I always preferred the William Orbit version of 'Barbers Adgaio For Strings' to the Tiesto version as it reminds me of the millenium and the celebrations from that time. :D The Tiesto version is good too!

Glad Jubel made it so high, what a gorgeous song. I hope Changes doesn't drop out too soon.
Starlight & Barber's Adagio of Strings (also much prefer this version, never got Tiesto's at all) should be far higher, both real classics. Work Bitch is about 1000 paces too high, but I suppose that was to be expected for this year at least.

69 New Order 'Blue Monday' (67)

NEW ENTRY

tell me now how do i feel -> Chez Wombat (20)

From one of the most recent songs on the countdown to one of the oldest, Blue Monday actually charts this year. Despite its age it sounds very good and it's rightfully gone down as an 80s classic.

68 Oliver Heldens x Becky Hill 'Gecko (Overdrive)' (67)

NEW ENTRY

you got my heart on overdrive -> Thermo (17)

Unsurprisingly this is one of my favourite songs of the year. I've been championing this since December last year when it came out on Musical Freedom as an instrumental and now in its vocal form which was a notable UK #1 hit, mostly because it was the last #1 decided by sales alone but also because it was the first #1 hit achieved by a The Voice UK act. This song also helped to popularise what is known as 'future house', a sub-genre of deep house (yes, sub-genres of sub-genres do exist). The instrumental is just so fresh and original that it got me hooked from first listen, and Becky Hill is such a talented vocalist that it makes you wonder how she didn't even make the final four of The Voice UK. I also love the replay-ability factor of this song. With 125 plays (combining the original and vocal mixes here) it is one of the most played songs ever for me and I still play it a few times per week. Absolutely amazing.

67 Duke Dumont feat. A*M*E & MNEK 'Need U (100%)' (67)

UP 5 {72-67}

need you 100 percent -> Liam (18)

Another great song here and it was the one that introduced us to Duke Dumont, and what a breakthrough it was. Spending 2 weeks at #1 and stopping a political campaign song from topping the chart in the process, when will your faves? Anyway the climb proves that last year's position was not down to its being recent and that over time people still love it. It remains my favourite of his songs to date too, and that is probably down to the festival house vibes that come off this song and the powerful bassline which works better for me than the steel drum of I Got U and the piano of Won't Look Back (which are amazing too by the way)

66 Tomcraft 'Loneliness' (68)

DOWN 25 {41-66}

happiness seems to be loneliness -> Thermo (17)

Another great trance anthem, except this one incorporates the sounds of electro-house into it too rather than being a 'pure trance' track. Which is a good thing of course, we all love variety.

Great to see Gecko enter so high, hope ot makes the cut again next year too. Need U is also pretty good, I'm not sure which single I prefer of his, they're all even for me.

65 Alex Party 'Don't Give Me Your Life' (68)

NEW ENTRY

don't give me your life -> Jester (19)

And we get to another of those 'this is quite nice' songs. Good for what it is but it's not groundbreaking.

64 Ann Lee '2 Times' (69)

NEW ENTRY

2 times -> Doug (18)

I can't give an interesting commentary to this one either. One of the least interesting songs in the countdown.

Loneliness and 2 times. do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do 2 times.

Ebenezer Goode is the best song in here so far Thermo. :angry:

well, one of the best. yay Warrior's Dance and Sigma too. Still never got Gecko's popularity.

A song that's been out for five minutes ahead of one of the most timeless dance classics of all time?! You disappoint me Buzzjack :( (though at least it actually made it this year, what the...:o

63 Disclosure feat. Eliza Doolittle 'You & Me' (69)

UP 26 {89-63}

it's gonna be you, and me -> Harve (15)

Disclosure are brilliant at making house and garage, this one is more garage but it's still great. And Eliza Doolittle contributes to a good song for once too, yays all round.

62 Modjo 'Lady (Hear Me Tonight)' (69)

DOWN 31 {31-62}

lady, hear me tonight -> Jade (15)

And we reach another funky house song, this one is great and very Nile Rodgers inspired.

I like "Don't give me your life". It's a simple dance song but it always makes my mood.

Killer is one of my favourite tracks ever. I love George Michael's version too (Song and videoclip)

61 Sash! feat. Adrian Rodriguez 'Ecuador' (70)

NEW ENTRY

ecuador -> ketalina (20)

Another Sash! song appears. This is my personal favourite of theirs, I just love the enthusiasm in tha man's voice and the catchy piano riff.

60 Tori Amos 'Professional Widow (Armand van Helden Remix)' (69)

NEW ENTRY

it's gotta be big -> gavindeejay (19)

This is quite good too, out of Armand van Helden's big hits I much prefer 'U Don't Know Me' though as it has better vocals, added strings and is far less repetitive.

59 Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding 'I Need Your Love' (71)

UP 23 {82-59}

i need your love -> AaronTM (19)

This is a great Calvin Harris tune. Really well produced and Ellie delivers as usual.

58 Martin Solveig & Dragonette 'Hello' (71)

NEW ENTRY

i just came to say hello -> Ultraviolence, Riser (18)

Also great. I'm not a big Martin Solveig fan but this is a fun song that I can't deny is a tune. It gets you hooked from the start and whilst neither the production or lyrics are groundbreaking, they don't need to be for the song to work.

Nice to see Blue Monday charting even without my votes. I would have given it top marks.

57 Cascada 'Glorious' (71)

NON-MOVER {57-57}

tonight we can be glorious -> AdamAloud (19)

This is okay but I never really got into it. For a Eurovision song it was good (and I was rooting for it to do well) but compared to other dance songs it's generic and an example of chasing trends for cheap hits. But as this clearly caters more to pop fans than dance, it's no surprise that there's a lot in this countdown that I prefer to this.

56 Calvin Harris 'Feel So Cloise' (72)

NEW ENTRY

i feel so close to you right now -> Riser (20)

Another Calvin song drops out, with 1 more point than I Need Your Love. I like this but it's not as good as many of his other songs. It's something about his voice and the lyrics on this that isn't as good as his collaborators and that lets it down a bit, but the production doesn't quite match the quality of just about every other song on 18 Months either. I'm not dissing the song though, I think it's very good. Calvin can and has done better though.

55 FAUL & Wad Ad vs. Pnau 'Changes' (72)

NEW ENTRY

maybe it's just the way -> jsliv (17)

Almost at the final results stage and we have this lovely saxxy song. The children's gospel choir vocals are also great and overall it makes for a very classy song.

54 Katy B 'Katy On A Mission' (73)

UP 8 {62-54}

i feel the sub go booooom -> Ultraviolence (17)

The highest scoring song from semi 1 that didn't make the final drops out next. Anyway this was the debut single from Ms B and it really impressed, giving us something that was missing from most dubstep at the time, a great vocalist.
