I hope Germany revert to a 2010/12-type selection, of course they provided Germany's best results but it seems they got overconfident and it has been downhill since then (although the quality of entries has stayed very high bar a more average Elaiza).

Agreed. I mean they seem to really like Eurovision, they always have among the most enthusiastic crowds (2012 in particular when they had their votes read out, they were probably the loudest of all the countries). I really don't want the recent failures to just make the country completely stop caring about the contest after such a renaissance in 2010.

It's similar with Spain but they seem to go hit > flop > hit > flop now so it could be worse for them. France are probably a hopeless case, UK too.

Germany and Spain also seem to have the most "hardcore" fanbases too. The UK public love Eurovision too but more to make a joke out of it whereas the feeling I get from Germany and Spain is that they take it more seriously, which is shown by their entries most of the time.

The public in France and Italy both seem disinterested, France because of their endless poor results I'm guessing and Italy because they have basically had to start building a fanbase up from scratch after their 14 year absence. This is actually helping Italy I guess as they can afford to send big artists who usually do well and who won't ruin their careers if they don't do too well as in the grand scheme of things the majority of Italians won't even know about it as viewing figures are so low I believe (although they are rising year-on-year).

But yes I hope Germany and Spain both keep going, their fans deserve it!

If anything was going to make a country jaded it'd be 3 bottom 10s in a row topped off with a nul pointer for an entry that doesn't really have much wrong with it at all. Stay strong German fans.

Oh and Italy had better start taking notice at this rate, last year aside they've been smashing it ever since their return and if this top 3 with a televote win doesn't get them interested I don't know what will.

Turkey and Ukraine are apparantly returning next year :cheer:

France has delivered some amazing entries in recent years too.. Hope they keep experimenting. UK seems hopeless. They need to either order a song from a high profile songwriter and make a big talent sing it or do national contest again. It's cheaper to buy the song I'd say. BBC do your homework!!!!

Ukraine is my favourite ESC country in general so really wish they'd return next year.
