Posted April 29, 201510 yr http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh602/Johnkm90/cinema%202001_zpscewudixw.jpg The basic idea behind this is that each week you will be given the chance to vote on a series of between 10 and 15 movies from each year of the millennium so far, that's 16 years in total. The reason for no set number of films is because of the way the list is compiled: 1) The top 10 grossing movies of the year, worldwide 2) The winners of Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress at that years Oscar ceremony. It doesn't always happen, but that means we could have 15 films, but obviously the winners might already be in the top 10, or have won multiple (or all) of the above, so the list will be smaller. For example in 2000, Gladiator was second highest grossing, but also won Best Picture and Actor. Anyway, onto the important stuff. You will vote using the traditional Buzzfestivalen/Melodisfestivalen system, which is as follows: 12 - your favourite movie 10 - your second favourite, and so on 08 06 04 02 The films in contention this week are as follows: Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring Monsters, Inc. Shrek Ocean's Eleven Pearl Harbour The Mummy Returns Jurassic Park III Planet Of The Apes Hannibal A Beautiful Mind Training Day Monster's Ball Iris You have until MAY 6TH, 2015 AT 23:59PM to cast your votes via PM TO ME, JOHNKM. Please feel free to discuss the films in this thread, and if you haven't seen any now might be a good time to fill in the gaps in your film knowledge.
April 29, 201510 yr Really loving this idea actually. Have to admit I haven't seen a good few on that list though.
April 29, 201510 yr 12 Ocean's Eleven 10 Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone 08 The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring 06 Shrek 04 Monsters, Inc. 02 The Mummy Returns
April 29, 201510 yr OK, I've actually seen multiple films on the list this week. So I can submit votes very shortly. :D And UV wut? It would be hard to rank but I don't think any of the Harry Potter movies are worse than 8/10.
April 29, 201510 yr Hate the 1st Harry potter so hope that doesn't get through :puke2: Utter blasphemy. Please tell me things got better for you as the series went along...
April 29, 201510 yr 12. Harry Potter 10. Lord Of The Rings : The Fellowship Of The Ring 08. Monsters Ball 06. Shrek 04. Monsters Inc 02. Hannibal
April 30, 201510 yr 12 Planet Of The Apes 10 The Mummy Returns 08 Hannibal 06 The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring 04 A Beautiful Mind 02 Jurassic Park III Quite a mediocre bunch of movies representing 2001 thou that wasn't a very strong year with blockbusters anyways. The Others narrowly missed $100m in the US but was better than any of the $100+m movies.
April 30, 201510 yr 12 Pts: Monsters, Inc. 10 Pts: Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone 08 Pts: Hannibal 06 Pts: Shrek 04 Pts: The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring 02 Pts: Pearl Harbour I don't get the hate for the first couple HP films! Yeah, they get a hell of a lot better/more darker as the franchise goes on ('Prisoner of Azkaban' is my personal fave though <3), but they're still brilliant fun!
April 30, 201510 yr Oh you really should change that. Heist movie mixed with smart comedy. All-Star cast like none other (George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, etc.) Oh and there are three of them so three times the fun.
April 30, 201510 yr Yay, I've been wanting to join this one (and help Gladiator in the last round) but I hadn't seen enough films on that list and I HAVE on here. Will be very much supporting Lord Of The Rings though, naturally.
April 30, 201510 yr 12 Harry Potter 10 Lord Of The Rings 08 Shrek 06 Jurassic Park III 04 Monsters Inc 02 The Mummy Returns
May 2, 201510 yr 12 A Beautiful Mind 10 Hannibal 08 Iris 06 LOTR 04 Harry Potter 02 Ocean's 11 Haven't seen most of them oops.
May 4, 201510 yr Please tell me things got better for you as the series went along... I've only seen 4 of them but it is such a weird franchise for me as I have so many different opinions Chamber of secrets is amazing, goblet of fire is quite good, prisoner of azkaban is awful and the 1st one I find so boring and terrible
May 4, 201510 yr I've only seen 4 of them but it is such a weird franchise for me as I have so many different opinions Chamber of secrets is amazing, goblet of fire is quite good, prisoner of azkaban is awful and the 1st one I find so boring and terrible The funny thing is my Mom is the biggest fan of the movies you will ever see. Literally, if it ever comes on TV she stops everything she does to watch it. After years and years of twisting my arm I finally watched all of them on DVD less than a year ago and I was blown away.
May 20, 201510 yr Author http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh602/Johnkm90/2001%20votes_zpsun2mfi1j.jpg So it was a bit of a whitewash this time for the top 4, but between those it was pretty close with the winner changing several times. For the first half of voting Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings were sailing through, but the second half brought a raft of 12/10 pairing for Shrek and Monster's Inc. which sees them both comfortably make the final in the end. They had a combined 244 points in the end. Coming in a respectable 5th, albeit miles away from the points we have Hannibal, the sequel to the much loved The Silence Of The Lambs, which couldn't quite match the cultural or awards draw of the original. The rest you can see for yourself, poor Leonardo the only fan of Training Day being the most interesting thing about the rest of the results.
