Another house song from the same era as Haddaway, except this one is better imo, as the vocals are stunning. (I've credited Small as according to wiki the Holloway version was taken off sale shortly after it got popular) Love the piano in this too, it's just so uplifting.

This is undeniably a dance classic. It was the only song that Stardust did as a project but it was amazing as f*ck. Repetitive as it may be, it's a brilliant riff.

The great songs keep on coming, this one was a particularly big hit for the trance genre, going to #1 in the UK. Originally an instrumental but I find that it works much better with the vocal.

So Avicii doesn't make the top half of the final :( But #27 is an amazing finish nonetheless and I'm hopeful that it can improve over time. It's simply amazing and just works as an original dance-pop song (which of course sounds generic now thanks people copying it for cheap hits *coughDavidGuettacough*) Avicii's production in the song is first-class and I love how it changes from real instruments in the verses to synths in the drop. The lyrics are very well done too and credit has got to be given to Aloe for his impressive vocal. I was surprised at this change in direction on first listen but I grew to absolutely love it.

Is it too early to call this a dance classic? Either way it's certainly here to stay in Buzzjack's affections. I remember this being on the music video channels when it came out, and really loving it. While it pales in comparison to all the good good it's surrounded by in the countdown, it still remains a good listen, especially the instrumental breakdown.

Into the top 20 and we finally get our second casualty of last year's top ten (the first one was 'You Got the Love' by Source and Candi Staton, which fell from #10 to… no-one nominating it. How bizarre). Anyhow this is another nice house song although I do prefer Lola's Theme out of the songs in this section. Very nu-disco sounding which is nice to hear.

 

18 Rudimental feat. John Newman 'Feel The Love' (130)

We have a few recent hit singles in the top half proving that dance music is still going strong today, this was Rudimental's breakthrough single and what a song it is. Despite it's repetitiveness you can really feel the passion in Newman's vocals. Rudimental also prove that they know how to make good drum n' bass, and even throw a saxophone solo in there to make it even better.

 

 

17 Disclosure feat. Sam Smith 'Latch' (132)

Another recent song up next and this time it's Disclosure's breakthrough, and so far their biggest hit single, easily beating the sales of White Noise when you take its US success into account. For me it's their best and collectively you seem to agree, it's really original and the production is amazing.

 

'Feel The Love' and 'Latch' in one set is amazing!
