Hereafter, Felicia's Journey, Where The Truth Lies, Adoration). Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon have the leading roles. The former plays a private investigator and the latter plays a devastated mother. They were convincing with their characters. The rest of the cast is quite good. You can't be sure about anything in this movie. Everybody is a suspect and the viewers will change their opinions many times during the movie. There is mystery in the whole atmosphere. This movie has many dialogues and some viewers maybe get tired of this. This happened because there are many scenes in the court. However, it would be very diffcult for the director to avoid this because the story never had a loud and clear explanation. The screenplay was well-written and the direction represented correctly those years.

I'm not sure why this movie has a low rating in IMDB. Maybe some viewers were expecting to watch a hardcore movie based on satanic rituals, human scarify e.t.c. “Devil's Knot” was certainly a thriller police detective film which tended to be a courtroom drama at the end of it. I think that it's the best choice for someone who loves to discover who is the guilty of the crime. It's also the classic story which you talk about with your friends when you leave from the cinema. It's not the best movie that I'ever watched in my life but I think that it deserves much more than an average rating.
