Posted August 14, 201410 yr There 2 were records that were banned at the time by BBC in the Top 20 this week with these others just bubbling under the Top 50. 3 of them were reggae singles. Do you think records like these would still be banned 45 years on? You can check on the Top 50 HERE This was at #13 -- Max Romeo - Wet Dream vo3Mn4mDcLg This was at #18 - Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg - Je T'aime...Moi Non Plus ---- This peaked at #1 and became the biggest ever seller in the UK for a completely foreign record. GlpDf6XX_j0 Bubbling under was this -- Rita - Erotica 0RnuLLS0Rhw Also bubbling under was this double A sider Soul Sisters - Wreck A Buddy o06Sne9aME4 Versatiles - Push It In mBqYnz09tfw Seems like 1969 / 1970 were the years of the banned as there were many more then than there are these days. I presume you mean "completely foreign language" there, since Jane Birkin is of course British. Apparently Max Romeo claimed that the song 'Wet Dream' was about him renting a flat where the ceiling leaked above his bed. I don't think a lot of people believed him.

Yes that's what I mean - that record of best ever selling song by a completely foreign language single still stands today. In October there will be a unique chart prediction with this single which I will mention nearer the time. Also this week there is another completely foreign language single at #21 although by a British band and it is a foreign language cover of a Bob Dylan song that (in English) was a #2 hit for Manfred Mann 4 years earlier.
