Even if Will had another Jealousy I doubt radio would play it. We have to accept where Will is at this stage in his career. It's nothing to do with his talent or the quality of his music. Many other established artists would kill for his level of success and sell out tours

What is sad is that it's almost as if Will only released 3 singles this campaign as there's been so little promo for the last two singles, not even 1 tv performance.

But you've answered your own point... his label obviously know he's not going to get another mega hit, so why book for performances ?

But neither is the likes of Brandon Flowers but tv will shift more copies of his album. 85% Proof would definitely have past Gold even if he'd had a few more daytime to performances. Most of his guest slot have been interviews and we all know his voice sells his music.

Here is a list of all Will's tv promo for the entire album.

About 5 singing slots the whole campaign. Many artists do more than that for one single. Couple that with his appalling AirPlay and it's a miracle he's sold almost 80k.

He's done a fair bit on the radio, no?

Mainly on BBC radio stations ie BBC Scotland , Wales radio 3 &4 etc. not renowned for shifting CDs. Again other artists have done far more.

Thanks TT, when you give the details it really shows the limited singing he's done on TV this time around. Id love to know what's been intentional and what's been out of his hands. I remember him saying in an interview as the album was released that he was concerned about raido AirPlay. Maybe that was when he realised Love Revolution hadn't been picked up. Radio AirPlay only got worse after that and has been diabolical, but then he is the first to say he's not made his music for AirPlay, more for live performances so a bit of a self fulfilling prophesy.
Thanks TT. It's not doing too badly, taking into account your comments above.
I can't believe the best two songs on his album aren't even being performed on tv. Brave man and WTWNNIL need performances.
#91 this week.

Thanks TT. His physical chart position is still pretty buoyant - #75 this week.

Yes that's nice to see. :) I wish Will had done an interview with Popjustice when the album came out. I remember them being photographed with Richard X when he collected the prize for Jealousy, and thought there would be an interview to follow but nothing materialised.

I would have loved that too. Previous ones have been hilarious. They seem to have the same off the wall sense of humour.

35. Will Young - 85% Proof

Will Young had the tough job of following his strongest release, 85% Proof manages it effortlessly.

85% Proof makes the top 100 albums of 2015 :cheer:

76 - 76 - 87,000 - 87,000 - Will Young - 85 Proof - 06/06/15 - 1

I know sales are way down on previous albums but I think given Will's lengthy break, poor AirPlay and limited tv promotion this is a huge achievement. He's an established artist who can now continue to make music and tour for as long as he wants alongside his other projects.

Thanks TT. I agree, it's great that all these years down the line he's still there and we get to see him! :cheer:
