I think i'm quite diverse now. My first year and a bit, i had a formula that i knew would work but i think on the whole i've had about the same amount of experimental months as i have playing it safe. After two months of VERY DIVERSE Punjabi hiipe, i am going back to safe D'yermak'er (/female pop) but it's VERY GOOD and perhaps the most BALLAD i have ever gone so still changing styles~

I should probably be less diverse next year and try and get a few more smashes because this year has been dry on them lol. (i won't)

I'd say I stick to pop most the time but it's generally got something more to it than 'basic pop bitch music'. I think the only entry this year that wasn't pop was Hendersin (and maybe Whilk & Misky?) but even then you could say it's very 'pop' for hip-hop. I don't go for tried and tested formulas, but I tend to lean to pop tracks as they are what appeals to me the most!

Continuing to fly the flag 4 diversity, I don't think any of my entries this year have sounded anything like each other (though of course others may beg to differ) ;o

'Hiding' = generic trap/dubstep

'Tide: The Paradox Effect' = alt. R&B

'The Lom' = electronica/Persian folk?

'Habib Galbi' = GOD KNOWS (Arabic folk/hip-hop/pop??) but certainly nothing like the others

'Burning' = future garage/2-step

'Dope A La Mode' = electro house

'Shakushain' = alt. hip-hop

'Ocean' = synthpop/dream pop

'Waves' = synthwave

My final entry of the year is not very similar to any of these either.

This isn't intended as shade, but while i agree your entries are quite ~diverse~ in terms of genre and whatever labels you add to them, they do tend to have very similar styles and i can instantly tell a song is yours from usually the first 30 seconds of it :heehee: I can probably do that for like 3 other countries :thinking: It is actually a big compliment for you though, because you're my most rewarded country so it's a style i LIKE clearly but yeah mostly all the same style while still being different in genre. :drake:

I don't really know how to describe it.. I guess it's those very Persephonian synths that seem ever present in most of the songs :music:

aaaaaahhaha I forgot I sent half of these esp jolene! how was that allowed 😂 ilia darlin how could I forget u xx

let's see how diverse I've been this year:

Sandy Rivera - deep house

Pep & Rash - future house

Mediate - house

Colleen D'Agostino - progressive house

Helena & Vassy - big room house

Oliver Nelson - nu disco

KSHMR - progressive house

Christina Novelli - progressive house

The Six - house

and my next entry will be another house entry, yay for lack of diversity :cheer:

I've mostly been pop this year as always but I don't like to box myself in because often I'll come across a song that isn't pure pop but still hits the spot (Niykee Heaton, Wolffe). As long as I love it enough for it to chart in my personal top 10, I don't care what genre I send (even if it does mostly end up being pop but as I said earlier in the thread, that's just my taste in general :heehee:)
I want to try and avoid which countries have sent which songs at the semis next contest cause I want to guess and see how many I can match up to see how predictable they are! I've heard no potentials either so far so I should be in good stead.

Oh yes I agree with that as well, I'm not claiming that I just pick songs completely at random or anything ~ I just think I've been fairly successful in maintaining a coherent 'Persephonia' sound while not sending songs that sound exactly like each other. There are definitely elements that attract me towards certain songs (synths being a big one :magic: and also a lot of my entries have a sort of spoopy edge to them ~ if not always as obvious as with 'Waves').

Plus as they're my own songs I'm obviously gonna be more familiar with the differences between them, as I said others may beg to differ and think all my sangs sound exactly the same of course ;o

I've had this year, in order:

Pop-Rock

Death Electro

Brony Mashup House

Pop-Punk/Rock

Rap

Finnish Pop

K-Pop

J-Rock

Electronicore/Rock

Basically none of my entries this year have sounded very much like each other and I'm managing to stick to my thing of 'not sending anything too similar two contests in a row'. My lineup for the last contest is looking like I'll continue that although I haven't chosen yet.

My rundown of genres:

Official:

"Catch A Star For You": dance-pop

"Push": future house

"West End Kids": alternative/punk rock

"Savages": synth-rock

"Rivers": tropical house

"Ghosts": pop ballad

Spin-Offs:

"Epic": pop (but with a boy band!!!)

"Spinning Around": French House

"Somnabulist (Simply Being Loved)": Breakbeat

"F*cking with my foolks": Hip-hop

"You'll Be Mine": indie alternative

"Carousel": dark pop/circus pop

All my potentials for next contest (bar one of them I think) are different from these. :D

Aside, I think Ultraviolenceland has been one of the first countries to successfully pull off country.

From this year:

Yeasayer "O.N.E." - psychedelic pop/balearic/idk

Moxiie "Jilted" - pop

Fred V & Grafix "Major Happy" - drum & bass

Daniel Ingram "Babs Seed" - pop

Django Django "First Light" - indie/psychedelic

Wet "Deadwater" - pop, kinda more dream pop leaning

Sicko Mobb "Kool-Aid" - hip hop with a sorta bubblegum dance element, apparently fits under a genre called "bop"

Kero Kero Bonito "Picture This" - pop of some kinda electronic/dance variety

San Fermin "Jackrabbit" - chamber pop

A bit more pop-leaning than the last two years, I do still like to offer a good deal of variety though~

Kryder 'Fiji' / progressive house

Dusky 'YooHoo' / deep house

Sidewalks & Skeletons 'EXHUME' / witch house

R O Z E S 'Everything' / alt-R&B??

Samantha Urbani '1 2 3 4' / indie-pop/R&B

Kove / Moko 'Hurts' / drum & bass

ponibbi 'HEARTSKIP' / pc nightcore (can this be a descriptor?)

R O Z E S 'R U Mine (Lost Kings) / future disco/house

Shaun Frank / KSHMR / Delaney Jane 'Heaven' / future house

oust every weekend in aeroche

Still sticking to Damce in general (unless something really stands out to me), but I think mixing it up for spinoffs is fun. Like I wouldn't want to send Dubstep in the main contest but I sent Knofe Party in the near misses.

I find it tough to answer this question as I find it hard to categorise my songs - particularly this year. I do definitely make it an ambition to be as diverse as possible and attract new voters, though of course there are people that vote for me more than others whom I can rely on points from more (I wonder who that is?), but I don't know if people think of me as diverse or not, though I like to think my entries don't blend into one another.

I think all my entries this year have fell into the experimental electronic sound verging the line between indie and dance with occasional forays outside that like dubstep (Crywolf), classical (Two Steps From Hell) and Bulgarian Futurepop (DIA). I think most of my entries also stick to that. I wouldn't know where to start doing a genre breakdown of my songs :thinking:
