Might even begin tonight :o

well maybe not lol. but here is the start of KLUM 14!

#200 - Until The Ribbon Breaks - Pressure

#199 - TALA - Serbia

#198 - G.R.L. - Vacation

#197 - Banks - Brain

#196 - Jamie xx - Girl/Sleep Sound

#195 - Magic! - Rude

#194 - Ryan Hemsworth - Ryan Must Be Destroyed (Wave Racer Remix)

#193 - Mausi - My Friend Has A Swimming Pool

#192 - Michael Woods - In Your Arms (feat. Lauren Dyson)

#191 - Bipolar Sunshine - Deckchairs on the Moon

Kicking off this section is a surprisingly large selection of songs which are the second offering from their artists, this includes Until The Ribbon Breaks, G.R.L, Ryan Hemsworth, Mausi, Michael Woods and Bipolar Sunshine! And all of which cementing them as 'good artists', I probably wouldn't have given 'Vacation' the light of day if it weren't for 'Ugly Heart' (coming up) but it is a fun pop song which I wouldn't normally admit to liking!

Elsewhere features TALA with 'Serbia' which is confusingly titled due to the lack of 'Serbia' in the lyrics but it slowly grew on me since the 4th BJSC of this year! I started off thinking it was incredibly overrated during the contest but I'll be happy to eat my words now! Banks released her umpteenth single from a number of EPs with 'Brain', perhaps not as memorable as some of her other releases but still a moving listen when I do return to it! Jamie xx's double A side release of Girl/Sleep Sound is something I never thought I'd even like a couple years ago let alone reaching the lofty heights of #196 on my EOY! But yay for exploring new music this year, nice and atmospheric and both are great after multiple listens! Finally we come across the first UK #1 of 19 (oops) to feature in this countdown. Terrible overhated (see what I did there) and a great summery reggae tune that deserves it's place as one of the biggest hits of the year. It's also managed to avoid overplay so is still nice and fresh in my mind.

#190-#181 coming up in a mo!

:hi:

#200 - Until The Ribbon Breaks - Pressure i have just revisited this because of your inclusion here and it's amazing. their EPs are very strong and the style is SO classy

#199 - TALA - Serbia

#198 - G.R.L. - Vacation

#197 - Banks - Brain love her and love this. you must check out the album if you haven't already! it's v good and she is a looker which goes a long way i find B-)

#193 - Mausi - My Friend Has A Swimming Pool YAYYY. never has a band produced such feel good anthems one after the other *.* i fear an album from them will make me implode with glee

#192 - Michael Woods - In Your Arms (feat. Lauren Dyson)

#191 - Bipolar Sunshine - Deckchairs on the Moon love him and though this isn't a fave of mine off him, it's still v groovy~

Please let this countdown actually be a thing and not flop ~ organisation is key x

I do thoroughly hope you don't forget about this as all those brilliant ones missing out suggests there'll be brilliant ones still to come! Nice to see someone else liking Rude B-)

Whole top 200 has been finalised so let's get on with the countdown!

#190 - Evian Christ - Salt Carousel

#189 - Herve & Zebra Katz - Tear This House Up

#188 - Pitbull feat. John Ryan - Fireball

#187 - Lana Del Rey - Brooklyn Baby

#186 - Bright Light Bright Light - I Believe

#185 - Dillon Francis - I Can't Take It

#184 - Tourist feat. Will Heard - I Can't Keep Up

#183 - Carl Espen - Silent Storm

#182 - Amanda Blush - Give It All

#181 - Foxes - Echo

Starting off this section with two consecutive N DNTN entries! (dw Chris there are more). Salt Carousel and Tear The House Up were both successful entries in N DNTN's most successful year so far! However both were fairly instant with me so have dropped quite a bit in my favour since their contests. I think I liked Salt Carousel because the title reminded me of salted caramel and the hard beats were funky B-), Tear The House Up was the most surprising winner since Ghost Loft with an entry that no one believed had a chance of winning (and some still think they shouldn't have had a chance..) but N DNTN had a win coming for a long time, just a shame it wasn't Sa Sa Samoa or Counting!

'Fireball' won't be an entry that many will be pleased to see but every now and then Pitbull does bring the tunes! Obviously I don't like Fireball for it's musical credibility but it's bloody good fun and catchy and Mexican, just like LexC. A song that nearly matches Fireball's trashiness is the sole Bellamia entry in this countdown. On paper I shouldn't really like 'Give It All', but it's just irresistibly sugary and has that killer chorus. Hoping Bellamia send some more tunes in 2015 but I won't get my hopes up.

Now comes a couple BJSC entries that took me a while to get into but are definitely worthy of a place in this countdown and still feel quite fresh. Syndare's I Believe feels like 'civilised pop' to me and despite not always being totally memorable, it's always a good listen. On the other hand Vulkyria's Tourist's I Can't Keep Up was entered in a contest I didn't vote in (oops) but I picked it up about halfway through the year, took me a while to get into but the crescendo in the last minute or so is fantastic. It probably could've made it higher in this countdown but I haven't listened to it enough to become a defining song of 2014.

Dilly Francis provides the beats again with his comeback single 'I Can't Take It', not quite as good as some of his other work but definitely a bop and something I recommend you listen to as it's probably the least Buzzjack song in this section! Lana Del Rey provides her first entry (out of four) with the lovely Brooklyn Baby, a mixture of Million Dollar Man and Diet Mtn Dew from Born To Die. Perhaps it drags on a bit much but it chugs and along and is nice to sway to.

