The 8 piece boyband from X Factor have just put their debut single up for preorder. They started pretty lacklustre but as the weeks went by I really warmed to them and they started to show their POtentinal.

 

Excited for this and intrigued on what sound they decide to follow for their first single!

Listened to the live version and it was horrible.

Already Top 30 on iTunes pre-orders - Added to the fact I'm sure there will be multi physical formats and HMV signings so looking like being a hit.

Another front-loaded boyband. 3 of them are quite fit at least.

 

Enjoying this a lot more than I expected actually! Nothing new or unexpected in terms of sound but it's pretty good and I could see it being a hit beyond the initial fanbase too.

It is a bit bland and I find that the chorus sounds a bit clunky when coming in after the verses :lol:

 

On the plus side, thank god that horrible troll baby, Jake or whatever his name is, never got a solo :rofl:

Not heard this yet, not in a rush to either but hey.

It made me think of Westlife? It's not bad, not great either though. I agree that it's a little clunky in places!

The song is kinda boring IMO. Also this may sounds old but I still find 8 guys too much for a boyband.

Not much going on there for me :( Doesn't seem to have a particularly distinguishable chorus and the verses are quite forgettable to. I might give it a few more listens and see if it grows but i'm a bit eh that they've gone for such a standard boyband ballad as opposed to something more daring, given there is EIGHT of them.

Yeah I'm not feeling this. It's very safe and forgettable. I feel it's a lot harder to make a ballad stand out in the charts, so I don't think this was a wise choice for a first single. It'll go top 5/10 on fanbase alone before falling 45+ places the next week is my prediction.

I can't believe people still go for this, when we have One Direction.

 

It's like asking out of choice whether you would shop at Poundland or Harrods.

I think there's always room for more... if only any of these boy bands could manage to release something that was really worth while! "Ok" just doesn't cut it.

This sounds like they've picked something at random from the rejects The Wanted left behind just to see if it works.

I could see this doing well if radio back it, it's perfectly accessible, but whether radio WILL back it or not is another matter.

 

And yeah, it's not enough to set them up long term really. A lot of boybands have had their highest selling track released first (in fact, all of 1D, 5SOS, The Vamps and Union J have their first single as their highest seller!), and I just don't think this is distinctive enough. Union J's problem was that they couldn't stand out in a saturated market, and I think Stereo Kicks will fall into the same bracket (sadly).

I agree that a ballad as the first single probably isn't a wise move.

 

Given how I wasn't a fan of them on the show I think my thoughts towards this could be a lot worse. It's not bad, I rather like the section where the music has cut out, it's just not very exciting so I don't see it doing much for them.
