April 6, 201510 yr I will never understand why everyone hates Gold. It's so breezy and feel good. Especially the AMAZING "fortune's running out of my veins" part. You all suck. The backing vocals are great. Really beautiful. The chorus is too chirrupy and up and down. Irritating.
April 6, 201510 yr I will never understand why everyone hates Gold. It's so breezy and feel good. Especially the AMAZING "fortune's running out of my veins" part. You all suck. EXACTLY! one of my favourite tracks on the record
April 6, 201510 yr Author First results coming at 7, I'm going to try and make sure it doesn't clash with the bjko too much.
April 6, 201510 yr I will hope that Savages does as well as possible. I may have gone on about it but it's by far the revelation of the album for me, one of Marina's absolute strongest.
April 6, 201510 yr Author 'Cause fortune's running out of my veins #12: Gold Average Score: 6.87 aAfZWY3T-YA Unfortunately, but not entirely surprisingly, finishing 12th and also last is 'Gold'. I can fully understand why 'Gold' wouldn't stick out as people's favourite track, as it's a far more simplistic, understated and subtle track. However, I do think that 'Gold' fully plays out its role on Froot as it slots in nicely with the themes and overall tone of the album. It wasn't a song that I immediately fell in love with but it's one which I find strangely entrancing. ‘Gold’ was sadly one only two tracks to receive 0 11s, but it did manage two 10s from Mackenzie and randomfurlong as well as a modest amount of 8 and 9s. Poor, brave 'Gold'. Living la dolce vita!: Nelly. S (9), MrBrightside (9), Conderella (9), Ultraviolence1989 (9), Mackenzie (10), randomfurlong (10) Bonquiqui (9) Wanna forgive and forget...: Mr Aly (5), Umi (5), HausofKendrick (5), ┌ ╫ ┘ (5), Cremey (5), Iz~ (4), Hurricane (-1) Edited April 6, 201510 yr by Joe.
April 6, 201510 yr Author I go home and I lock my door #11: Solitaire Average Score: 7.22 rDI44Xhq7Tk This one may come as more of a surprise, as Solitaire is not without its fans. In fact, when I calculated the scores at an earlier point, Solitaire was only very marginally outside the top 5. But due to a slew of underwhelming scores at the latter stages of the rate, 'Solitaire' fell hard. This is a song that has certainly grown on me over time, though I’ll admit that I’m generally more of an upbeat Marina fan. 'Solitaire' boasts some of the most superior production on the album, which is layered with haunting vocals for our favourite Grelsh songstress. Though placing at a disappointing #11 in this rate, enough people have recognised it as a good song, as it safely makes its way over a 7 average. 'Gold' could neva. Living la dolce vita!: Cremey (11), Heezus Froot ♡ (10), Mackenzie (10), jark (9), Nelly. S (9), Cody Slayberry (9), Kath ♡ (9), Iz~ (9) Wanna forgive and forget...: Parallel Reality (5), It's Lindsey (3), Bonquiqui (4), Sean. (2) Edited April 7, 201510 yr by Joe.
April 6, 201510 yr Not disappointed by either of those dropping out really! 'Gold' is my least favourite on the album.
April 6, 201510 yr Terrible finishes for two great songs, but the average scores are pretty good considering. Could just be a sign of bj's absolute loondom.
April 6, 201510 yr Author And when nothing feels enough at least you taught me how to love #10 Weeds Average Score: 7.31 ZlE2WQCGGZo I was very surprised this managed to get even as high as 10, it was looking very likely at coming in last at one point. ‘Weeds’, is Marina’s metaphor for the way relationships creep back on you, regardless to how unpleasant they may be. It’s a nice, inoffensive song, personally I feel like it’s overshadowed by some stronger and more innovative songs that surround it, but it’s beautifully sung and clearly has a friend in Nelly, who gives Weeds its only score as high as 10 (Of course that could be down to me being a scrooge with the 10s) Living la dolce vita!: Nelly. S (10), jark (9), Dandystar (9), Kath ♡ (9), Iz~ (9), It's Lindsey (9), Cremey (9), Ultraviolence1989 (9), Noahspike (9), Bonquiqui (9) Wanna forgive and forget...: mr_aly (5), Davidson (5), Mackenzie (5), ┌ ╫ ┘(5), Umi (2)
April 6, 201510 yr Author Quick interval now, while bjno is on, will continue with the next 3 in about 40 minutes.
April 6, 201510 yr Why is weeds so low  Better than that and the one starting with cant out soon please
April 6, 201510 yr Gold isn't my favourite from the album but I don't think it deserved to come last, I'd say around the middle of the table, not too bothered about where Solitaire placed but Weeds?! It's a lovely song, should have definitely came in the top 5 imo  Forget, Blue and Savages for top 3 please :cheer: Edited April 6, 201510 yr by It's Lindsey
April 6, 201510 yr I wouldn't say Gold was understated. The chorus is distinctive. Aside - I'm listening to Gold right now. Except it's James Vincent McMorrow's Gold and not Marina's :(
April 6, 201510 yr Author Do you really want me to write a feminist anthem? I'm happy cooking dinner in the kit*hen for my husband #9 Can't Pin Me Down Average Score: 7.43 N80eix30Evk Marina plays with gender roles in ‘Can’t Pin Me Down’, tackling the ideas of how one defines women, what it is to be a woman and that there is more than one way to be a feminist. It’s an interesting, yet playful song and even though I wouldn’t say it was “instant”, I do think it’s quite the jam. The vocal layering on this is quite divine, and this is one that I’m quite looking forward to seeing live, if ever Marina announces a UK Froot tour, (which she needs to do ASAP). Big love for this track from Kath and Cremey. Living la dolce vita!: Kath ♡ (11), Cremey (11), Conderella (10), Umi (10), Nelly. S (9), JVSH (9), Doug (9), Mackenzie (9), randomfurlong (9), Bonquiqui (9) Wanna forgive and forget...: MrBrightside (5), Hurricane (4), ┌ ╫ ┘ (4) Edited April 6, 201510 yr by Joe.
