I think it will be partly editing by The Sun, but I think a lot of what was said is Vanessa actually being rather negative. She's always kind of been the "least popular member" so I guess I can try to understand why she'd want to distance herself from the band (as she's probably got the smallest chance of making it big despite her vocals) but she needs to remember that 99% of her EP sales are from Saturdays fans and she shouldn't alienate them too much.

Joking aside, I don't think she comes across as that much negative. :unsure: If anything, it just seems like she's truly done with her old management. I think she ressents them for trying to 'mold' her, for not letting her be what she wanted to be as an artist. I think she's taking it on Peter and co, but it's unleashing indirectly on the group and the girls.

 

I'm not surprised she's the one to break the whole "We've haven't splitted, but I'm f***ing tired of saying we'll do something when I don't even know what that is and there's no plans anytime soon for us to talk about this kind of shit" type of talk. She was always the least media-trained of them all. :unsure:

I don't think Vanessa is cynical in the interview, it's just the way its written and the reporter putting their own spin on things to make it a more interesting read. Really though, it's absolutely no shock or surprise that Vanessa didn't really like the music that the sats were putting out, it was pretty clear at times. At least now she's getting to do more of what she wants to do. It really is becoming more and more obvious that they'll never be back though.

I'm not sure why anyone's surprised - most groups do just "fizzle out". They don't officially split, they just sort of end, and it's what happened here.

 

More often than not there's not a lot of money in officially splitting unless you hope you can flog tickets to people to go on your "farewell" tour and drive up sales for your compilation album. Even ABBA haven't to this day split up.
