Despite the beliefs of many, it is alleged that the series was not created because of the success of Jack Black's 'School of Rock' and it was a coincidence that the two shared the same premise. Indeed, this premise in series 1 of 'Rock School' was that KISS star Gene Simmons visited a boarding school that was home to many classically trained musicians where he would train a group to become a rock band, each with alter ego names. In fact, the keyboardist shared the same name of 'Mr. Cool' as the character in 'School of Rock'. Ultimately, they played in front of Motorhead fans at Hammersmith Apollo as well as travelling to LA. http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/625/media/images/81871000/jpg/_81871712_classroom-4.jpg Series 2 saw Gene now visit a comprehensive school (yes, this show is full of stereotyping!) where their task would be to open for a group of rock bands in California. Lil' Chris became the standout star of the show and indeed was the male frontman. His success on the show led to the release of two albums and four singles as well as numerous TV appearances elsewhere. What are your memories of the show?
