Posted September 17, 200618 yr rs. Whibley (who turns 22 later this month) was in town for Fashion Week, and MTV News caught up with her at the Diesel show on Wednesday night, where she gushed about "I haven't worn a necktie in a very long time. It's all everyone's talking about these days — how I've gone all glam." — Avril Lavigne Photos from this story Paris Hilton, Avril Lavigne, Kate Bosworth, 50 Cent And More At Fashion Week married life, her burgeoning modeling career, getting bitten by the acting bug and the upbeat album she's got in the works. One thing is very clear: The necktie-wearing pop-punk princess of the past is gone, traded in for a more high-couture look. The singer, flashing a monstrous wedding ring and rocking notably blonder locks, was soaking in the bright lights of her second-ever fashion show (the first was a Chanel show in Paris). "It's so fun and cool to watch," she said. "The girls are so skinny. It makes me want to lose 10 pounds — I'm just kidding! But I'm like, 'Look at those legs!' " A key fashion element of the Diesel show was a new take on denim shorts for the spring season, where the waist is high — like, just-below-the-chest high — and maybe a little silly, but Lavigne loved it. "They're my favorite thing," she said. "I want to see that back in style where everyone is wearing them — I want to see that back so bad. It's a really slimming, cool look, and it always makes your butt look good. And I love the ankle boots — I'm wearing a pair." The singer was also wearing Diesel jeans, a T-shirt and a white cuff with studs on it. Lavigne recently signed with Ford Models and has been wearing more couture fashion than ever before. She wore a Vera Wang wedding gown when she married fellow Canadian/ Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley two months back (see "Avril Lavigne Marries Sum 41's Deryck Whibley"), and she recently lit up the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, wearing a strapless, striped Giorgio Armani dress. "I haven't worn a necktie in a very long time," she said. "My skate clothes and really baggy pants ... I still have them all in my closet, but now I wear cute clothes, tighter pants and lower shirts. I mean, that's just because I'm older. I didn't care about that before, and obviously styles change, and we change. It's all everyone's talking about these days — how I've gone all glam." All this probably has more than a little to do with being married. "Married life f---in' rocks!" she said. "If you're with the right person, it's amazing." It also explains why her upcoming LP will have less angst, more fun and more love songs. Lavigne said she's almost finished working on the album, for which she's written 15 songs — collaborating with Deryck on the more rock-leaning material. "I've got to say, this record is going to be so much fun. It's really upbeat. I have a few love songs — it's so funny," she said, giggling. "Of course, I still have my boy-bashing songs, but they're very playful. So the record is really fun and cool and different, and honestly I think it's my best record yet. I can say that with confidence." Aside from Whibley, collaborators on the album include Rob Cavallo (Green Day), Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson) and a return engagement with Butch Walker (see "Butch Walker Works With Avril, Hot Hot Heat, Says Solo LP Won't Be 'Emo-Tastic' "). "I'm doing my ballads with Rob Cavallo, I give my pop-rock songs to Butch, I give my rock songs to Deryck, and Luke has been experimenting with different sounds and stuff," she said. Lavigne's acting career is also on the rise. She did voice work in the recent animated movie "Over the Hedge" with Steve Carell, Bruce Willis and William Shatner, and she has her big-screen debut in "Fast Food Nation," due in November, in which she plays a college girl trying to expose the political nature of fast food. "It's really cool and exciting," she said. "It was really an awesome project to be involved with because of what goes on in the fast food industry — behind-the-scenes things we never hear about, so I think it's important." The movie also stars Greg Kinnear, Ethan Hawke and Wilmer Valderrama. Avril recently completed work on her second feature, "The Flock" (see "Avril Gets Acting Tips From Richard Gere, Remains Mum On LP"), which is due next year. — Farrah Weinstein
September 17, 200618 yr As I said I'm very pleased she's finally coming back but I am not liking this whole 'fun upbeat new style' thing she's got going - yeh you have to evolve and change yourself to suit you but I need old Avril full of grit and slagging down men not singing about how loved up she is. I will await with relish though as she never disappoints
September 17, 200618 yr I thought My World on Let Go was very poppy, my friends didn't even believe it was Avril. I loved the song though, hopefully a happy medium between poppy and bits and pieces or rock. ^_^
September 17, 200618 yr I was hoping she would develop and grow from the sound of her 2nd album personally - this looks like she's going right back to the start unfortunately but as I've been whinging about her not coming back all year I'll hush and starta countdown
September 17, 200618 yr I'll look forward to seeing what's in store. I was under the impression she was on an "extended break" though?
September 17, 200618 yr Author She never said this Aly, just media tittle-tattle, this article should squash that surely with the 3rd LP done
September 17, 200618 yr She was due with this in April 2006 bless her :kink: Well with L'Ev back I can't take too many huge comebacks or I'll blow up
September 18, 200618 yr It will be really interesting to see how this comeback happens. If people will except her girly change and her more positive songs. Which I am pleased about. I got sick of the "nobody understands, I am so alone!" teen angst steriotypical rubbish. I liked her second album, but it was really just a complaint record overall with nothing much to back it up with. Still I like it best, its a bit darker and a natural progression from her first album Edited September 18, 200618 yr by Ozmead
September 18, 200618 yr finally a comeback from avril - even though she cant get away with that whole teen angst thing no more
September 19, 200618 yr Sounds like maybe she will go a bit like Kelly Clarkson - Since you been gone kinda feel. That would be cool, I want some more songs like Nobodys home though!
September 19, 200618 yr Avril is good, both of her albums are really listenable. I'm quite intrigued as to what this experimental sounds will be mind, so we can expect some rock/pop stuff with Dr. Luke on board.

I'm quite intrigued as to what this experimental sounds will be mind, so we can expect some rock/pop stuff with Dr. Luke on board. I don't think this is a good thing. She is now following a trend. A one that she introduced back into the mainstreme. These "brat rock queens" followed Avril. Edited September 19, 200618 yr by Ozmead
September 19, 200618 yr Wonder what her *new sound* will be like.. She was always one of a kind, but now..
September 19, 200618 yr I hope that she doesn't come back with a bubblegum pop sound or even pop/rnb, IMO Avril should be going more alternative if anything!
