September 9, 200618 yr People say Dido is boring because she is a normal woman. You don´t need to wear like a dive just because you had a million selling album... People who listen to pop usually don´t want music, they want clowns to entertain the public. Dido doesn´t do a good job to entertain people with celebrity fight news, in and out of rehab, or coreographies on the TV. People only buy her albums because of her music. Personally, I think the most dull and boring things on music are indie bands which sound all the same and r´n´b artists whose songs come all from the same factory (Timbaland, Pharell, P Diddy etc.). It feels like it´s always the same artist on the top of the charts just with a different front facer singer.

September 9, 200618 yr it really annoys me when people bash kelly clarkson like saying she`ll be forgotten in how ever many years. how d u know thta how do u not know that she could be remebered like madonna is and will be or mariah or whitney. just cos she isnt up to the last two standards(madonna she beats easily) deosnt mean she wont be around and remebred. For example britney isnt a great singer but i be she will be remebered in 50 years time!kelly clarkson is a real talent and could be around then! just cos u dont like her dont say she WONT be cos thats just stupid!

I agree that she is just a generic pop-rock singer, but at least she doesn't seem to be making out she's anything other than that, unlike some of her pop peers. (Justin Timberlake for one...). Whether she, or anyone else, will be forgotten or remembered remains to be seen, but if we're saying Will Young will be remembered for being the first Pop Idol I reckon the Americans at least will remember Kelly Clarkson as the first American Idol winner. As for Dido, I don't really care how much she's sold. I just don't 'get' her. Perhaps I'm looking at it the wrong way. She probably sells because she's inoffensive rather than any special quality she has. Her voice may be "beautiful" to some, but to me it sounds like someone wailing because they have a bit of a toothache. That will probably be the inspiration for Dido's next single.

That will probably be the inspiration for Dido's next single. well said, i agree :) kelly clarkeson wont be remembered, she just wont be around that long. shes not the first 'rock chick' and she wont be the last, shes nothing new, just avril part 2. her appeal is for a transitory audience, unlike mariah etc who have a loyal easily pleased fanbase. that in fact is to kelly clarkesons favour! lol. the most anoying thing about dido is her failure to pronounce the words shes whispering... singing. she is just very very bland.

Kelly Clarkson is just this year's Allanah Myles or Carol Decker, just another "rock chick" who's pretty much identikit to all the other "rock chicks" who have come and gone since the days of Stevie Nicks, who actually is memorable because she pretty much started the whole thing off in the 70s and 80s with her 'big-hair' ballads and the fact that she was the one that everyone knew from legendary 'Soft Rock' act Fleetwood Mac.... And in what way, exactly, does Kelly Clarkson 'beat' Madonna....? :rofl: Sure, she has her place and everything, but let's not pretend that she's anything special or pushing any boundaries
September 10, 200618 yr Well, whatever, not matter how many people in this post think Dido is boring, the millions of people who bought her albums don´t think so... Whatever she is boring or not, she is herself, and not who she needs to be to sell more records. Others like Kelly, Christina, Justin and Co. are just singers that are hired to put their voices into a pre-recorded track manufeactured by some mega hitmaker producer. If Dido was only selling records for being innofensive, then it would be so much easier for any other artists to sell records, since there are millions of "inofesive" artists. Slagging other celebrities, marryng someone you barely known, going to rehab, or shoot a video wearing bikini hardly makes someone´s music better. Being offensive doesn´t mean being good. That why indie bands are c**p - too much yelling, drug addiction, controversial quotes, magazine covers, but not much MUSIC.

September 11, 200618 yr Kelly Clarkson didn't even write the majority of her album, she had no credits on her first 3 singles. She did some fairly typical (but popular) pop/rock.
