July 23, 201410 yr Author Chart Highlights:"Mandatory Fun" is Weird Al's first ever #1 album, despite a chart career lasting over 30 years. It is only his third top 10 album, following "Straight Outta Lynwood" (#10 in 2006) and "Alpocalypse" (#9 in 2011)."Mandatory Fun" is also comfortably Al's highest ever first week sale since the Soundscan era started in selling 104,000. His previous best had been 73,000 with "Straight Outta Lynwood". It is also the highest selling comedy album since 1994, when "The Beavis & Butt-Head Experience" sold 118,000 copies in a week.Weird Al is the #1 of a top 4 comprised entirely of débuts, with Jason Mraz, Rise Against and Kidz Bop Kids respectively taking the other slots. It's the first week with an all new top 4 since October 12th 2013 when Drake took #1 with "Nothing Was The Same".Both Jason Mraz and Rise Against notch up their 4th top 10 albums this week, with Mraz getting his second consecutive #2 (still waiting on a #1). "Yes!" fails to match the sales of 2012's "Love is a Four Letter Word" however, selling 81,000 compared to 102,000.Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending July 20) totaled 4.4 million units, up 7 percent compared with the sum lastweek (4.1 million) and down 8 percent compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (4.7 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 133.5 million, down 15 percent compared with the same total at this point last year (156.5 million).
July 24, 201410 yr I must admit Ed Sheeran is not hugely impressing me so far compared to Sam. I am sure his album will end up selling a great amount in the end as I can't see future singles not taking off but a 21 this is not.
July 25, 201410 yr I wouldn't go so far as to say it did nothing :o It definitely didn't do as well as I anticipated but twelve weeks top 20 is quite good for a single of his. 16-23-41-56 on the other hand, isn't.
July 25, 201410 yr "Weird Al" Yankovic at #1 :cheer: And with his last album too, good to see (thankfully I don't think he's quitting music) Why is Kidz Bop still a thing though? :drama: That's like a compilation of "fake" songs going to #1 in the UK except they're sang by children.

I was just thinking that when I was looking at the billboard article for the chart. They've relased an insane amount of compilations at this stage, and they're actually touring later this year. Just thank God they're not popular outside the US I suppose
July 25, 201410 yr I do feel sorry for kids in the USA who have to listen to these Kidz Bop things. I've listened to a couple of Kidz Bop versions of songs for the lolz and they are all just so pointless and awful (the comparison to fake versions is very apt). Still, at least they've never quite hit #1 on the Billboard 200 :P 5 #2s and 4 #3s though. Still a threat.
July 25, 201410 yr I think we can all agree that the group are evidence that America has terrible parents.
