September 16, 200618 yr Author I know he got a couple of goals recently but I don't think Defoe is an international standard player, he has been abysmal in recent months for us and I wouldn't be sorry to see Jol sell him, he is a one trick pony With regards Rooney and Crouch Peter Crouch is undroppable, his stats for England are nothing short of sensational but I am not convinced him and Rooney can play well together I still think Defoe should still start in the next qualifiers. Were becoming short of options in midfield, so I think it would be best if we played 3 in midfield, and then McLaren should take five strikers, as Rooney, Defoe, Johnson, Bent and Crouch are all on fine form. Thats the thing with Crouch and Rooney. As yoi say Croucj in undroppable at the moment, but the majoirty of England fans will want Rooney playing and I expect McLaren will think the same but your right about the two of them being unconvincing as a partnership, that why i'd like to see them play 4-3-3 with Defoe as the third striker. ^_^
September 16, 200618 yr I'm surprised on the reaction, before the World Cup the general view was he was $h!t, then because England were pretty c**p,tbh and Hargreaves ended up being one of the better players now he's the main man. Am I missing something?

Am I missing something? I've never though Hargreaves was propely $h!t. Sure i've critiscised his performances but this was largely down to the fact Sven used to play him out of position. When he got that holding role he really relished in that position and he is probably one of Englands best performers at the moment.
September 17, 200618 yr This is not good news at all, as I do not rate Michael Carrick to do the same role. If I was Steve Mclaren I would bring Jonathan Woodgate into the England Squad to play alongside John Terry & move Rio Ferdinand forward to the holding-midfield role. I wouldn't play Woodgate when there's a better and more experienced center-half playing his best football in a long, long while who's playing for the team lying at the top of the Premiership and haven't yet conceded a goal.
