September 7, 200618 yr Undoubtedly Kelly Clarkson. She's an ARTIST, not a GENRE. She wasn't the first to do pop-rock and she won't be the last. I used to like her, but can't stand her now as every bloody song needs to be compared to her these days  Seriously?? People are thinking that Kelly Clarkson is all that???? Fukk me, whoever's spouting that sort of bollocks needs to listen to Bonnie Tyler, Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart), Stevie Nicks or Carol Decker/T'Pau - they did what Clarkson is doing about 20 -odd fukkin' YEARS before Clarkson even sent in an audition tape.... And frankly I'd rather listen to any one of these above examples than Clarkson any day, because Kelly is doing absolutely NOWT differently, and she aint even doing it half as good.....

She has a great powerful voice when she sings ballads live :(
September 7, 200618 yr Oasis. The most overrated band ever, I hate them. The Kooks at the moment too, but they won't last.
September 7, 200618 yr She has a great powerful voice when she sings ballads live :( I've heard Kelly Clarkson sing live, frankly I thought she sounded terrible.... Seriously, listen to Stevie Nicks or Carol Decker and tell me Clarkson is actually doing anything different to them, or better. It's all to do with history again, and the apparent revisionism of such yet again. Kelly Clarkson herself is nothing more than a sum of the parts of those who preceded her, and, frankly I doubt she will endure or be remembered as much as Stevie Nicks has 20, 30 years down the line...

Kelly isn't great at singing fast songs such as since you been gone, she covered a version of annie lennox's why on tour and it was great, annie obviously sings it better as it is her song but kelly has alot of power in her voice, it comes across better live rather than on the tv. It is harder to be remembered these days as there are more singers about non?
September 7, 200618 yr Christ, so many it's hard to know where to begin...... Arctic Monkeys The Kooks Evanescence Keane Coldplay Dido The Automatic Babyshambles My Chemical Romance Fall Out Boy Fightstar Panic! In The Disco U2 People rate Babyshambles?
September 7, 200618 yr People rate Babyshambles?  The NME and certain newspapers who should know better seem to.....
September 7, 200618 yr Author Yeah, but history is history. Seriously in the next 50 odd years will we be talking about acts that have been around 50 years before out time now? No not really. They will most probaly be talking about acts such as Kelly Clarkson. Things move through time, music changes
September 7, 200618 yr Author Kelly Clarkson will be long forgotton in 50 years time  Yeah but for acts such as Britney, Christina etc. thats what I mean lol. I chose Kelly Clarkson as an example as the people above where talking about her. You never know, she's already done one album already and she's done millions worldwide already, so I expect she will be around for a long time ^_^

They will most probaly be talking about acts such as Kelly Clarkson. Things move through time, music changes Rubbish. Kelly Clarkson will be consigned to the dustbin of history inside of 5 years along with Bonnie Tyler, who is Clarkson's most clear predecessor only to be brought out occasionally in one of those "50 Most Embarrassing Female Atists of the 2000s" type of things that they'll probably do in 20-odd years time.. Simply because Kelly Clarkson just does not have the quality to be remembered, unlike Annie Lennox, unlike Deborah Harry. And, I reckon you could go 100 years into the future and people would STILL be listening to the likes of The Beatles and the Stones..... And, erm, you know that guy Mozart?? People still know who HE was...... Quality is remembered, banality is quickly forgotten....

Yeah but he isnt exactly making music like.. say for instance, Madonna. And people know him because you HAVE to know him really, I renember we spent a whole term in school once studying him, I dont know any school that gets them to study madonna
September 7, 200618 yr Yeah but he isnt exactly making music like.. say for instance, Madonna. And people know him because you HAVE to know him really, I renember we spent a whole term in school once studying him, I dont know any school that gets them to study madonna Well, guess what Josh, Mozart WAS the Madonna, the Robbie Williams, the John Lennon, the Sex Pistols of his day in terms of his impact upon people - he was a POPULIST composer who wrote music for the people and he was despised by the establishment. Mozart WAS the earliest Pop Star!! Just happened to be a fukkin' musical genius as well...... You didn't study Madonna at school..? I did, in my Media Studies class, we critically analyzed Madonna's "Like A Prayer" video....

It is harder to be remembered these days as there are more singers about non? I'm not a huge fan of Annie Lennox's music, but I certainly respect her and I rate her incredibly highly as a singer. Kelly Clarkson doesnt even register as a blip on the radar compared to Annie, sorry, but that's how I feel.... Kelly Clarkson having the nerve to cover Annie Lennox is merely Karaoke....
September 7, 200618 yr Yeah but for acts such as Britney, Christina etc. thats what I mean lol. I chose Kelly Clarkson as an example as the people above where talking about her. You never know, she's already done one album already and she's done millions worldwide already, so I expect she will be around for a long time ^_^ Kelly Clarkson has done TWO albums. :P Scott could you please tone down your language a bit, it's always fukkin' this or fukkin' that. ;)
September 7, 200618 yr I agree Kelly Clarkson is overrated, especially to her fans, she's a brill singer, but her fans compare her to the likes of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey back when they were at their peak...
September 7, 200618 yr Scott could you please tone down your language a bit, it's always fukkin' this or fukkin' that. ;) In the past 6 posts on this thread, I've only used the 'F' word in two of them, and neither were actually directed at any individual board member. I dont view that as excessive....
September 7, 200618 yr Well yeah but you're smart enough without having to swear at all. :P It's only really to add emphasis. I'm not really being aggressive to anyone or owt.... ;)
