#77: Hey Brother by Avicii

Year of release: 2013

Peak: #2

This missed number one due to Lily Allen's "Somewhere Only We Know", (and the fact it never got past Happy and Timber later on in January 2014).

#76: Can't Get Enough by Suede

Year of release: 1999

2013: #26

One of my favourite songs ever, sadly this didn't do very well in the charts.

#75: La La La by Naughty Boy featuring Sam Smith

Year of release: 2013

Peak: #1

2013: #5

After Wonder didn't do very well, I was fearing a bit for Naughty Boy. However, he then released this, and it soared to La La La, eventully selling a million copies. His next single, Lifted, peaked higher than Wonder but dropped out after only 5 weeks.

#73: No Angels by Bastille featuring Ella Eyre

Year of release: 2012

Peak: N/A

The first of two songs to use TLC's 1999 number 3 hit "No Scrubs" (being a mash-up cover of "No Scrubs" and "Angels" by The xx), this was originally a Live Lounge, then became a song on their mixtape Other People's Heartache.

Counting Stars :cheer:  one amazing song there :P

Hey Brother as you know is in my top 10 of 2014  and glad you like it too :cheer:

La La La is a great track, and my favourite Sam Smith track.

Looking forward to your m sellers ranking!

#72: Common People by Pulp

Another classic number 2, this was sadly held off by, Robson & Jerome "Unchained Melody". Now, the Robosn & Jerome song isn't actually bad, but this deserved to be number one instead hands down. But at least it wasn't the only song to be held off number one by Robson & Jerome.

  • Unchained Melody / (There'll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs Of Dover (20/05/1995 to 01/07/1995)
  • (Livin' Joy - "Dreamer" was knocked off number one by Unchained Melody)
  • Perez 'Prez' Prado and His Orchestra - Guaglione {1995} on week ending 27/05/1995
  • Pulp - "Common People" on week ending 03/06/1995 and 10/06/1995
  • U2 - "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" on week ending 17/06/1995 and 24/06/1995
  • (The Outhere Brothers "Boom Boom Boom" was number one on Unchained Melody's final week at number one, but knocked them off the following week)

I Believe / Up On The Roof (11/11/1995 to 02/12/1995)

  • Oasis - Wonderwall on week ending 11/11/1995
  • (On week ending 18/11/1995, 25/11/1995 and 02/12/1995, number two was Coolio vs. LV - Gangsta' s Paradise, which had already been number one

What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted / Saturday Night At The Movies / You'll Never Walk Alone (09/11/1996 and 16/11/1996)

  • On week ending 09/11/1996 (and 16/11/1996), number two was the previous week's number one, "Say You'll Be There" by Spice Girls

#69: Love Me Again by John Newman

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #1

John Newman's first single as a lead artist, after the terrific Feel The Love and Not Giving In by Rudimental, this was one of the biggest hits of 2013 and got nominated for British Single, but lost to Rudimental featuring Ella Eyre with Waiting All Night. However, his subsequent singles from Tribute didn't have much success, and he recently had a massive misfire (and that's putting it lightly) for which he is at least partly to blame for, which starts by the letter B. You can guess the rest.

Lovely jubbly to see A Sky Full Of Stars in your top 100 :cheer:

Love me Again is also a very good track :D

#67: I Loved You by Blonde featuring Melissa Steel

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #7

A song that looked like it would drop out quickly during its first few weeks, before soaring back into the top 20. Whcih is a very good thing, as it's a great song. Had the year ended later, this would definitely have been higher, and it's currently my favourite song for 2015 (so far).

#66: We Built This City by Starship

Year of release: 1985

Peak: #12

Like Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now, We Built This City re-entered after being used in a phone advert (the one with the little girl on a bicycle with a singing cat in the basket). This got to #25 and spent 2 weeks in the top 40 this year, beating Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now, which spent one week in the top 40 at #39, and it also beats Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now's #90 placing on my 2013 year-end chart. Meanwhile, the band is still active today, and released their most recent album, Loveless Fascination in 2013.

#65: Three Lions (Original Version) by Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds

Year of release: 1996

Peak: #1

One of the best-selling singles of all time (27th) and the fourth best-selling single in this countdown. This re-entered the top 40 in June following the start of the Football World Cup, along with two other football songs , the very good We Are One (Ole Ola) by Pitbull, and Noble England by Rik Mayall, the latter who entered the top 10 after the comedian's death at the age of 56.

#64: Control by Matrix & Futurebound featuring Max Marshall

Year of release: 2013

Matrix & Futurebound's third single, this became their biggest hit, reaching number seven and staying three weeks in the top 10. Unfortunately, it dropped quickly after, and Don't Look Back didn't do very well.

#63: Solo Dancing by Indiana

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #14

Another great song that didn't get the chart success it deserved (though it's been re-released and reduced to 59p on iTunes, and it re-entered last week, so at least it will get the chance to add a few weeks to its chart run). Also, I just listened to her album, No Romeo, and it's brilliant.