Final two entries belong to the Norwegian Eurovision entrant Carl Espen and my gig-virginity-taker Foxes. Carl's entry was never a favourite of mine in the build up to Eurovision week but it made for a stellar performance on stage and rightfully finished in the top 10 (iirc?) in Copenhagen. Perhaps Echo should be higher as it's in my top 30 played songs of the year yet it's not a big favourite, very nice of course and a good mid-tempo song too. Despite completely ignoring it when Umi entered it to BJSC lol.

Charming!! I'll have you know that Kisses For Breakfast which just missed your top 200 was almost a Bellamian entry so we're not ALL bad x

(in all honesty I'd like to send these songs more but don't come across many good ones oops)

Joseph scalped B-)

I was v v happy for Chris winning and did like the song at the time, but it's nowhere near his best (and other near misses). Shouldn't have been his most successful year either :o where was the love in '13!? </3

Can't remember/don't know the other lot although i did listen to 'I Can't Take It' on your recommendation and... i did not like ^_^ x

#180 - Hercules & Love Affair (feat. John Grant) - I Try To Talk To You

#179 - Lana Del Rey - Cruel World

#178 - Drumagick - Ride (Dancefloor Gruv Mix)

#177 - Years & Years - Desire

#176 - Katy B - 5AM

=175 - Foxes - Holding Onto Heaven

#174 - Gazelle Twin - Belly of the Beast

#173 - Tokyo Police Club - Argentina (Parts I,II & III)

#172 - Catfish & The Bottlemen - Rango

#171 - Childish Gambino - Crawl

The first of two entries from John Grant (the BRIT nominee?!?!) thanks to two quality BJSC entries. First up is his feature on Fljotavik's entry in BJSC 65. His fairly sombre voice over a disco beat and piano keys is an interesting combo but it makes for a unique song that certainly stood out in it's contest. Another song which is just as different, perhaps even more so, is Drumagick's Ride (Dancefloor Gruv mix). Discovered in the background of FunForLouis' vlogs is a brilliant samba/drum'n'bass fusion that is bloody brilliant to run to. It did come out in 2010 but this is a 2014 discovery so here it is. Have a listen in the youtube video above because it's a fantastic instrumental that I probably should've listened more to this year.

Here comes the second entries of Lana Del Rey and Foxes, in the form of Cruel World and Holding Onto Heaven, and both still have a handful of entries to come. Cruel World makes a great album opener to Ultraviolence, second only to Born To Die. Atmospheric and brooding with typical LDR lyrics of 'you're young you're wild you're free you're f***ing crazy' what's not to like? I still find it odd that Holding Onto Heaven made it into the top 15 of the UK charts with this as it's not the most standout song, much better live when it's got some power behind it plus the dubstep-lite breakdown featuring drums and strings is such fun.

Sound of 2015 winners (as of today!) Years & Years featured for the first time with their first solo song to chart 'Desire'. Clever lyrics, catchy and great use of some different instruments and I am very excited for their 2015 now. Y&Y > James Bay. Also featuring in this section are two BJSC entries that I never would have guessed I'd be liking at the start of this year. A 9 minute trilogy of indie-rock and a dark electronic song featuring supermarket checkout sounds. Kylienips are not usually great at providing the point-worthy entries but this was an inspired choice by them and it kept growing and growing on me throughout it's contest. I'm used to Trifoski bringing something wacky to the table yet I wasn't prepared for this! Instantly addictive at the time but since I have tired of it :(

Wrapping up with the final three songs I can't link together in any shape or form are 5AM, Rango and Crawl. Nor can I say much about them. All lasting hits in the Kluminican Republic and you won't regret giving them a listen!

 my commentary is so rubbish! Might let it lay low until the top 100 when I've actually got something worth reading to say!

Keep the commentary D:

I didn't get as into Lana this past era. It all seemed quite jarring and not in a good way for me, but there were some lovely moments dotted around.

'5 AM' is a bit of a masterpiece still for me. Made even moreso by the fact that the video is Kubrick inspired <3

Didn't have you down as a Childish Gambino fan :o (unless it's just that one track!? Check out the parent album if that's the case~). He has such a cool, daring style in everything he does and 'Crawl' is definitely a BIG highlight and example of that

It'll be minimal rather than non-existant! There is another Gambino track on the horizon so stay tuned for that...

#170 - Oscar Key Sung - All I Could Do

#169 - Take That - These Days

#168 - Cheryl feat. Tinie Tempah - Crazy Stupid Love

#167 - Jake Bugg - Trouble Town

#166 - Kendrick Lamar - i

#165 - Hannah Diamond - Attachment

#164 - Bakermat - One Day (Vandaag)

#163 - Foster The People - Best Friend

#162 - Mapei - Don't Wait

#161 - Jake Bugg - Slumville Sunrise

This section features two Jake Buggs! The first Trouble Town was the theme to the brilliant but gritty BBC series Happy Valley, the second being Slumville Sunrise from his most recent album Shangri-La. Elsewhere the angels/devil spawn (delete as appropriate) Hannah Diamond and Cheryl make their first/only entries in the countdown. Foster The People, Kendrick Lamar and Bakermat bring the cool vibes to this section whilst Take That MOR it up with their *surprise* hit These Days. Final entry comes from Mapei who I have no other knowledge of bar this song! It's weird how most discovered this through BJSC but I found it months later and was surprised to see it miss the top 20 in BJSC! Palmyra surprise us every now and then :o
