Czech Republic
Marta Jandová & Václav Noid Bárta - Hope Never Dies

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/Hitcruiser/Third/SeparationLine.png

Ondřej Soukup was confirmed today by his country’s national broadcaster, CT, as the responsible of composing the song which will mark the return of the Czech Republic to the Eurovision Song Contest in May.

The recognised artist graduated from the Prague National Conservatory in 1975 and has played in many jazz and pop groups.

In addition to his local footprint, Soukup has worked as a composer internationally in TV projects (Germany, Austria, UK, Spain) and in the film industry, including writing the soundtrack for an Academy Award winning film, “Kolya”.

Soukup will compose three songs, which he is going to deliver to CT in two weeks. Two additional entries will be submitted by Soukup’s colleagues and then a CT special jury will select the best song as well as an artist to sing it in Vienna. The composer will have no influence in the selection of the artist, as confirmed by Radim Smetana of CT.

It looks like it'll be a complete internal selection in the end then? Out of their three participations so far, only Gipsy.cz were internally selected so that's not a promising internal selection history - but it does seem this time they are taking it much more seriously.

I can't really imagine what sort of entry they are going to give us, Slovakia were a bit of a mix of everything over the years as well. Definitely one the most intriguing selections this year which is probably to be expected!

Apparently the entry will be revealed on February 2nd if we are to believe this website. Rumours are that it is another duo, something that is become a regular theme considering we have San Marino and duets are among the favourites in Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia and Norway!

Confirmation of the artist and song title: Marta Jandová & Václav Noid Bárta singing 'Hope Never Dies'

The song is described by one of the people involved thusly:

It sports a peculiar and nice chorus, along with some nice and surprising modulation. And when I heard it, I figured that this song can really impress if done well

Sounds like it could have potential :o

I'm glad it's in English, it will help their qualification chances I should think as long as they don't have very strong accents!
Seriously, based on the description, I am really excited to hear this one. It sounds like it could be fantastic.
I've even read rumours on other boards that the song could be "very Nightwish", how will you cope!
Better watch out for me hyperventilating if it gets revealed anywhere near the time that their actual new single hits the internet then.

It's actually possible since Marta has collaborated with Apocalyptica ,

or
- brilliant songs <3. She's the lead singer of the German band Die Happy (
,
- Czech it out Iz :P)

Bárta was a lead singer of

, not sure what to expect here though.

I should get into more Apocalyptica and that sort of thing, I've only brushed with them and I haven't heard of those other bands before (why have I not? flop alt metal fan).

Die Happy sound like my sort of thing though, particularly 'I Am', this is looking very promising (thanks Luke). :D

I think it's great, the very ending with the 'Never let me go' is incredible! I was expecting a more rocky instrumental, but I'm glad it isn't as their voices are so obviously rock voices that it prevents it from becoming a run-of-the-mill rock song. So great job Czech Republic!

I'd like to say this will qualify but I'm not completely confident - however they are apparently fantastic live so a good stage show should put them in with a fighting chance!

Not my thing really, but I don't hate it. One of the better Czech entries (though that's not hard I grant you)
It's ok- it's more of a bad eurovision entry that pops up and I really don't like the tone of their voices. The sing gets better towards the end and they will struggle to make it through semi 2 but I hope they do for the sake of czechia's future participence!
