Of course, there are almost patterns to follow when releasing songs from an album, most acts don't release more than 4 songs off an album, some no more than 3. Some release a single, and then release the album with the second single - which of course is more advisable if you are a debut act.

But occassionally, this normal trend of releasing is not followed:

Case Study:

Two british acts, the Kooks and The Arctic Monkeys - both have very different ways of releasing.

The Arctic Monkeys - released two songs, then an LP (with the song being promoted from it, as new - not from the album) and then followed up by a single not on the album either...

Or the Kooks - who have released Eddie's Gun, You Don't Love Me, Naive, She Moves In Her Own Way, Sofa Song, with Ooh La yet to drop later this month/early october.

Which do you prefer as fans - which do you think sells more (if hypothetically the "hypes" were the same)
