Double E here with Ella and Ed, who both just fall short of the top 10. Ella's sales are impressive in Bellamia, no need to worry Mirror Man, and she's had a fair amount of single success too, especially with the absolutely huge Ghost. Ella was my favourite on X Factor when she was on it so an album of hers was always gonna go own well for me. Ed's album pleasntly surprised me, I enjoyed + but x was even better, loads of fantastic tracks and actually a lot more diverse than +. The album has produced three top 10 hits to date, and I'm sure he'll end up with another if he rightfully picks Afire Love for single 4.

So many amazing albums

 

Chapter one is great and I am hopefully going to get it for Christmas. A Perfect Contradiction is my 3rd favourite album this year and is set to pass 3 Million sales for me this week. I also adore Britney Jean, My Everything, Kiss Me Once, Mariah + Shakira and X. Great 11-20 albums :wub:

Into the top 10 now with 5 Seconds of Summer's self-titled debut album. It's pretty great from start to finish and would probably have been top 5 last year but as I've said before, it's a ridiculously strong year for albums. 5SOS have had four top 10 singles out of four to date, with album track Long Way Home also making a small dent earlier in the year. The album had a bit of a battle getting to #1 at first, being held off by Lewis Watson (still to come) and Cody Simpson's 2013 album Surfers Paradise following his tour effect, but it got there in the end to give them their first #1 album.

You know how many of these albums I have heard so far? 0. :(

 

I don't know why I haven't heard X, it's been very elusive for me although I suspect it is good. Not sure you'd have expected me to have heard the others though. :kink:

:lol: Definitely give x a try at some point, it's a lot more diverse than + and I enjoyed it a lot more! You might like the 5SOS album too, you like the singles (Amnesia aside) if I remember correctly?

The long awaited (by me) sophomore album from Alyssa Reid "only" makes it to #9 here. Another fantastic album from her, following her debut album The Game from 2011, and although I'd probably rank that in the top 5 albums of 2011, I think I prefer Time Bomb. They both follow a pretty similar format, with an intro at the beginning, a few little interludes tacked onto some tracks, and a ballad section near the end. Oh, and her re-imagination of an older song - Alone turned into Alone Again on the debut, with Defying Gravity being sampled for Gravity on Time Bomb. It works a lot better this time, a more cohesive effort and it has more of a replay factor for me. Fun fact: I had to wait several MONTHS for my copy to arrive - it never got sent and when they finally replied to our enquiry, they sent us a signed copy to apologise for the delay *.*

what the FUCK are 5SOS doing so low?!

As I said, would be top 5 in many other years ~

ANNOYINGLY low is Lewis Watson's debut album, here at #8. I'd known about Lewis for around a year before this album came out although I wasn't totally taken by him - I liked his song Calling but never felt much of an urge to check out his other material. EP single Even If totally converted me before first official single Stay got released, an incredible track and only narrowly missed out on #1 in my chart. He's got a great voice and was a lovely guy, I went to meet him at Oxford Street HMV, he also played around a 35 minute set! Picture is available to see on my Facebook for anyone who has me ~

'My Everything' is very hit and miss for me. Obviously love 'Love Me Harder' ^_^ and a few of the other tracks are amazing but a lot of it i can't remember. Yay for 'Britney Jean' too.

Also annoyingly low is Iggy Azalea's much delayed debut album. Housing four #1 singles and two further top 3s (re-release included, although I hadn't heard that at the time of compiling this list so it's not taken into consideration for its placing here), The New Classic marks the first rap album I've actually loved. The majority of the tracks are fantastic, with Iggy being on top of her game throughout. Lady Patra is awful, however, and I like to forget it exists. The New Classic would without a doubt have been at least #3 last year so that furhter shows how strong this year has been for albums!

I don't know why but I can't fully get into Iggy. I love 'Black Widow' and have a soft spot for 'Fancy'. I suppose it's a bit like Nicki Minaj, I love the occasional single from her but can't invest in a full of album.

That's fair enough, normally a rap album doesn't appeal to me at all, and in all fairness, 3 out of 6 Iggy singles took several weeks to hit me (Work, Change Your Life and Fancy). It pleasantly surprised me anyway, it could've been hit and miss but it turned out mostly hit :D

Already at #6 is Taylor Swift's second best album to date (Speak Now is pretty much untouchable and am not expecting her to top it). Her first pure pop album didn't disappoint, it ended up as her most cohesive album to date and not at all how I expected. I thought there'd be more WANEGBT/22 style songs, but it's not a bad thing that there weren't any of them, what we got was pretty great. So glad that this is the album that's brought her proper worldwide success!

Well I won't comment on #6 because I don't want to spoil your countdown. x

'The New Classic' could have been amazing had it been an album full of 'Black Widow' and 'Fancy' replicas, but not anything else.

Yay at Taylor entering high, think it'll be high on mine too. I wasn't expecting it to be that great either, very synth-poppy and it really exceeded my expectations.

 

 

Iggy's album was nice but I never went back to it, I remember loving Lady Patra though. Black Widow is far and away her best single for me though.

I ADORE Fancy and Black Widow but an album full of replicas would probably get boring quickly - I'm already tiring of Beg For It :( I love how she's managed to make a commercial rap album without totally selling out and it's great imo!
