#23: All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #1

One of the biggest hits of 2014, All About That Bass was the first song ever to reach the top 40 on streaming alone. It also went Platinum in the UK.

#22: Changing by Sigma featuring Paloma Faith

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #1

After having the absolute worst number one of 2014 and a huge letdown from two great artists at the top spot, we finally got a good number one (this). Personally I prefer this to Nobody To Love (though I love that too). Not really feeling Higher right now though.

#21: I Won't Let You Go by Snow Patrol

Year of release: 2014

Peak: N/A

Just missing on the top 20 is a song from the soundtrack to Divergent, Snow Patrol's I Won't Let You Go. Unfortunately they didn't release it as a single. Instead Ellie Goulding's Beating Heart was released, and reached #9 before dropping fast. Thankfully Love Me Like You Do did much better. Meanwhile, Snow Patrol will release the follow-up to Fallen Empires this year, it being their seventh album.

Those Sats tracks are good, esp. Not Giving Up :D but haven't heard CTS yet.

These Days is really good :D and thank GOD it stopped Band Aid from getting #1 again :drama:

I still like Happy even though it's SOOO overrated :drama:

In fact I like all up to #22 (haven't heard #21 yet )

How did Hall Of Fame, from 2012, reach so high in your 2014 chart? The Script is great :D and I played a few of their tracks on plug.dj but they got mehd off :nocheer:

#20: Mirror Man by Ella Henderson

Soon to be released as a single, Mirror Man is the second best track on Chapter One, behind her first single. It is also Ella Henderson's fourteenth appearance in this countdown.

#19: Sing by Travis

Year of release: 2001

Peak: #3

Travis's highest peaking single, this is one of my favourite songs ever. Unfortunately another song of the same name vastly inferior to this one reached number one last year (though it is much better than the excruciating other number one of last year by the same artist).

Another number three single with Lawson's sixth single Juliet. Also, since this Lawson haven't released anything, it's starting to become a little concerning.

#17: Won't Look Back by Duke Dumont

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #2

Duke Dumont's third single, this was number one on the midweeks, but some garbage called Prayer In C (Robin Schulz Remix) which is basically the same line repeated 24 times overtook it by Sunday. Probably the biggest number two injustice of the year. Perhaps even more unfairly, this spent only 6 weeks in the top 100.

#16: Chandelier by Sia

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #6

After a song which dropped out of the top 40 four weeks after entering, a song which entered in July and hasn't left the top 40 once: Chandelier. The video is a bit strange (specifically the girl in the video) but the song is amazing and definitely deserves the success it has had.

#15: That Don't Impress Me Much (Dance Version) by Shania Twain

Year of release: 1997 (album release) 1999 (single release)

Peak: #3

The seventh best-selling single of 1999, it entered at #3 behind Byzone "You Needed Me" and Geri Halliwell "Look At Me". However, it sold 763,000 copies during 1999, whilst You Needed Me and Look At Me both sold less than 380,000, so in the end this outsold both combined. Twain had a second #3 hit in 1999, Man! I Feel Like A Woman, which didn't match That Don't Impress Me Much's success but ended at #47 on the year-end chart of 1999, whilst You Needed Me was at #49 and Look At Me wasn't in the top 50. In the end, That Don't Impress Me Much outsold 29 out of the 35 number-ones of 1999, and every number two. To date, it has sold 840,000 copies, according to this thread

#13: Superheroes by The Script

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #3

Another great song which on the chart update was doing battle for the top spot with Duke Dumont's "Won't Look Back" before the absolutely crap Prayer In C (Robin Schulz Remix) overtook them both. Still, while Won't Look Back dropped like a rock, this held up well, and ended up spending more weeks in the top 40 than Prayer In C (but that, alas, was before the latter spent another three weeks in the top 40. Another three weeks where I had to suffer that abomination.)

Just missing out on the top 10 is Paloma Faith with the amazing Only Love Can Hurt Like This. Despite it having quite a lot of success, I feel like it's underrated and I never have been bored of it. It's a classic.

#8: Stay With Me by Sam Smith

Year of release: 2014

Peak: #1

Funnily enough, this lands in this countdown exactly at the same position it landed on the year-end chart for 2014 (sales only). This has spent over 40 weeks in the top 40, and even on sales alone has only left the top 40 for 3 weeks, so it's clearly a song the UK isn't getting bored of.
