HEAT 11

http://euromidi.eu/images/detailed/0/Sestre.24ur.com.jpg

We are getting so close to the end now. Only two more heats to go and 8 more countries to visit. The penultimate bunch is Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Czech Republic and Moldova.

Slovenia sent 19 entries to the contest in the past 20 years but barely any of them were successful. Country can only boast 3 Top 10s and a personal best of 7th place in 1995 and 2001. However the entries they have been sending so far have been incredibly diverse. Their repertoire ranges from old school powerhouse vocal ballads to fierce female anthems to opera to violin almost-instrumentals to dubstep to folky national tunes to drag queen pop. God help you all if Sestre do not advance. I mean it was probably one of the most controversial entries ever to-date <3 Poor European homophobic hens who didn't appreciate their eleganza :')

Moving on to Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia's sister formerly conjoined in Yugoslavia. Since 1993 they have been participating together but the luck was much more on Bosnian side. They have never not advanced to the finals having finished Top 10 six times with the personal best finish of 3rd place in 2006 with Zeljko-penned Lejla. Dino Merlin was solely responsible for 2nd and 3rd best results of 6th and 7th place finishes in 2011 and 1999 respectively. What a man. In 2008, following two classically incredible Balkan ballads, they also sent one of the most ikonec and risky entries in Eurovision ever and finished 10th with it. Considering the competition in 2008 was absolutely insane, they did extremely well.

Moldova is the 3rd country of this heat and they did quite well. The personal best of 6th place came from the debut contest of 2005 where they sent one of the most popular bands in the former soviet union area, including Russia, at that time, Zdob si zdub. Since then Moldova finished Top 10 once more in 2007 and DNQd 3 times (including 2015). In the 2011-2013 period the country was extremely close to returning to the Top 10 but failed to achieve that by less than 20 points all 3 times (2011 - 12th - 10 points away; 2012 - 11th - 16 points away; 2013 - 11th - 13 points away). Aliona Moon is expected to qualify from this heat but the real mystery is the second qualifier. Bland Natalia, crappy Pasha, overrated Saxophone guy or the absolutely FABULOUS and criminally underrated Nelly? (Just a hint for ya)

And finally there is Czech Republic. despite having only 4 entries to-date they were responsible for some of the most ikonec car crashes and ridiculously funny and cheesy lyrics ever. "if you wanna have some fun don't run". I instantly imagine a serial killer chasing its victim while this song plays. Oh Teresa you dumb bitch. Kabát is AMAZING and myself + Iz will be having NONE of your whining guys. Of course Marta + Vaclav are not eligible for this but they are also quite incredible. Gipsy.cz though. Poor hens. Tragic :')

Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Moldova - 2 qualifiers.

Czech Republic - 1 qualifier.

You may vote in ANY or ALL of these four sub-heats. You do that by forming your 10 favourite songs from each country. You must use the traditional Eurovision voting system (12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point). If a country had less than 10 participations between 1995 and 2014 then you must rank ALL of their entries but still use the same voting system described earlier. For example, if a country has only 7 entries then your votes will be 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4 points.

Vote via PM to Henderella. You have until 23:59 Saturday June 6th, 2015.

I dont know what you are talking about hen :')
I'm sorting out my votes now and Slovenia was very easy. I mean there's so much great entries to choose from. But I'm stucked at BIH, there's only one song I like the others are sh!t  maybe I'll do this later :D

If Energy doesn't absolutely STORM the Slovenian vote (much like its SEMINAL KEY CHANGE) then I'm DELETING THIS WHOLE CONTEST

YOU'RE DRIFTING AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! *o*

Ranking Bosnia was so hard. Even my 1 point is ridiculously good.

AaronTM's votes IN DA HOUSE :o

Bosnia has a very strong line-up there. They have what I consider the best Balkan ballad ever in "Rijeka bez imena" and then they came up with "Bistra Voda" too. OOF!

I will never forget 2008 when "Have Some Fun" come out in its "demo" version only to be euro-vamped with everything AND the iamspamspamami~ sink. Plus, THAT performance with an overload of iamspamspamami~ foil is a true lesson on how not to do Eurovision.

I really find Bosnia overrated by fans, quite a few of their entries are not to my taste at all and I don't have many standout favourites from them (only 2-4 from this lot that I'd go back to), I've only been missing them because I've been itching for a chance for them to prove me wrong on that.

Slovenia have been so reliable for quality 2006 onwards though, 2013 aside. Each of those is probably towards the top of my yearly rankings. Moldova are similarly great on a consistent basis, been looking forward to ranking both of them.

As for Czech Republic, I think 'Have Some Fun' may be the worst entry in this round and we have 'Straight Into Love' and the more mediocre Bosnian entries in here as well. :') I know it's probably fighting against the tide coming in, but can we have one of the other two please?

I find Bosnia & Herzegovina's entries usually overrated too. Like Iz, there's only 2 or 3 very good entries there and are definitely one of the weaker quality former Yugoslavian countries.

Czech Republic's qualifier is a very obvious choice. As far as we know it's the only entrant with a vagina so that one was a given. I just don't get it though. Performance was shit, she is bland as shit and the song is shit. Last place in Semi plz

Kabat scoring three 12s from buzzjack's alternative opposition tho~ <3

Maja Keuc

'No One'

So here we have our first Slovenian qualifier, Maja Keuc. This was one of the very few amazing songs in 2011 so it's very pleasing to see it go through. However, I'm a bit surprised that 2011 already has 7 songs in the Semifinals. Either way here's hoping that Maja will be able to make it to the Finals because really if you look at the other semifinalists you would think no one (~) deserves it more than she~

Aliona Moon

'O Mie'

YAY. To the shock of literally no one Aliona is going straight to the Semis from Moldova. Despite slaying in Eurovision she could only finish 11th so here's the chance for AlMoo to redeem ha self~

Hari Mata Hari

'Lejla'

THIS is the best Balkan ballad by quite far tbh. Everything about it is so stunning. Lejla going through means this is the second Zeljko-penned to have advanced further yay! Zeljko's last entry is next week though but it's likely to qualify as well. I mean no1curr about No Name and Lan Moje was Top 2 in actual Eurovision~

ANYWAY, this is 7th song from 2006 now and 3 out of Top 4 songs from that year qualified. Dima is still to come so we might have 4/4 here!

---

Fun times are now officially OVER and I have to announce some of the shocks in this heat. Let's start from heat with the biggest gap between 3rd and 2nd and work our way down~ This does not mean that second qualifiers are necessarily 2nd placed entries here.
