I've said since If I Go "this will be the song to do it" This time I'm not thinking that, if Together couldn't do it I don't think she has a shot, sadly. They should just release the album after this but I'm genuinely worried it just won't happen :(

I wouldn't exactly rule her our never getting a 'BIG solo hit', I guess whatever it is she's releasing in the last year just hasn't left that big an impression on the public like we have!

I know this says a lot given she's now released 4 singles and none have really set the charts on fire but I still get some glimmer of hope that maybe not this era because as far as that's concerned this is dead in the water but possibly if she releases the album, it doesn't do that well then she quickly moves onto to album #2 and properly get a huge hit waiting in the wings with top writers and producers on board then what can exactly go wrong?

Obviously if that was the case and it still do nothing then I might be on the same opinion with everyone but I can see her scoring a hit somewhen. She's GOT unbelievable talent she just needs that killer song that connects thoroughly with the public chart wise. You have to remember Paloma's first era spawned two top 20 hits only then album #2 came along and boom there comes a top 10 hit with 'Picking Up the Pieces'. I'm not entirely gonna write her off just yet but maybe just this album era only she's not quite hitting the mark for some reason!

I don't really see what else she can do... her first single was an attempt to capture the success 'Love Me Again' achieved the year before by cloning it, 'Comeback' sounded huge but didn't do it for her, 'Together' was a copy of 'Changing' (and to some extent 'Gravity', which shows she can only seem to score a hit guest appearing on someone else's track).

It's a shame though, but I think she's proven at this point that she's tried everything and can't make it.

Ahh but "New York" was a big hit. Not in terms of charting but it was v. well liked.

I still think she'll get decent support for this. She just needs a better song - Though I thought Comeback was fabulous and that still flopped. I still think she has it in her for a solo hit.
Also remember Charli XCX's first album did nothing commercially but the big feature of Fancy changed her fortunes.

I'm surprised as anyone why 'Together' wasn't a top 10, especially as it got released the week after she finished the Olly tour and pretty much all of the fanbase were singing her praises night after night (she was awesome live though, TBF). I'm looking forward to hearing this new one anyhow. Pre-ordered the signed deluxe edition of the album from her website too.

It's just a really odd market atm, no different to how downloads helped the really 'cross appeal' acts or artists with fanbases who had access to credit cards for iTunes accounts in 2005 (or in this case, for Spotify accounts in 2015). Couple that with airplay/radio station/label politics of late (Radio 1 and Capital being the absolute worst of all) and certain genres or artists being more 'in vogue' than others and it's depressing to say the least.

Eh, I'm not exactly feeling it, judging by the live version. Sounds like a bit less anthemic and exciting version of Comeback and Together mashup. Although I need to hear the studio version first. I wonder if the album's going to get pushed back again.

This situation is more comparable to if Charli had tried launching her career following 'Fancy' and 'Boom Clap' still failed.

Charli had nothing going for her when she released her first album, she was a complete unknown. Ella has Sound of... and Critics' Choice support and has already done the "featuring on a big hit" thing multiple times now. You really don't get better platforms to launch a career off of than Ella has.

They should have just put the album out with 'Comeback'. You can't compare it to Paloma because she released the album early and put out some notable singles after that. The album only did so well because it had an extensive post-album campaign. Ella will release her album after single 4 at the earliest and probably release one more single following it if even that. She's not going to start off well or have longevity.

She is screwed to put it bluntly. Just hope she's actually allowed to release the album because that's far from guaranteed.

I liked it a lot, reminded me a lot of Basement Jaxx's 'Good Luck' which I absolutely love.

However I don't think it is different enough from her previous singles to really hit the big time. I don't think it sounds massively different or more commercial than 'Together'. It is the same formula again.

#GOODTIMES will be on spotify as of MIDNIGHT TONIGHT...

Being on spotify this early is something more artists should do :drama: I mean it won't help someone who's looking to get a #17 SMASH that much but still, it's a good move.
Just heard this on the Glastonbury coverage, sounded great but very similar to 'Together'. So I'll probably really like it, but I doubt it's going to be a top 10 :(
