#62: Shake It Off by Taylor Swift

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #2

My personal favourite Taylor Swift song, Shake It Off was surprise-released in August and hasn't left the top 40 since, despite being on streaming for only 6 weeks. Personally I don't think it's been in the chart too long.

#61: Relax by Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Peak: #1

One of only seven songs to have sold two million copies, the sixth biggest-selling single of all-time, and the biggest selling single in this rundown.

by the time you finish this, you might have to start on your YTD 2015 :heehee:

Control and Shake It Off are absolutely stunning :cheer:

And Control is #2 on my 2014 EOY :cheer: (#1 if you don't count non-charters)

Solo Dancing Is also pretty good :)

Considering I've done 70% of the rundown and we're around mid-February. I think I can expect to be done by mid-March, but I'm hoping to be done by the end of the month.

#60: Insomnia by Faithless

Year of release: 1995

Peak: #3

A dance classic, this was held off from number one by Spice Girls "Say You'll Be There" and Boyzone "Words". However, it is today considered one of the greatest dance record of all-time. Also, I remember that this appeared on the UK Chart Archive Wiki's Radio feature once. I put in the radio edit and the full 9 minute version.

#59: Burn by Ellie Goulding

Year of release: 2013

Peak: #1

2013: #6

Ellie's first number one, and until two days ago only number one, Burn was written by OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder (and there will be another song in this countdown co-written by him). This was nominated for British Single and British Video, but lost to Rudimental "Waiting All Night" and One Direction "Best Song Ever" respectively.

#58: Wires by Athlete

Year of release: 2005

Peak: #4

One of my favourites songs ever, this peaked at #4 about 10 years ago. It also re-entered in December 2012 after a performance on the X Factor.

Burn is a great track, sadly I wasn't too keen to see it fend off Wake Me Up from #1  on top of spending 3 weeks there which in my opinion rather overrates it

Also sad to see it lose to Best Song Ever :drama:

#57: Yours by Ella Henderson

Year of release: 2014

Ella Henderson's thirteenth appearance, this was her third single, and despite quite a lot of promotion it missed the top 15.

#56: Of The Night by Bastille

Year of release: 2013

Peak: #2

This almost earned Bastille their first number one (and it would really be a shame if their ended their carrer without one) but unfortunately Somewhere Only We Know beat them by 660 copies.

Wasn't this ahead at #1 by 12 copies if I remember? Great track btw :cheer:

#55: Nobody To Love by Sigma

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #1

Sigma's first top 40 hit, this was a remix of Kanye West "Bound 2" (which, to say the least, wasn't any good) and was one of the 20 biggest sellers of 2014. It was also one of the rare number ones to be disadvantaged by the inclusion of streaming in the chart (though this was only at certain occasions).

Very glad to see such an amazing dance track so high in your chart! :cheer:

And yes, Bound 2 was TERRIBLE :nono:

#54: Can't Rely On You by Paloma Faith

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #10

This made the top 10 but dropped out of the top 40 quickly, though it did later another 3 weeks. It's a little bit surprising that it didn't do so well, since pratically everything with Pharrell Williams involved has a lot of success these days.

#53: Dance With Me by Le Youth featuring Dominique Young Unique

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #11

Sampling TLC "No Scrubs", Dance With Me just missed out on becoming Le Youth's first top 10 hit. Unfortunately it dropped quickly out of the chart. Still, at least it did better than another top 15 on the same week, Proper Moist, whose run was 15-OUT.
