for the record, popchartfreak compiled his own "streaming" and UK sales chart for the first time in 1969. Granted, it was based on chart positions and I gave equal weight to both the Daily Mirror chart (Melody maker I think) and my own version ("streaming"). Tenuous of course, but the first unofficial combined chart must be this one, which has just has had it's 45th birthday. I like to think I thought of it first (adding non-sales listens to actual sales) and I would have added others if they'd sent them to me to compile them.....

Reason? I thought the charts should quite rightly reflect what I was preferring to listen to rather than just base it on actual records that other people bought. So, my 1969 notebook still exists as proof, I may do a link in my next 1969 charts to the original scribbled scripts. Me being flippant? Not really, that's exactly what streaming is (other people's listening choices) added to sales. I just gave streaming a bigger weighting (and that can only inevitably happen as the years go by till it's also 50/50) :P
