January 29, 201510 yr Liverpool were more of a cup team under Houiller. They did finish 2nd in 2002, but I don't think anybody thought they'd actually win the league (unlike 2014) and they slumped horrendously the next year. Leeds had their peak in 2001 getting to the semis of the Champions League. By 2003, they'd sold Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Keane, Jonathan Woodgate etc and barely avoided relegation. Newcastle were challengers but not quite the same league as Arsenal/United! I'd say Arsenal and Man United are the two constants of the Premier league era. Liverpool have remained competitive but challenged sporadically and Chelsea were finishing in similar posistions before 2003 anyway. No other teams have matched these 4s consistency.
January 29, 201510 yr So f***ing glad Arsenal got everything sorted with Paulista without cocking up. Getting Grosskreutz too would be lovely.
January 30, 201510 yr Chelsea in particular have started to build that global brand now, and City are slowly getting there. With FFP it's more difficult to imagine someone breaking into the really big time since you can't just splurge £200m at a time and, as we've seen with Southampton, if you threaten to get there then your best players will just get picked off. Spurs might be the exception if they have a couple of good transfer windows but they're still in danger of losing their best players abroad.
January 30, 201510 yr Jack Cork has joined Swansea from Southampton Scott Sinclair has joined Aston Villa on loan. Darren Fletcher is having a medical at West Ham.
January 30, 201510 yr Author Chelsea closing on a deal for Fiorentina's Juan Cuadrado for £23 million with Salah set to move there on loan.
January 31, 201510 yr Schurrle also away to join Wolfsburg. He's probably happy just at the prospect of getting to play a few matches for once...
January 31, 201510 yr He's probably happy just at the prospect of getting to play a few matches for once... Think Mourinho (stupidly) thinks he's too much of a liability.
February 2, 201510 yr Author Andre Schurrle has agreed personal terms with Wolfsberg which will probably mean that Juan Cuadrado will officially become a Chelsea player. Robert Huth looking set to move on loan to Leicester City until the end of the season.

No way they're getting these massive transfer fees for players they don't want. £24m is insane for a guy that's played about 12 times this year.
February 2, 201510 yr Derby have managed to get both Tom Ince and Jesse Lingard on loan this evening, both fabulous signings! Glad we've got great replacements for the recalled Ibe and the injured Russell.

His stock is (understandably) higher in Germany than it is here, and it's January. Mourinho just knows who he wants and who he can make some money off.

Not the first player, De Bryne and Luiz also susceptible to this. Not saying there is anything in it, but really fishing that Chelsea can get such high prices for players that they obviously don't want. Anyway for me they've made another mistake letting Schurrle go, not the better player right now, but certainly got the potential to be.

PSG paid ridiculously over the odds to get Luiz together with Thiago Silva, £18m isn't a lot for De Bruyne given his international record and how young he is.
