But you can only break the rules once you are familiar with them first, and for our non-UK posters, their familiarity with the English language may not be at the level where they will understand your abbreviations....

My girlfriend is Polish, she has an extremely good English vocabulary (much better than about half of the bloody natives in this country if you ask me...), she only has problems with slang and vernacular; when a language is taught it is taught using the proper words, grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc..... So this post would have no problems being understood by our non-English posters, whereas a post full of abbreviations and 'txtspk' will be....

You have to watch a hell of a lot of different sorts of films and do comparisons in order to formulate a lucid, well thought out argument, and you have to detune yourself from the dominant Hollywood cinema in order to fully appreciate a film from another culture; because they dont make films like Hollywood does, why the hell should they...? It's not your fault, you, like the vast majority of cinema-goers unfortunately, have just been brainwashed into the false belief that there is only one type of way to make a film - the Hollywood way...

Because you havent given a valid reason as to why you say it's better than the original... I just dont see how anyone who calls themselves a Horror fan can like something so laughable, something so clearly fake and so clearly made with absolutely no intention to respect the original film in any way....

 

For example - the bit where they pick up the girl... why is she walking in the same direction that the van is travelling when that is the direction she clearly states she doesn't want to go.....? ie, she is walking towards the 'big bad', not away from it...It makes no sense....

 

And are we honestly expected to believe she could actually put a gun, ahem, up there and still be able to walk normally.....? Jesus, it's a rather large METAL object.....Not to mention the fact that if she actually managed to steal the gun from the Sherriff, why the hell didn't she BLOODY SHOOT HIM???? :huh: :huh:

 

This film treats us like idiots.....

And I am not going to tell you what it means, go look at a dictionary or a thesaurus, get up off your backside and actually learn your own language instead of merely being content to be thick, prove me wrong, I really want to be wrong about the younger generation because if my assumptions are wrong then it might actually fill me with some hope for the future....

I can accept a lot of things in a film - Martian invasions, the dead returning to life, vampires, werewolves... But there must be a sense of causal logic (no matter how outlandish the premise) in order for the the film-makers to suspend the audience disbelief, the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre has very little in the sense of causal logic, because its script is dreadful beyond belief....

 

And the reason it's dreadful beyond belief..? Because they know they can get away with it because modern audiences are incredibly undemanding.... If you are content to have your intelligence insulted to this level, well, far be it from me to stand in your way.....
