I felt like her amber highlights really elevated them too, but I don't really think she knew how to work with them. I will admit that it was better than Dominique's mess.

 

Though the latter made it to All Stars and killed it so...

#146: Liz Williams

Cycle 15, 6th place

 

 

So... really not the first time someone has gone overseas without that strong of a portfolio (I'm looking at you, Jaeda), but someone who was extremely annoying for all the complaints and stuff plus an inconsistent portfolio (despite one or two average photos here and there) really deserves to be this low.

 

Her personality: So we all know the whole poor girl's anthem thing - "I'm on welfare, I'm on food stamps, I've been through hell and back" etcetera etcetera etcetera, but it kinda gets old after a while, and when you start complaining about certain stuff in the shoot repeatedly, you know that this girl was gonna be a pain. Even Mr. Jay didn't like her. Yet she still made it overseas... hmmmmm...

 

Her modeling skills: I guess I got too caught up with Liz citing excuse after excuse and her "swagger" that I never really got the chance to critique her portfolio as a whole. Looking at it again, I realized that I didn't really miss much. I feel like sometimes she's on point and other times she can be kinda eh. Overall her pictures were pretty subpar save for the Rodeo Drive picture and her John Galliano picture, none of them really did her unique face justice. It just seemed like she was just being kept around for the drama. Plus, Rhianna shouldn't have been eliminated for the underwater shoot.

#145: Ann Markley

Cycle 3, 4th place

 

 

I am baffled that she even made it so far in the competition. She was a complete bitch the entire way, threatened to knock someone out, made a friendship and destroyed it in a matter of weeks, and survived a hella bunch of bottom two appearances to get here, which kinda proves that there are a lot of other girls who deserved to go overseas *cough cough Toccara*. Though to tell you the truth, the girls were a lot weaker than previous cycles and I think I'd be more appalled if someone like Kelle made it overseas, but I still can't at Ann making it farther than a bunch of girls who had better portfolios.

 

Her personality: Ann noted that before the competition she was a water polo player. That explains her cut-throat and salty personality. I guess that really helped her in the runway, but it made her seem so controlling and stuff. She was given the villain edit in my opinion, while some people say it was probably Eva, though I think there were a lot of bitches that cycle (kinda like All-Stars but it was kinda predicting that). She made this blooming friendship with Eva then it really just crumbled once they went overseas because Eva was by far the better model. (spoiler: I really like Eva.) Also there was the incident with Amanda's crystals where Jennipher bumped into her and all hell broke loose, but to be fair that was Amanda starting sh*t more than Ann. And I guess what she's most infamous for: carving "Clean Your Shit" in Cassie's brownies. Like, seriously.

 

Her modeling skills: Her walk was good, but her portfolio STANK. I felt like she didn't take an amazing photo in her entire stint of the competition. She has an interesting face and eye intensity but it never really translated into the photos, which is although common, pretty bad for someone who went overseas. She survived bottom 2 like four times to get there so you would think that the judges would have tried to send her home before the top 6? Well, Tyra did, and it was one of the best decisions she ever thought of.

Ann was so up and down but she did get some good photos, she was top 2 like 4 times. I loved her as a character more than anything. I'm loving this Cody!

Cycle 14, 8th place

 

 

When doing this countdown, I never really factored in whether or not I hated the contestant, just how relevant they are. This next contestant was pretty relevant, being one of the many bitches that cycle (one of the bitchiest since cycle 3), and for having a slightly interesting makeover that she whines about for AGES.

 

Her personality: So this was the cycle that was full of young moms (and Tyra saying "sex?" a lot of the time during auditions), and Brenda was one of them. Not only that but apparently her husband likes gorgeous long hair. HA. This is America's Next Top Model, and in the ANTM world, you rarely get what you want. So they give her this awkward faux hawk that although elevated her look a bit, with the makeup they used for the shoot it made her look like a 40-year-old. And Brenda was not feeling it. She moaned about that, then they gave her a second makeover with shorter hair and she moaned about that. Honey, to quote Fat Amy, "it's just God punishing you for being a ginger."

 

Oh and all that random stuff with Angelea? Yeah, NEVER mess with Angelea. She was in the top 150 schools in the country. You were even lucky to make the top 150 of this countdown.

 

Her modeling skills: SHE PHOTOGRAPHS OLD AS F*CK. Though it's a lot less apparent than Luke Wilson doppelgänger Mike *cue Natalia Kills gifs*, but it's there. Her portfolio overall... I kinda say that she improved gradually throughout her stint on ANTM, so much that her elimination photo was... quite good. Let's not talk about that perfume ad because it makes her look like Suzanne Sommers with red hair. I really think she could have gone home with that picture instead of Naduah (who was criticized for producing an ad-type photo for a perfume ad). I just don't get the judges sometimes.

My god, this cycle was a mess. It started with the overdone panel in the first episode of judging and ended with Lisa of all people winning. Like HUH? I felt like I was watching a full season of Punk'd. The eliminations were a bit of a mess as well. Like I felt like Angelea became the new Ann Markley or something because this girl ended up in the bottom 2 a bunch of times (doing it FLAWLESSLY yes, but a bunch of times). Poor Allison got robbed twice in this cycle. It's like the producers don't want her to win. Well she's won in the public's eyes.

 

The photoshoots were (going Liam on this one)

Normally I wouldn't condone shots in the backyard because they seem a little too "high school reunion" type, but with this it kinda worked, but I wasn't too keen on most of them. Especially the salad one.

#143: Denzel Wells

Cycle 21, 9th place

 

 

So I was gonna put a certain someone who really pissed me off (but I digress), but thanks to Heezus and watching this cycle again (because apparently every episode of Cycle 21 is on YouTube), I was reminded at how annoying Denzel was. Like everything about his stint was just WTF?

 

His personality: Cycle 21 was a bit of a mess in general but that's mainly because of Adam (who I adore - a bit of a spoiler), Keith (though not so much as the other two) and Denzel. Just what the next Boys vs. Girls cycle needs - more self-proclaimed alpha males. What I didn't like was his homophobic stance and his indirect attacks on Will. "I wasn't directing it at you"- MY ASS. Even more hilarious was the fact that he and Mirjana hooked up and it just seemed a bit one-sided and made Mirjana look like a whore. Like just... NO. Tyra ended up reading him for filth, which was one of the most memorable panels in the entire series, but it's entirely because of his personality why he's this low to begin with.

His modeling skills: THANK GOD HE DIDN'T MAKE IT TOO FAR INTO THE COMPETITION BECAUSE I NEVER WANT TO SEE THAT CATERPILLAR BEARD AGAIN. That's what really weighed him down when it came to his overall portfolio. The Elvis photo was good enough, but I think at that point it was too late for him. When it came to judging, his photos always seemed so overrated for me. Though... to argue in his case, that season was basically Tyra choosing with her vagina so that's mainly on her rather than Denzel.

His second beard-weave wasn't much of an improvement either, so we could say he also had the worst re-makeover ever?

 

Also, I can't believe he came NINTH. It felt as if he were around for AGES.
