Elvis' death has been voted by Australian television viewers as the 5th most memorable event on TV. Not surprisingly, man's first step on the Moon and 9-11 filled the top two positions respectively. The assassination of JFK was #3 and the death of Princess Diana #4. The Beatles stunning visit to Australia came in at #19. The list of the top 20 moments on TV were announced last night on the TV special, "TV Turns 50 - The Events That Stopped A Nation". The special included a tribute to Elvis by both Human Nature (Don't Be Cruel) and David Campbell (Viva Las Vegas/Suspicious Minds). As Campbell sang, two large screens and five thin screens showed clips from various parts of Elvis' career.

Don't like to dwell on Elvis' passing, but it had a big impact on me, at the time, and I wasn't even a huge fan then :( I can remember where I was when I heard that he'd died, and I think that is true of so many people. Guess it's a bit like older people with the assasination of JFK.
