Lovers on the sun is quite good. Way worse than some of his stuff (eg when love takes over) but way better than some of his stuff (e.g. play hard)
Kinda like what I said about his latest era being a letdown compared to others based on singles. "Lovers" had a high burn rate as well, and I kinda got bored of it after it crashed and burned in the US. "Dangerous" is a lot better though.

Dishonorable Mention: Krishane f/Melissa Steel - "Drunk And Incapable"

Non-album single

UK Peak: #27

Don't skin me alive for this, but I thought it was... lacking a bit of a spark. To me, it just seemed like a Sean Kingston reject. Melissa sounds phenomenal, but the song overall just seemed to be missing something...

Drunk and incapable is terrible. Melissa's parts are ok but Krishane's parts are just horrible and disastrous. Coming to think of it with your comparison now, it does sound a lot like a bad Sean Kingston song :)
drunk and incapable hate??????? no. what a bop, unjust how it wasn't a top 10 hit. but yeah melissa >>> krishane

#45 WORST: Jake Miller - "First Flight Home"

Lead Single, First Flight Home/LionHeart EP

US Pop Peak: #30

Probably one of the most inconsistent artists when it comes to music. This just seemed like a step and a cliff dive from "Collide", and it wasn't too helped by it being his highest peaking song on radio. I'm perfectly okay with teeny-bopper music, but this seems a little too reductive.

Honorable Mention: 5 Seconds Of Summer - "Amnesia"

3rd single, 5 Seconds Of Summer

UK Peak: #7, US Peak: #16

"Sometimes I start to wonder was it just a lie? If what we had was real, how could you be fine?" Utterly beautiful song by a young band that had previously given us pop-rock Fall Out Boy-ish hybrid singles (one of which is in the top 50 [spoiler ALERT]), and this is the one that performed the best in the US. It sounds pretty organic compared to the rest of the album, and while many can brush this off as "Little Things" 2.0 (which this is far superior), I appreciate it as a mid-tempo ballad in itself. Wished this performed better in the UK though :(

Also, this is one of the most hated songs of the year by Buzzjack, which comes to show that our song tastes don't mix as much.

Nooo Slayberry not Amnesia :puke: ! Not a big fan of 5 Seconds of Summer as a whole tbh

Agreeing 100% with Drunk and Incapable, it sounds like a rejected demo

#44 WORST: Nickelback - "What Are You Waiting For?"

2nd single, No Fixed Address

US Peak: #102

It seems as though they've really wasted away since 2009... which is kinda sad since their earlier eras were absolute fire. This kinda sounds like something The Script would do, and even with that, it sounds like "Never Gonna Be Alone" meets "Superheroes". Not exactly the kind of conglomeration I was looking for from them.

I will give Chad and the boys this: "Edge Of A Revolution" was decent.

Interestingly, here's what was a good song of the same name:

Honorable Mention: The Saturdays - "What Are You Waiting For?"

Lead Single, Finest Selection: The Greatest Hits

UK Peak: #38

Not gonna lie: I was pretty gutted when this didn't even reach top 20 like I predicted it would. :( In hindsight, it was well-produced and it did sound like the summer scorcher I thought it would sound like. To this day, it's probably one of the best produced songs in their discography IMO, next to "All Fired Up" and "Not Giving Up".

Also, "I wanna lose control, let it go, lose control, let it go..."

Edited by Slayberry In C

I really liked it! Despite it being VERY repetitive it just gets in your brain and takes over :music: v~earworm

Yay, glad you approve of The Saturdays - What Are You Waiting For? - giving it a play now! :funky:

Trumpets is definitely one of Jason Derulo's worst - I liked it for a few days admittedly, but it got old very quickly.

#43 WORST: Jacob Latimore f/T-Pain - "Heartbreak Heard Around The World"

Non-album single

Highest Peak: #45 US Pop

I absolutely do NOT approve of this much cheesiness in one song. And it's pretty much a remake of "It Girl" so...

It's back!

The next two songs are both songs that I could never get into, no matter how hard I tried, mainly because they were so boring.

#42 WORST: Nico & Vinz - In Your Arms

2nd single, Black Star Elephant

US Peak: #72

Probably one of the highest burn rates I have ever had for a song in my life. Fine on first listen, decent on second, and after that it was just floppy on end. It pretty much flopped everywhere else, especially compared to "Am I Wrong" so I guess they've been demoted to "one-hit wonder" status.

#41 WORST: Eminem f/Sia - "Guts Over Fear"

Lead Single, Shady XV

US Peak: #22, UK Peak: #10

Eminem has really gone downhill since 2010 - the only gem he's had was "The Monster" and I'm getting tired of hearing it. This... not much of an improvement. Spoiler alert: one more Eminem song appears within this countdown, but I won't tell you where though.

Now starting the 50 best!

#50 BEST: Lady Gaga - "G.U.Y"

3rd single, ARTPOP

US Peak: #76, UK Peak: #115

I love Gaga. I also love Zedd. Put those two together and they will never disappoint. This was one of the standouts for me when I first got the album, and it still is (the way it leads into "Sexxx Dreams" is just flawless ). Couple that with a kick-ass video and surely it shouldn't disappoint, right. The peaks that you see? UTTER INJUSTICE.

Hiya Slayberry! Some rightfully awful stuff here like 'Trumpets' but made up for with 'G.U.Y.' and 'Amnesia'! Really liking this concept so far!

"Trumpets" is on my worst list, especially considering that the lyrics are laughable.

Speaking of catching up on this:

#49 BEST: Calvin Harris f/John Newman - "Blame"

3rd Single, Motion

U.S. Peak: #19, UK Peak: #1

While many described Calvin's latest efforts to be quite generic compared to his earlier work, I congratulate him for having solid and consistent material. And while this has probably one of the fastest burn rates for any EDM song in my lifetime, you gotta admit that the production (while simplistic) is genius. Also, it was great to see John Newman get another hit after he killed his momentum wth a few boring songs. I also understand that Buzzjack probably hates this due to the oversaturation (which was what kinda killed the song in the first place), but it's pretty catchy.

Calvin's got two more lead singles and another one he produced, so we won't be seeing an absence from him just yet.

#48 BEST: Disclosure f/Sam Smith - "Latch"

Lead Single, Settle

US Peak: #7, UK Peak: #11

I'm pretty sure Riser will be happy to see this on the best list! Now, I have seen this for a short while when I began tracking music as hardcore as I have now, and it wasn't until earlier in 2014 that it just finally clicked with me. This song is pretty much universally adored and it's pretty much the best thing Sam Smith has ever laid his voice to. The one thing that surprised me was the song's overall longevity! This song and "Classic" were pretty much on the US charts for half the year! WD indeed, Disclosure.
