Dear, dear! 3 years' missing news. You are deprived, Callum.

 

I'm afraid this forum only has less than six months' for you to catch up on. If you try the CC archives, I think that'll fill in about another year for you and after that you'll have to go to Darius's own sites.

 

The point of the forum is the same as any OF to keep people informed about an artist in this case .......Darius Danesh. It is here because it was voted for after a request was put in by one of the mods (not a Darius fan ) and voting then took place.

I know you weren't being nasty Callum (we're all friendly on Buzzjack :D ) but I honestly don't see what difference when his last single was out makes!? I think 'Live Twice' was released in January 2005 (it got to No.7 in the chart) and Darius has been working on his third album in between his 'sell-out' stints as Billy Flynn in Chicago. Hopefully we will hear very shortly that it is finished and ready for release

So Darius is definitely not "so 3 years ago", he is definitely very here and now and in the future!! :D

Singer/songwriters don't churn out an album a year like those who do covers or sing other people's songs.

Lots of them take 3 years between albums so if Darius was working full-time on it, I'd expect it November 2007.

 

But he has taken time out to become a bona fide actor having spent 12 weeks last year in the West End playing the role that Usher is now playing on Broadway. He reprised the role again this summer for another 3 weeks. So if he hasn't finished the album by Spring 2008 I'll be disappointed.

Yes, in fact I think we've been pretty lucky as fans.

 

Darius has virtually lived in the States for 2 years and is now permanently settled in Los Angeles.

 

He's made the choice to factor happiness into his future plans just as he made the choice to go the non-commercial route of waiting six months and writing his own album when he could have raked in millions with a double a-sided cover version CD only 3 weeks after Gareth's Unchained Melody, another after Anyone of Us followed by his first album of standards and ballads 3 weeks after From Now On.

 

Every time Darius has made the effort to come back to the UK, he's generally been featured in some of the tabloids or celeb mags...... no mean achievement considering he isn't in and out of rehab, constantly struggling to put weight on/off, isn't shagging a load of tarts, doesn't fall drunk out of nightclubs and isn't doing any reality TV. After that lot are in and then all the ones hyped by their PR because they're on a promotional campaign, only those the GBP are still interested in, like Darius, get a look in.

 

He must be one of a only handful of UK artists who're away writing abroad and not promoting in any way, whose fans get regular news and pictures of him.

In a way, that says it all really in terms of how generally the public probably do perceive Darius though - most people that I speak to off the internet anyway, only seem to really mention PopStars, PopIdol and Colourblind in relation to Darius - they're often surprised to know he's actually done more. You can tell even from some of the comments posted on his MySpace site, that some people think the songs on there are new ones, so they've obviously not familiar with them - even people based in the UK! But, having said that, I think that might be true for artists in general, if they're not on TV; Radio or front pages of Magazines they disappear from public consciousness. It's only really fans or people who have a real interest in a particular artist, that generally go to the trouble of finding out what they are actually doing.

Another ambition achieved.

 

I wonder what else he can put on his songwriter's checklist - He's written a number one, every track on a platinum album and written several different genres of song. Any songwriter would be proud of that.

 

But Darius has also produced and mixed his own songs, had one of his songs featured on a film soundtrack, had one of his songs recorded by an American artist and issued as a single in the US and as a track on an album distributed throughout the world and Colourblind has been number one twice, three years apart in India.

I still wish he'd do a preview of the new stuff. It's alright people telling you about it - I just want to hear a few.

Was it, for example, someone who would have been in a position to hear more than a few snippets of it?

Go on, give us a clue, girl! I'm not bad at codes and puzzles when I set my mind to them.

I wouldnt mind Callum saying what he says if he had included a number of other artistes in his question and suggested the same about them i.e. sophie ellis bexter, avril lavigne, daniel bedingfield, justin timberlake until this last couple of weeks has been off the scene for two years or more, shakira has been off the scene for two years, anastacia, joss stone, rachel stevens, emma bunton, and probably loads more, but Darius has been doing a stage musical in that time as well as writing.

I don't think many people who used public transport in central London could have missed the fact that Darius was starring in Chicago. I remember him laughing when Des O'Connor referred to all the posters.

 

When I was there for opening night, I never saw any at all but I think I must have been too excited because after that he seemed to follow me everywhere I went- buses, taxis, everywhere in the tube stations. Hee_uge posters in the railway stations.

 

"Darius A class act" - loved that one! and "Darius IS Billy Flynn". They never spoke truer words.

He certainly was and it makes me laugh to read on on a certain stage site that it is usual to the stars to only do at the most six performances a week, that may have been the case for the leading ladies but it certainly wasnt for Darius, he never missed a performance out of 96. They then say that as connie who won the maria programme is new to the westend ALW wouldnt want to put her voice under a strain.

I must have had Connie mixed up with someone else. I thought she was one of the trained singers. I thought her actions were sometimes OTT and she seemed to me to scream stage/drama school.

 

I can see ALW's point of view. He invested a lot of his credibility in this programme. There would be a real backlash if she did harm her voice. They'd say he was greedy and overworking her.

 

I read he has already been asked to do a similar type of programme to cast some of his shows in the US and I also read somewhere that there's going to be a TV search for a Sandy and Danny for Grease..... I'm not sure if it's here in the UK.

that Connie is a strange looking girl..anyone recall the old US sit com.."funny face"..the actress in that was a dead ringer..I am showing my age now of course
